Weight-Loss The Red Team Thread

Weight-Loss
Right well Think I got all my exercise points in.
Jumped on the scales this morning and they are up half a pound.
Annoying but never mind.
It happens!!
Will weigh in on friday and hopefully it will be better!!
Hope everyone else is going well and getting all there exercise points!

Omega - Thanks for the wise words. It does get frustrating at times but I just keep thinking of my end goal and know that I can't give up as I have all those other times.
This is the time to loose everything and not put it back on!

Thanks again!

Xorie - The world is full of idiots that feel that it is appropriate behaviour to be cruel. They are simply demonstrating their stupidity. I would rather be cuddly than stupid any day. We can lose weight a lot easier than they can gain sense.

Pinketnies - Well done for completing the 300 minutes of exercise.

My weight wiggles about every day - you can see this because I post a fortnight window every day on the weigh every day club. As long as I can see a downward trend in the fortnight window I am fairly happy - although naturally I would prefer to see a consistent loss.

Since we have the option to use either Thursday's or Friday's weighing - I use whichever gives me the best loss.

In case of computer problems on Friday - I fill in the results page on Thursday (if not before) - so that I get the points earned so far. I can always edit it on Friday.

Omega-what is this? My weight wiggles about every day - you can see this because I post a fortnight window every day on the weigh every day club. As long as I can see a downward trend in the fortnight window I am fairly happy - although naturally I would prefer to see a consistent loss.

Mom2 - in the clubs section there is a "weigh every day club". Whilst acknowledging that many people suggest that we do not weigh frequently - many people (me included) like to weigh every day. In it we form a rolling posting of a number of weighings. It is sometimes nice to see that other people's weight wiggles about a bit.

My posting for today was as follows - you can see it does wiggle but have a downward trend.

Recent weights:

10/01/2008 12st0.4 i.e. 168.4 pounds
11/01/2008 12st0.0 i.e. 168.0 pounds

It helps me see that the 19th and 21st increases were against the trend and not to be too concerned if it is up slightly tomorrow (apart from being disappointed because of the challenge!)

ah, I see, I have been weighing daily and marking it on my graph by day so I can see the trendline.

Good news today: I was so tired I wanted to sleep in and not go but I got my butt in gear, went to the gym and I did 30 intense minutes eliptical then 30 on teh stair master (the moving stairs not just push up and down) which was intense and I was dripping sweat. My heart rate monitor registered 726 calories burned in 73 minutes, I was veyr happy with that. I also am wearing a pair of pants I havent worn in 2 years, despite the meanie scale saying I am up to 151 so I dont care what it says as long as I see my trend (thanks for this ladies)!

how is everyone doing today??? Did you get in your 5 hours yet???

Mom2 - In a long term project (like I am doing) you would need a huge sheet of graph paper!

Well done at the gym. Also with the pants.

Every new low that I get is a weight that I havent seen in over twenty years. I gave all my clothes this size away to charity shops years ago.

Omega-my graph is only for month by month, I can see where you would want to see all of yours. Last eyar I did a weigh in wednesday every week and wrote it in my planner so I guess that was similar. Thanks for the congrats. It's probably good you gave all the clothes away, they would be a bit dowdy by nowLOL, besides you deserve some new clothes as you go!!

Now you arent keeping all the ones you shrunk out of are you? I am only keeping a few that will be good for after my next child and I am putting htem in a bin labeled such so if I have to go 'get them' other than after a pregnancy I will be VERY disapointed in myself and hopefully it will spur me to action.

ok bored at wokr but need to get back to paperwork--yuck

Awesome about the pants mom2:D:D:D!!!I love that when it happens.I weighted in today at 229:):):)That felt awesome!!!That puts me down 5 lbs since last weight in...I skipped the gym this morning - im just not yet ready to a 5am wake up call - im still not 100% and Im having rough nights...I do however have Yoga at 930 this am for 45 mins and I will more than likely go to water areobics tonight but even if I dont - I have the elliptical here I will hope on...no worries either way I have my exercise covered.

Thanks everyone for the support!

Have gotten a little better with the food, but still not doing as well as I should be. However, I've gotten in my 300 mins already, and will be doing more! Keep it up everyone!

Hello ladies,

Mom, please do not give up counting your calories. Do not try to cut them or something just try to get more knowledge about them. This helped me tremendously and I almost always know whether I will be up or down next day based on what I had.
I have nothing but admirations for you overcoming your tiredness and going to the gym. That's one thing which will pay off soon!

Cinderelly, really well done for your exercises, I am getting the impression that maybe this week we will have the success of getting all our points!!!

Pinketnies, well done for getting the points for the team!!!!:hurray:

Omega, I have absolutely the same approach about the weigh ins. I have a record of all my weights from 01.08.2007 up to now. I don't get too upset when I am up some days but it influences my motivation for the day. Overall I have noticed that it has positive effect because it keeps me aware of things happening in my body!

Girls, I also gave my big clothes to a charity shop and I keep just one as a proof where I started from... ridiculous size! :)

Xorie, you also got you points! Yes, yes, yes!

I have only 30 min left to reach the 300 min. Certainly I am doing those tomorrow. No more rotten watermelons today. :puke: I was good with the food. Good results on the scales as well. A good day for me really.

Mom2 -
Now you arent keeping all the ones you shrunk out of are you?

I actually still have all my big clothes - UK size 30 and 32. I somehow feel that getting rid of them chances fate. While I can easily see them all and how big they are compared to me - it keeps me focused on how big I was and how easily I could be that size again. They do not need any label of being big clothes - their size in itself tells the story. They are like tents. For me - the story cannot possibly end when I get to goal weight. If I lose focus I can put on weight very easily. I think that I will have to get to goal and maintain it for some time before I will dare lose this very definite motivational aid.

KEEP UP THE FREAKIN AWESOME WORK RED LADIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Omega-that is a good way of looking at it, I never thought of that!! Matter of fact I am going to go get the biggest pair I put in maternity bin out and keep THEM in my closet too. Thanks for the great idea, I always htought if I kept all my clothes I coudl easily go back and get them where if I had to BUY new bigger sizes I wouldnt want to so I would loose.

Cinderelly-that is AWESOME with the excercise AND the loss! Kick butt week for you girl!

Wulsk-you are doing fab, no doubt you will get your time in and you are SO good with eating. I will try to continue counting calories for a few days here and there.

Pinketnies-all right full points!

Xorie-one step at a time you dont have to be perfect on eating right away just small imrpovements, besides you are ROCKIN that excercise plus being physical on the job helps I am sure.

Blonde-you've been quiet. Where is our motivator? Hope you are doing well.

Ok guys we are ROCKIN!! SO far as I can tell as long as missblonde got her 300min we are at full points plus it sounds like we have good weight losses to add in, no elimination for us!! I should go spy on the other teams but I dont have time today he he he.

I have to report that I did very well and am weighing in today at 148.5 YES YES YES, whihc is 2.5lb drop yeah! and gets me into the 140's. I hvae vacation today but depending on when my daughter gets up I am planning to do pilates class which I have never tried AND running my 35 minutes for today, we shall see.

KEEP UP THE FREAKIN AWESOME WORK RED LADIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mom2 - Congratulations on the 2.5 pounds drop and getting into the 140s. That is brilliant!

I have weighed for today (Thursday) and have a 1.4 pound drop. I have updated the scoresheet. I will weigh again tomorrow but I do not think that my weight will go down further as I am at a new low. If it does go down we can always edit it again.

Cinderelly - I am really pleased to hear of your weight loss too.

It is great that it looks like we all got our 300 minutes of exercise. I just hope that MissBlonde has managed it as I really do not want to see us lose any more people. We have lost too many people already!

Morning guys...sorry I haven't been posting much - I've been checking in on you guys..but not spending time to sit down and write.

