Weight-Loss Team 1 Chat Thread

Weight-Loss
I was supposed to swim this morning but am feeling under the weather. My eyes are burning and my throat is sore. I'm achey and feel like a-hole. I'm trying to leave work by 3pm today to go get fitted for a new bike as well as buy some racing shoes and clip in pedals. Tonight I hope to get in some time on the elliptical...got my weight watcher's weigh in tomorrow and hope to either break even or have a slight loss.

I have lunch plans today at a Mexican restaurant....uh oh....

You poor dear!

WOW you really sound like an athlete--and a HOT one at that! :drool5: Hope you feel better and watch out for the steak--that's how PZ got food poisoning--from a Mexican Restaurant's steak. YUCK! :p

Hey everyone :). To update on the french restaurant, I had no control over what I was eating yesterday. A very interesting night which went on for FOUR hours. My client just went ahead and told the waiter we'll all get the "taste menu". Whatever that is.. Well it turned out to be several TINY courses of very --shall we say-- interesting food. I can't remember everything I had because there was a course of a different expensive wine (not that I can really tell the difference anyhow lol) in between each course of food. So to start off I had one little oyster on a half shell and 2 other tiny little appetizers (one was this little deep fried ball of some sort), this was the first time I slurped down one of those raw shell fish (ick wont be repeating that); then next was 3 tiny chunks of some very nice fish with some kind of sauces and things on the plate, next was a modest portion of tuna tartar (being another first but this was really good, not sure I'd eat raw fish again however), and next was a [very] small portion of meat with some sauce on the plate, plus I had 2 rolls with butter, and then the desert course, again a bunch of interesting very tasty things on my plate but I have no idea what it was. So who can guess as to how many calories that would be? I can't quite figure it out. This client was so generous to take us to a nice restaurant like that there was no way I could get away with not eating any of the courses. I could've avoided the rolls but I was starving by the time we got there. Luckily I had only eaten 500 calories for the whole day before going to the dinner and I exercised for an hour. Today I'm hungover so no exercise but I've only had 200 calories all day as I figure I need to stay around 1450 for the next 3 days to reach my weekly calorie goal. We shall see..but I am trying. Will kick the exercise into high gear tomorrow..

As for my teammates, I'm so inspired by all your efforts. Your updates really spur me on!

Thanks Curvie. I'm becoming an athlete! OOUUU!! From couch to marathoner, now to triathlete!

Hey guys

Just checking in. I have been really good about getting my exercise in and this challenge and cleaned up my diet. It's IMMACULATE. Thank you SO much. I just know I can't do badly because then I'll let other people down. Accountability!

ANYWAY, bad news...I think. I threw out my back a year ago. It was the was the worst pain I have EVER experienced. I was like..immobilized from pain for a good 2 days. WELL, yesterday when I got home from the gym I had that feeling again. The same feeling I had in my back right before I threw it out. I started freaking out because omg I cannot go through that pain again. I've been taking Aleve every two hours and I slept with a heating pad on my back. I think I'm going to have to take it easy for the next few days at the gym. I really hope I can put in my hours for the week! I'm sorry guys :-/ I totally wasn't expecting this.

You're doing a great job! Just be careful so you avoid re-injuring your back. That's what's important. Hope you feel better :).

Uh, I hope you feel better so you can go get started on the bike. I used to be really into biking along time ago..used to go around 30 miles a day and it really kept me very fit. I never did the clips though.. You go girlie!

I love Mexican! Yum yum..

I think we are all doing exceptionally well and being great as accountability members of this team:)We are all kicking ass!

Fingers Crossed! WOW, Dee, good for you! :hurray: I suppose I shall have to do the San Jose Rock N Roll Halfer again this October--last year's was FUN and the weather was perfect! Maybe I can beat my time!

Are you training outside or just on the treadmill or both?

Yeah, its the next rational step in my running right???

OHHHH the ROCK N ROLLLLL!! Step and I have been looking into those they have them everywhere... its on our TO DO list. We also hope to run the Boston someday, but we may have to go BANDIT style! HA HA

Right now just running on the mill and once its gets warmer out I'll head outdoors. We are going to joing the JCC (Jewish Community Center... no we are not jewish but its a great center) this weekend and they have a running club that we are considering joining. But honestly I think I run better when I am alone even without Stephen.....

Sounds like you had a good time Claud... I wouldn't worry to much about it... I think outtings like that fit into the "lifestyle change" category if you know what I mean... just like girls night out and birthday cake. :):)

1450 is a failry good amount of food... just shoot for low cal high fiber foods and you should be all set!! I've also found that skim milk is a great filler too!!! You can do it lady!!!!

Woot Woot!!

Claudia, points be damned! Next time I want to come. I'm sure the client would love me :troll:

Dee, that tortilla soup sounds so good. I roasted a chicken last night and made stock from the leftovers, so I think I'll be making tortilla soup from some of it instead of my usual chicken and barley soup.

Lovely Lady, have you used the clip in pedals before? I have them on my mountain bike and they are great. Unfortunately it takes some getting used to unclipping them (which is very important at times) so I've ended up like a turtle on my back with my bike in the air. Very funny visual, if my wife's laughter is any indicator.

