Happy Thanksgiving, all
anybody watch wrestling? ya know, Smackdown, RAW?
Uh oh Wolvie, you opened up a can of worms hehe...
I used to watch WWE religiously, being the only federation I could get in my area. I knew a guy who ran a small federation in Columbus and he had connections in the WWE, so I got some insider info, not too mention I helped him out with some of their events so I know quite a bit on how the business works.
As far as the WWE goes, I'm really dissapointed in the direction its taken here lately. Its almost as Vinnie Mac is content with horrid mediocrity and thinks that what he did in the attitude era (Steve Austin, DX, Rock etc.) will carry them through. Rather than making his superstars buck up and learn how to wrestle, he's satisfied by putting 2 big hosses in the ring and punch and kick the snot out of each other and expect us to buy it. Let me ask you this, how many times have you seen someone other than Jerry Lawler do a front facing piledriver? None, hes the only one allowed to do it since Owen Hart broke Steve Austin's neck. Dave Bautista (thats the way his real name is spelled) is the only one who is allowed to do a powerbomb, and Taker and Kane are the only ones allowed to do tombstone PDs. Vince is trying to protect his high dollar talent which is understandable, but this coupled with the fact that Stephanie McMahon running the creative department into the ground made RAW and SD! almost unbearable to watch for me. How many times can we see Trips with the strap. I mean I understand that Stephie had to take care of her husband, but come on. At least they had the insight to put him in a feud with The Ancient Boy Ric Flair.
They take the biggest draw off of RAW (Batista, lets face it, even though I thought he sucked in the ring, he had a decent personality and he put butts in the buckets) and trade him with a guy with a rap gimmick who can't rhyme and flow at the same time, and his finisher doesn't look like it could hurt my grandmother. They have these guys oversell the F-U like it took 3 vertebrae out of their back, and it looks so weak. They push these guys and let the ones with real in ring talent (Paul London, Steven Richards, Chris Benoit) rot in the mid card spot. Vince hates new talent, so does Trips.
The best thing that can happen to WWE is get some competition. If TNA starts to take off, the WWE may get better, until then though I think its gonna rot in mediocrity though. I do however watch it at times, and I seem to keep missing TNA when its on.
I couldn't tell you whos feuding with who, I can barely tell you whos got the straps other than the worlds.

I agree man. what the hell is going on? I watched some classic wrestling matches about 2 weeks ago. the wrestling and action was WAYYYYYYYY better. I saw this British Bulldog match vs. Heart Break Kid. greatttttttt match. Too many of the great wrestlers died. Eddie Guerrero was actually the only person on smackdown makin WWE interesting and funny.
yeah, there needs to be better character development. Stone Cold and Rock had tons of personality. Now they got just steroided up Christ Masters, Batista, and John Cena. I like all these characters, but its not like they are real wrestlers. Have u also seen Cade and Murdock... They ****in' suck. is there a shortage of wrestlers out there?
btw, where is J.R.? He's a great commentor, so full of energy. I love hearing him yell out "BATISTA BOMB... Batista Bomb..." or "THE BIG BOOT, The Big Boot..." "GOD ALMIGHTY, MY GOD THE POWER"
I think WWE now has some pretty cool finishers. I love that F-U move... you don't think it would hurt?? I love the Batista Bomb. What about the RKO? Sweet chin music is great... The Master-Lock is cool, but its kinda dumb that someone would pass out from it. I was in a club last year, I put this guy in a full nelson cause he and two other guys were tryin to beat up one guy. I wish I had known I was doin the master lock, so my friend next to me could have said "THE MASTER LOCK, THE MASTER LOCK!! HE'S GOT IT LOCKED IN" I'm not really into the pile driver cause ive heard a lot of kids have paralyzed each other with that move. but then again, all the moves are lethal, so...
I think he's the problem. They are not hirin' wrestlers anymore. They're just hirin' huge, roided bodybuilders (e.g. Batista, Chris Masters) and having them do mediocre moves on each other. they really need to get people like Benoit, real wrestlers, back in the spotlight.
Billy Gunn is on TNA right. Is he still doin' the famasser? gotta love the famasser. LOL

As far as Randy Orton goes, people may not like me for saying this, but IMO hes nothing more than a glorified high-mid carder who is riding his dad's coattails. NOW saying that, if he hadn't got his insane push and fell on his face, maybe id see him differently. I don't blame Randy though, he wasn't ready to carry that kind of load, and it showed. He wasnt over with the fans very long. I liked the RKO when it was the Diamond Cutter, DDP did it better I think.
I just don't see the F-U as a credible finisher. If you wanna see a credible finisher, google for vids of a burning hammer or a schwein. The way they oversell it is really funny to me too.
Michaels can really sell Sweet chin music and make it look good.
You're dead on about their hiring practices imo. They get people like hassan and masters, give hassan a dude like Davari who CAN wrestle, but will never be more than a tag champ because they'll push hassan before him, and bring masters in to do that gay master lock challenge 6 weeks before his first actual match. Why? because masters can't wrestle a lick and none of the guys in the back trust him. From what I heard, Nick Dinsmore (Eugene) wouldn't even work with him, and Nick is so good, he can make anyone look good.
Thats another thing that gets my goat. They take Nick Dinsmore, another great wrestler and saddle him with that dumbass eugene gimmick.

He needs to let Paul Heyman have more control (if Paul is even with the company anymore).
Benoit in the spotlight would make my day. He had his push, then jobbed the title back to Trips (sorry, thats just what I call the big nosed freak hehe). They did the same thing with Guererro (RIP), then let JBL have the title? He sucks, he sucked at Justin Bradshaw, he sucked with Ron Simmons in the Acolytes, he just plain sucks.
And last I heard Billy Gunn was in TNA, theres another class wrestler who got crapped on (the gay billy and chuck gimmick.. OMG!).
Back on JR, don't forget "HES GETTING WHIPPED LIKE A GOVERNMENT MULE!"
or "HES GOT A CASE OF THE LIMBERTAIL AND IS RUNNING LIKE A SCALDED DOG!" hehe

I watch UFC whenever I can (we don't get the current fights in the UK yet) anything else seems rather pale by comparison to me. I think I must be de-sensitised to it now. First time I saw it, I thought it was almost barbaric but, nowadays, I find myself watching for form, technique and tactics - I barely notice the violence!

OH YEAH! u know what i hate! titles don't switch enough. Batista and John Cena have been champions for months! back in the day, titles would switch every PPV. i loved that, it made it seem more real and it would allow for storyline twists.

Cena has personality, his "rapper" gimmick blows, not because of the gimmick, because Cena can't rap. Cena has some in ring talent too, they just need to let him express it.
I think HHH is a good wrestler, and a good personality. I can't say I agree with the route his character went, but hes talented.
Masters did hurt someone, it may have been Richards, it was in a house show and not really well known, but he botched something simple like a scoop or powerslam.
I didn't see orton/taker at mania, but from what a couple of people told me (second hand info mind you) that taker carried Orton. I'll have to start watching smackdown to see if my opinion changes. I hope he develops. What really turned me off of Orton was a spot in a match with Jericho. Jericho had someone in the Walls, and the spot was supposed to be orton coming up from behind and running RKO'ing him. Orton missed Jericho totally, and jericho sold it! It looked like he telekintecially RKOed him from halfway across the ring hehe. On RAW live nonetheless, no edit possible.
Honky Tonk Man was supposed to do something with the WWE until they told him he was gonna have to job to Orton, he said he "wasn't jobbing to that pipsqueak" it was funny hehe.

When I become a wrestler (BIG JOKE) I wanna have a special move like a powerbomb, or possibly a military press slam. I think the RKO is a sweet move, ive seen RKO do some really good ones with it. i dont know how to explain it, but he puts a lot of "energy" into it. the crowd goes nuts.
I military pressed my friend for fun a couple of times, it's not too hard. he's about 175, so i gotta get up to about 300 since wrestlers weigh a lot more. Look for me in a couple of years (BIG JOKE!)
