Congrats on the new low body fat! And for staying in the 250s, well done!

I am down a little, again. If I go any lower will need to increase calories again. Just noticed my typo, yesterday was 152, not 162.

After losing over 160 lbs I am in maintenance and trying to stay somewhere in the 150s. My gain into the 160s in October 2019 was likely surgery related edema, and not fat.
  • August began 161, ended 159, ranged 163 to 159.
  • September began 160, ended 158, ranged 160 to 154.
  • October began 159, ended 158, ranged from 155 to 162.
  • November began 160, ended 153, ranged from 153 to 164.

Happy to FINALLY be back to losing again! I still have 2 more lbs to lose before I'm at my pre thanksgiving weight...and I know I'm going to go through this during Christmas too...so I plan on losing as much as I can between now and then...but if I can make it through both holidays with a little weight loss that's going to be great! Come January I'm looking forward to some real loss before spring!!

Hey Korrie, you are doing well, down over 17 lbs is to be proud of! Good for you Err, hanging in the 250s right well!

I was actually down a little this morning, my scale said 150.6, but I round so that's officially still 151. Hope my loss has bottomed out, the higher calories should take effect soon.

According to the all-knowing spreadsheet, I now need to increase my calories to 1700 to meet my goal of losing 0.5% BF per week w/o losing lean mass. This seems like quite a jump so I am a bit skeptical, but I've triple checked the math so I guess I'll give it the old college try...

Thats funny....I hope it works for you, some of the science behind weight loss is too much for me!

Err, I am impressed with your thoughtful approach, I think it is a lot better than what I did. You are wise to try not to lose muscle, and if you can keep the weight loss up with a few more calories I think that's well worth trying. I was at about 1,000 calories a day for a year and I know it did some damage, I lost muscle and believe I am still struggling to get my metabolism up, you are doing better, good for you!

Korrie, did you miss updating? Your post today looks the same as yesterday.

Korrie, congrats on the pound loss!! It was my mistake, I misunderstood your post. Err, good job holding yesterday's big loss, down 2+ lbs in 2 days! And I see you have upped your calories to the 1700 mark, am hoping that works for you.

I had a big bounce up, and for no apparent reason. Guess I am learning that my weight will bounce around a bit, so long as the bouncing stays in the 150s I will be happy!

Wow that is a strange bounce Rob. I should check the standard deviation and try to come up with a 97% confidence window for daily weight fluctuations - one of these days....

I've been slacking on resistance training again and it shows. So easy to fall out of the routine when traveling...

Err, congrats on the new low body fat! It would be an interesting calculation, I am surprised by how much my body weight can fluctuate when I am not really gaining or losing. I see a nearly 10 lb range, more if you count the post surgery thing. That is a significant percentage of my total weight, if you subtract out the bone weight it approaches 10%. I know all that can't be water, some has to be the weight of solids in my digestive system. But its still a lot of fluctuation... Where are you traveling to? Flying, or driving? Does travel in the time of Covid worry you?

I am down a little, but still 6 lbs above where I was just a few days ago, more unexplained fluctuation. Still in the 150s though, I am happy.

Where are you traveling to? Flying, or driving? Does travel in the time of Covid worry you?

2 days ago I traveled to the far northern part of California to check on a rental property and cut down a Christmas tree so I could enjoy the scent while on the impending lock down. Yesterday I traveled to the greater San Diego area to pick up a puppy for my mother (she had to put down her dog of 13 years a few months ago & her house has been way too quiet since). I drove both days - about 5 hours driving one day and about 14 hours the next.

I sanitize my hands after every contact with unknown surfaces, avoid people like the plague, wear a surgical mask when exercising outdoors, and wear a kn95 mask when I am otherwise going out in public. I'll gladly pay $0.10/gal more to buy gas at the station no one else is using and, if I have to go through a drive-thru, I not only wear my mask but I crank up the a/c fan, flip the vent from recirculate to fresh air, and lower only the driver's window to create positive pressure inside the car to potentially repel particles from the (masked) cashier.

My first (and worst) inclination is to say anyone who takes covid less seriously than me is a maniac and anyone who takes it more seriously than me is an idiot - like George Carlin's bit about drivers:

Of course I'll feel really stupid if St. Peter asks why I died from covid after taking all these precautions but then stopped to get an iced tea from the McDonald's drive-thru on a road trip when I could have just brewed it in advance and taken it with me...

Hey Err, congrats on the new body fat low! Your Covid precautions sound really good, I should do as well. Liked the video too, I always liked George. 15 hours is a long drive to pickup a dog, was it worth it? Our dogs have always been rescues, either from the local pound or friends, the one exception is a coonhound we were told about at a pound that was a 4 hour drive away. She was well worth the drive, coonhounds are great pets, and she gave us 14 good years, I think she was my all time favorite dog.

Nothing new here, which is good news!

Time will tell whether it was worth it, but so far the pup looks promising. I'm not too picky with dogs as long as they're well behaved and a decent companion, but my mother uses hers as a service dog and is quite a bit more particular about size, sex, hair length, temperament, activity/energy, etc. Whippets in general really suit her, although my own was one that clearly did not have the temperament to be a good service dog so I wound up basically adopting her.

Anyway, my mother was supposed to pick up this new puppy at a nearby dog show in 2 weeks, but with California about to enter lockdown version 3.0 she thought it was worth the 1,000 mile drive (as long as someone else was doing the driving and she could nap on the way).

Hello! So great that you share the result, it's very inspiring! I try not to weigh myself lately, as I am sick and sleep and eat a lot. I hope to get back in shape soon.
