I haven't been doing as much resistance training (or cardio for that matter) so I probably should keep mid 1300s as a calorie goal on days I don't get much exercise. On the other hand, I should be doing more exercise anyway as it looks like body fat % is creeping up despite the weight finally moving back down...

In related news, the exercise bike I ordered came in and I got it put together last night so I was all excited to be able to resume cardio indoors/away from the unhealthy smoke. Unfortunately I saw a 265 lb weight limit sticker on the frame just as I was doing the final assembly. Ugh! I have bent both pedals, broken three spokes on the rear wheel, broken the cords on the nearly full-treaded rear tire, caused the sealed bottom bracket to knock/become lose, and bent the rails on two seats riding not quite 1,000 miles on my bicycle (rated for 350 lb) so I am reluctant to hop on the exercise bike just yet.

Err2 - I think that they build in a level of tolerance on those maximum weights - if we cannot get our Tunturi treadmill repaired soon we will start using the Reebok treadmill if we cannot get outside which has a lower maximum weight to my husband's weight. The rate that you will be going you will be down to that 265 pounds level very quickly.

Hey Err, congrats on the new low, you appear well off of that plateau!! Margaret is right, you will be down to the 265 soon. When I purchased the bike I currently have I got one rated for 300 pounds, don't need that any more... Margaret good for you staying under that 14 st mark!

I am down a little this morning, but since I round I know it is actually less than a pound.

Wow nice Rob, you must be getting pretty lean! And it'll be nice for you to have a maintenance cushion for your trip.

If I stay on schedule I should dip below 265 around November 16. 2 months isn't that far in the grand scheme of things and being able to use an exercise bike then will help compensate for the seasonal loss of daylight.

But if I'm looking months ahead, I'm really looking forward to dipping under 250 lb before New Years - that would be a 200 lb loss for the year! Anyway, back on topic:

Hey Err, that is great, you keep going down. I am looking forward to following your progress to 265, hopefully in November and then downwards after.

I had another new low today. Not sure it means a lot, I know from past experience that my weight loss comes in spurts. I kind of think of this one as a 4 pound loss week after a long plateau. It is evidence that I should be eating a few more calories and I soon will be. Yes Err, you are right I have a good "cushion" to take into the vacation. Eating a bit more and even gaining a few pounds won't bother me, but I am going to be fighting the binge every day, bingeing would be a problem.

I weighed, but did not immediately log, my portion of beef rib roast for dinner last night but greatly underestimated the calories/fat. I wound up short on protein so I added an extra 150-cal protein shake later which pushed me well over 1500 calories. On the plus side, we had a brief reprieve from smoke so I was able to go for a 10,000 step walk last night.

It may even be that my 4-ounce serving was not 354 calories because I did a pretty good job surgically trimming the fat. But it still goes to show some of the difficulty in WAG-ing calories & macros of different cuts of meat because I was assuming it was comparable to the last roast I had:

Beef Eye Roast (4 oz)
Calories: 180
Protein: 25g
Fat: 5g

Beef Rib Roast (4 oz)
Calories: 354
Protein: 20g
Fat: 25g

As I mentioned in my diary I'm increasing my calorie target again, this time aiming for around 1425. I seem to hit plateaus the moment I increase my calories even modestly, but I'll maintain this intake for at least 2 weeks even if I plateau. I'm 2 months ahead of schedule so I can afford it, right?