:willy_nilly:It's been a rough past couple of days for me. Being unemployed was great at first when I was still collecting unemployment, but now that I'm not receiving any income, the pressure to find a job makes it even more disappointing when I can't find one. So, I've been beating myself up over it and have had my face in every job search engine on the internet! :banghead:

As far as my diet and exercise - I have 305 minutes as of Tuesday - and I plan on working out today for an hour. So, we're good there..I wouldn't let ya ladies down! I'm aggravated with my scale because I'm not showing any progress. I'm up as of today - but thankfully, we can use tomorrow's weigh if we want.

I had a horrible headache all day yesterday - but I got some extra beauty rest this morning - so I should be good to go. Just gotta get out of this funk - but I'm still in it to win it!! WE'RE GONNA ROCK! :biggrinjester:

:blush5: And since I have a been a big slacker on the motivation - here's one for today!

The difference between impossible and accomplished is in what you think. When you think you can, you will.

Yes, there may be big obstacles standing in your path. Still, when you think you can, you'll find a way over them, under them, around them, or through those obstacles.

If you're having trouble believing that you can accomplish some particular goal, break it into smaller, more believable steps. Once you see yourself in action, your confidence and belief will surely grow.

Decide that you can make a tiny difference. When you think you can, you'll find a way.

Once you've made a tiny difference, you'll find yourself knowing that you can do a little bit more and make a small difference. Then you can work your way up to making a medium difference, a large difference, and then an enormous positive difference in your world.

Choose to think that you can do it. And you'll see how great you are at figuring out a way to make it happen.

-- Ralph Marston

It is really great that you got that exercise in MissBlonde. We are really in with a good chance of surviving intact.

I have this struggle to get weight loss often in challenges. My weight loss is just so skewed.

Be sure to drink at least 2 litres of water today. It reduces your water weight on the scales in the morning.

Try not to eat anything too salty today. The salt causes you to retain water.

I also get a water retention gain with spicy food - I think that there must be salt in the marinades that get used.

Try to weigh on "empty". Trips to the toilet can and do make a huge difference.

If desperate to see a loss on the scales be aware of the fact that my weight in the morning (after toilet) is normally about half a pound heavier than I can get 2 to 3 hours later after walking over 6 miles if I dont eat in the meantime and drink only a small amount. I only know this because I walk a minimum of 6.3 miles every morning and got curious and started weighing before and after.

Now I always use my post walk weight as we all deserve the pleasure of thinking that we weigh a few ounces less. If I can get a result 3 times on the scales I take it - no matter how it may seem a little contrived!

Good luck

Im proud of all of us and I think we are gonna be the top team this week lets hope so.I havent had a loss yet and Im gonna make sure im weighin in with at least a 5 lb down weight in so that should help us with points and everyone elses loss:)

Thanx Omega and Mom2 - I also typically drink 2 -3 liters of water a day and since ive been sick - all I am now drinking is green tea and water...sometimes milk...I kicked all my bad habits when I was sick...and im stickin with the good ones:)

GO RED TEAM!!!

Hi girls!

Cinderelly, looking soo cute with your little one on the avatar! Thank you for being so focused and helped with the points despite being ill. Do you finally feel any better? Hope so!

Omega, congratulations for your weight loss. Great tips on "how to see our best weight on the scales" as well. Good job again! :hurray:

Mom, congratulations on entering in the 140s! That must feel so good! I dream to be there myself! :hurray:

Missblonde, I do really feel for you. I can understand how frustrating it can be to look for a new job. Headaches don't help either but you did your best! This is what really matters after all! We can't control anything else but our own actions. You are a great motivator as well! Thanks!

Pinketnies and Xorie :hug2::hug2:

I got my exercises today. 300 min. sharp. However I haven't been good with the food. I had a cooking inspiration and I made bread. (on the picture) I ate lots and lots of it. I feel bad. I saw very good figure on the scale this morning but tomorrow I will be up. I have decided to stick always with the Friday weight though.

Wulsk - Dont stick with Friday's weight out of habit. Even if the difference is just a tenth of a pound - go with the lowest weight.

I actually say this to you all.

We have to act strategically. We need the points sooner rather than later. The same point is still there next week - it carries over. How would you feel if you chose the other weight and that tenth of a pound made the difference between us losing team members this week or keeping them? We never know what the impact will be until all the data is collected and analysed.
