Did an hour and a half at gym today. Managed mini challenge by doing a few minutes at a time. Legs really ache.

Does mowing the yard (push mower) and yard work count as exercise? :)
I also did 30 minutes at Curves and 30 minutes riding my bike today.

I would say push mowing your yard counts as exercise. I seen somebody on another team counting golf as exercise.

I've been counting doing the hoovering.
IMO, if it gets you sweaty and out of breath it's exercise :p (Take that however you wish although I do believe the other teams aren't counting certain activities as exercise)

I agree on the 4 portion sof fruit/veg as the challenge though. It's a good healthy one, promoting getting your 5 a day. The recommendation is 2 fruit and 3 veg I think, but thats not fair if anyone is on Atkins Induction etc. (As I was/sort of am)

Or how about a point for every portion of wholegrain you eat maybe? Thats something people don't usually eat enough of.

I quite like that idea, I'm sort of stopping my atkins and going back to calorie counting, so will begin eating carbs stuff again soon, so it's like an incentiive to choose the healthier carby stuff :)

Also, with either of the above ideas, it's something different, like we've had a drinking on, an exercise one, so it's only fair to have an eating one right? :p

Still not weighing guys, sorry, but I'm not seriously on it until I've had my hospital stuff and can quite worrying!!
Still trying to get some exercise in on the days I feel I can get out of bed, and not eating huge amounts of calories.

Also, if you do 50 minutes of exercise annd your 10 minutes of squats, does that get you a point or do your squats not count towards exercise points?

I haven't counted my ten minutes of squats towards exercise 'cause the points are seperate.

Also, I don't personally count any exercise that isn't planned exercise. I wouldn't even know how to work it out haha 'cause it would be bits and bobs all over the place.

But hey that's just me, I'm a bit of a perfectionist.

Anyway I got 2 hours of tennis in today and 30 minutes weights, which is my longest duration of exercise in the challenge so far. I've also managed to keep up with the ten minutes of squats but it's beginning to take it's toll on my poor ole thighs.

Maybe the mini challenge could be eat at least 25g of fibre a day? That would incorporate fruit, veggies and wholegrains.

If you consider exercise as anything that gets you sweaty and your heart rateup. I would be logging in 8-10hrs of exercise a day. I have a really physical job so I am constanly exercising really.

Honestly if I could control my eating losing weight would be very easy for me becuase of my job.

Ah well I've been counting anything thats above normal for me, or rather not part of daily life as such.
Like the hoovering and stuff I couldn't do until recently so it's not the norm for me.
The last year has been really sedentary for me so a walk to the shop is 10-40 minutes exercise for me (depending on which shop), and if I'm in town I'll deliberately walk faster to make it into exercise.
Looking to buy a treadmill/elliptical when I move out so will be able to exercise "properly" more. Can't even do my DVD anymore because everyone is off for the summer holidays and I'm not allowed to use the living room.

Just got back from the gym. I was there for an hour and a half. I ran for 30 minutes, did 20 mins on bike and 40 mins of resistant training.

Thinking of starting back with weightloss not just other stuff.
Had a rough week or so and it's only getting worse so I figure I may as well dive in head first!
Been using fitday again, so I'll let you all know how it goes.

Hey guys...havn't heard for sure what you wanted for the mini challenge....am I to assume this is what you agreed to??

Hey Korrie, I'm sorry we didn't finalise something.

I think the fibre idea is a good one and a bit more interesting than fruit and veg alone. I'm not totally sure of the rest of the teams opinion though.

I think you can just choose what you think is best from the suggestions of fruit and veg, whole grain portions or fibre.

Thank you! Hope the challenge is going well for you :)

I failed horribly on the fibre challenge yesterday. I am going to stock up on all bran which seems to have nearly 10 times more fibre than my usual oatmeal and will eat baked potatoes with their skins and baked beans every day. I now realize why I am permanently constipated, I don't eat nearly enough fibre. I thought that oat meal was much higher. My husband said that suddenly eating so much fibre could have catostrophic consquences and that he will refuse to sleep in the same bed as me :D