I was looking at the spread sheet and it looks like we are kicking ass going into the weekend (or should I say kicking cheeks). Keep it strong, team.:smash:

You just made my eyes water with that visual. I'm trying to hold back laughs in my office. I've never used clips and I've heard several stories of people not being able to unclip fast enough and down they go. I'm very clumsy so I anticipate having a lot of falls...LOL My hope though is to take the bike out in an empty parking lot and practice stopping really quick and unclipping. I'm sure it will take some getting used to. I'll also make sure they fitting it set to "loose" at first so I can get out fast.

Claud, Mexican was delicious. I had a salad and ice tea.

WOW I wish I was there  I would have gone nuts over the wine--Chris wants to take me to Fleur de Lys, a five star restaurant that his chef class went to :eek2: I can't believe he wants to take me, but you better believe I wouldn't eat much at all that day, if the day comes! I'm sorry to say this, honey, but I guess that each course was, as small as they are, around 300-600 calories each because of the butter. But you could rate it on how full you were--were you stuffed? If not, maybe not!

Everyone inspires me, too! I wouldn't be able to diet without you all :grouphug:

Yesterday I ate 1938 calories, and ran and did Yoga 2. I really suffered through keeping the cals down--I bitched all about it in my diary but basically I was obsessed with food all night, and slightly dizzy but I made it to bed without going over. This morning I freaked out becuase I dropped 2 pounds from yesterday and I have no idea how or why. But I'm almost certain it's a false reading. However, I'll continue to stay under 2000 cals this weekend, which may be easy since I can't drink. I'm certain alcohol has got my diet EVERY WEEKEND so far, which is why I'd been at 145.5 for a month. Steve stressed the importance of weight training, so I might just go do that after work before the giant circus/dance party tonight  I did NOT get to go to Friday afternoon Yoga today.

Why are we kicking ass so completely? Well, I just noticed that out chat thread has 511 postings, to Team 2's which has 292. Team support! :grouphug:

The best way to start with clip-in pedals is to go next to a picnic table. Keep one foot on the table and clip in and unclip the other foot a few times. Then switch sides. Then pedal around the parking lot with one foot clipped in, then switch. You'll get used to it, and for road used it's not so bad. On trails you end up stopping and starting a lot, and sometimes unexpectedly, so you have to be good...or else.

I think running is a great sport, and I'm glad to see you like it. :) I love seeing other runners and I'm really happy to know you don't have issues that prevent it. Some of us just have bodies that can't run without injury, and that sucks, but there are other things to do, for sure. Still, we're lucky we have good knees! RIGHT?!?! use em or lose em! ;)

REALLY?? Do you like the alone time?

Yeah, when I first started it was pretty brutal. My body did not want to run and everything hurt. But I pushed through and kept at it. Stephen is a runner so he is the main reason I started so he and I could run together all cute... It was funny the first time we ran together I kept getting cat called and he just smiled all proudly... and I just laughed!!

My knees do hate me on occasion but not bad enough to make me stop, I worry more about my hip flexors than anything.

I do like the alone time, but I always have a good time with Step too... he pushes me so thats good but at the same time we always have great conversations when we are running... When I'm alone its just me time that I like... Step and I spend tons of time together so its nice to get away every once and a while ya know?

blancita, you cant pass up opportunities like the french restaurant...i mean would you have ever done that on your own? it sounds very nice...just compensate with some exercise i guess..hell life happens..there will be birthdays, bbq's, celebrations etc..we have to learn how to deal with them best we can

well i didnt exercise yesterday...came home and the hubby wanted to go out to dinner to this place that has all you an eat fish fry..not my fave place but i said okay but no to the fatgirlfishportion...i had 13 points left and ended up having broiled red snapper/baked tato & green beans...also they have this amazing ranch dressing so i had a salad with that on the side and dipped my fork...i asked the waitress what brand dressing it was and she said its totally homemade, secret recipe type thing...gawd is it wonderful...oh and 2 glasses of wine. I stayed within my points because i had some weekly left but i HAVE to exercise today. I am on the ice (skating coach) for like 5 hours today but alot is standing. I am going to TRY to keep moving a little more than usual. I think I will try to walk at least 1/2 hour before I go because after 5 hours in the cold, I will come home and basically crash. The hubby made chili so I will take that with me for food...

Okay, this is the most boring boring post ever...

off to make coffee and start my day

If I only hadn't ordered pizza...Bad day at school led to dinner with teachers at mexican restaurant which led to the liquor store and ultimately pizza. I'm one of those folks with the drunk munchies. One bad day in more than a week is still improvement for me (sad, huh?), so I'm not bashing myself over the head. I'll be a good girl today.

I'm still planning on squeezing all my exercise into this long weekend. I'm sure I can do it. Yea!

Sooooo I totally thought that I wouldn't get my food points yesterday.... I made calzones for dinner and I caled one to have about 760 cals in it... the dough and cheese were the big killer... the sauce and veggies were nothing. I ate 3/4 of mine but was still pretty high for a meal.... oddly enough i still ended with a 927 deficit!!!! LOL seriously how does that happen????

Anyway, today is planning a baby shower for my sister in law with my mom as well as an electrolysis appointment (hair removal) the best thing on earth!!!

Keep it up teamies!!! And have a good weekend!

Quick update--I'm almost late for work :p

1800 calories yesterday--I accidentally skipped dinner and went dancing with PZ at the show, but when we got home we ate bananas and peanut butter in bed and drank coconut water our of a young coconut at the show. I'm so hungry this morning I ate string cheese, a burrito, and a raw nut bar and drank a Kombucha and am up to 11 calories already! LOL! This is fine; I need the energy to be on my feet all day dealing with drunk people  Gotta go! :leaving:
