Weight-Loss Team 1 Chat Thread

Weight-Loss
Crap were we supposed to weigh ourselves today?! We were. Dangit.

I don't have a scale and I usually weigh myself at the gym scale but I already worked out.

Hmm...I get done by class at 2PM so I'll try and hunt down a scale. IF NOT, then I will update tomorrow morning (Tuesday).

Sorry guys! I totally forgot. I'm so used to weighing myself just the 9th every month ;x

I was looking over the spreadsheet and it seems like everyone is doing great with eating AND exercising. GO TEAM 1!! :)

Jes, you can weigh either mon OR tues. While your LAST weigh in counts for points and must be done on the right date, your week to week date doesn't have to be totally accurate if its impossible since you get no points anyway. So do the best you can but just put in your last weight if you can't get a reading mon or tues. Just make sure the last reading in week 6 of the contest is done on the right day. I'm trying to be flexible so people dont have to jump through hoops to participate.

Main thing is that IF YOU HAVEN"T STUCK TO YOUR EATING PLAN, DO NOT GIVE YOURSELF POINTS. You must DESERVE those points by eating well and sticking to the plan you have set for yourself. It must be a plan that reasonably leads to weight loss.

I'll have to try the bacon..

My grill is slanted downward so hopefully the grease will drip down to the front rather than the back. What else did you make aside from the bacon?? I guess just regular meats with some marinade? Do the meats come out ok without the marinade? Did you try grilled veggies? If so which veggies. Looking for ideas..

mine was slanted as well. what i mean is instead of falling directly into the drip container it sort of created a stream along the bottom and would drip just behind the container. I didn't put too much effort into marinades and stuff then because i was a much busier person then i am now but one onf my favourite things to do was add onions on top as well as any spices i would normally cook with carlic, pepper, basil... whatever.... they always add such a nice flavour to almost anything. one thing i remember doing was cut full sized chicken breast through the width and stuff them with cheese sometimes onion sometimes pasta sauce... i really like to be creative... a full breast can be quite large so you would probably want to cut it in half afterward.
I just basically cooked EVERYTHING on it... all of my meat and sometimes veggies too... I like bell pepers of all colours... i dont know if you ever if you ever cook veggies on the BBQ like shishkabobs all those work good on it too... speaking of shishkabobs you can make them on theyre too... just stick favourite meats (chicken, shrimp, steak) marinated if you like and your favourite veggies (peppers, Tomatoes, Onions), on a stick. you can get them at the grocery store im sure. and your good to go plus kids love em... at least i know i did and mine do. theyre way too fun and kids like making their own... any who i have to go pick up my daughter from school... be back soon

thanks LLH!!! that spreadsheet is the tits!

Ya I agree the Spread sheet ROCKS!

Thank you ladies. I have to agree, the spreadsheet has really added some spice to this challenge. When you can see what everyone else is doing on a real time basis in one quick view it lights a fire under your ass. I don't know why we didn't do this sooner! The technology has been out there for a while!

I really enjoy logging into the spreadsheet daily and looking at everyone's progress...it also allows us to be cheerleaders to those that really need it. I'm proud of everyone for stepping up their game. We got another 5 weeks to go and I am looking forward to seeing everyone drop some mad weight!

So i'm 2 ounces away from being down a full 2 pounds this week:)
maybe by tomorrow, if i'm really lucky, before this week is closed i'll have that other 2 ounces in the bag

I added Week 2's challenge to the "Bonus Challenges" tab in our spreadsheet.

I also wanted to point out that there is a chat room feature in the spreadsheet in case you want to chat (like yahoo IM) with others in the spreadsheet. To access the chat feature go to the upper right corner where is says "and X others are viewing" or "viewing now" (1st pic below circled in red); click on the arrow to the right of the text and a chat box will pop down (2nd pic below). If there are more than one colored box at the top of the chat box that means other people are in the spreadsheet and you can chat with them.

Try it out!! Hopefully someone is in the room to chat with you. LOL

I used to love quesadillas on my GF grill.

I agree with Blancita! I have already exercised more than twice the amount I (really really in the heart of hearts) planned!! I'm pretty excited about it!!

I weigh every day (or, because I have tried to eat well for ONE DAY I decide that I deserve a celebration and eat everything I can buy), so I'm not sure I'll have much in the way of weight loss tomorrow. Maybe a couple pounds.
I highlighted the awful joke that nearly came out...:)

Great job spartacus!!!!! So glad you're part of the competition and on OUR side!

I finished my 45 mins today at lunchtime. Did 15 minutes on the stair stepper, 20 mins on the elliptical, and 10 mins on the bike. YAY! I would've blown that off FOSHOW had my challenge buddies (and my own ego) not been relying on me. So thanks again for making it a good week. Given that I walk an average of 1 mile per day in this city just going from point A to point B (which I dont count even though I'm walking BRISKLY), I hope that's enough exercise to shed some weight.

I decided to keep my plans with my girlfriend despite the fear of overeating because she's leaving town again and the poor thing's BF just broke up with her. The only good part about that is that she's lost her appetite so I wont be drooling over her food. We will keep it light and I WILL keep within my remaining calories of 1550. And when I do that, I will get ALL MY POINTS!

The weight, well that's another story. I will do one more week at 1800 average cals per day, given that we've got to do 5 hours of exercise next week to get our bonus points. If no weight comes off by then, I will have to lower to 1700 cals per day average. I know that lots of people are lower, but I get STARVING and dont know if I can do it. OOOOPPS. YES I CAN DO IT. So I will probably lower my calories in one more week.

Dont forget to update the spreadsheet by Tuesday afternoon to get your points in.

Unfortunately, I appear to be doing the WORST out of everyone posting as far as meeting her eating plan goal for the day  Thursday and Saturday I went over 2100 calories. About 10 days before my period I get hungrier :piggy:--and I'm only on Day 22, this sucks. However, I've been working out like a MADWOMAN. Lots of Yoga as usual, and I even managed to run 3 times this "week" with a day of HIIT Kickboxing, and a nice hike in the forest yesterday :) I feel bad about dragging down the team, but I just can't LIE to you guys on here, and at the same time I'm really happy to get in 4 days of cardio in a seven day period. Before this time, I'd been barely getting in 2 days a week! :hurray:

Today is a struggle. I'm hungrier than usual and I ate a Sees chocolate bar that my co-worker gave to me. My cals are already at 1570, leaving me with little to have this evening, but I have a facial after work and am going straight home, so as long as I tuck myself in early and have a salad with no calorie-laden dressing, I should be fine.

Unfortunately I still need to get a battery for my scale, and I don't usually make it on WLF on the weekends, so Claudia, I might be slow on the draw for your rules--sorry about that but I'm doing the best I can and still have a life! Glad to see all you ladies seem to be doing GREAT and I posted my "before" pics in the other thread. Thanks for the motivation!

Great job on the exercise!! Don't beat yourself up about the eating. I get hungrier too when TOM is here. I think the first week people are pretty motivated but we'll see how we do over the long haul. We all can't eat perfect every day...and if we did, why are we overweight in the first place? LOL And you are not dragging down the team!! Get that nonsense out of your head. xoxo

Val, don't be hard on yourself. You can do this :)

RELAX, take a deep breath, and carry on! Tomorrow is a new day!!!

Ms Valerie I'm very flexible with "my rules" :smash:. The only reason everyone needs their points in by Tues @ 12pm is because the person with the lowest score of the lowest scoring team gets eliminated from the challenge. Its not a problem if you cant post your weight as there are no points for weight loss until the last weigh-in. No need to check in on weekends sweetie though you will be missed :).

we are here together..shoulder to shoulder...dont be so hard on yourself....do the best you can..and look to us if you need strength for anything..sometimes you just need someone to lean on.......

hugs

I ended up eating well tonight at dinner with my friend. We shared some of the hummus and other dip appetizers, I stuck to 2 pieces of bread, selzer water plus a 1/2 glass of wine at her house, and I ordered a small cucumber/tomate salad. No entre and not a million pieces of yummy fresh Turkish bread. I'm actually feeling a little peckish right now so a good sign hehe.

You are an awesome team just to give me that motivation! Now, if I can only keep this up for the entire 6 weeks..

Eating again spot on today. 1596 cal wise.

Attempted a run but just wasn't feeling it.... I'll shoot for a run tomorrow morning.

Bring on week 2.

I have to say that being part of this team has really kept me in check. If it wasn't for the fact that any slip up would cost my team points, I would have had a pig out weekend. Thanks, ladies, for keeping me in check. :hurray:

Full points for Trops this week. :smash: On to next week.:auto:
