Weight-Loss Team 1 Chat Thread

Weight-Loss
Hey!! My weekend sucked major ass. My knee is still jacked, no exercise, and I spent all of saturday in bed sick with a stomach bug. I will be taking the munchkin to school in a bit, then have a lunch meeting with a friend for the charity event, another meeting at 1:00, visit my cousin in the hospital at 2:00, then hit the gym for a workout. My knee is still hurting but I can't do another day without exercise, it's killing me! I'm addicted to running and I miss it! Plus I still have to get 1.5 hours of exercise in for the challenge. I'll just have to take it easy on my knees, avoid a lot of bending. I may have to break out my dorky "Forrest Gump" metal knee braces that I'm supposed to wear. You know, the ones with the hinges at the knees. LOL!!

Go team!!! I'll check back in later!!

Sunday I did my 45 minutes on the elliptical as planned. I was busy in the morning and afternoon, so I left it for the evening. Had I not had my team relying on me, honestly I would normally NOT do exercise in the evening on the weekend. I get lazier and lazier as the day goes by. So THANKS for the motivation peeps! I was proud of myself..

I also did great with the eating, sticking to 1500 calories. Again, weekends I typically eat A LOT. Hence why I'm normally gaining rather than losing. This challenge really has me in line so I hope some weight will come off, eventually???

I used to hate counting calories because I was always sort of estimating, but now I have a food scale that I love! Its so easy to use and it was only around $15. So I'm measuring all my portions out on my scale and I feel like this is so much more accurate. I think sometimes I was even overestimating before. Who would have thought that one serving of Smartfood popcorn is almost 2 bowls of popcorn?! Cool!

Oh and I got a George Foreman grill this weekend too, a small one is only $24. Yesterday I cooked homemade french fries on the grill. I cut up a fresh potato, added some garlic salt and olive oil and threw them on the grill for 30 minutes. They came out really good. I went to the supermarket and bought a bunch of meat to last us the next 2 weeks (12 dinners). I found all these great recipes online for marinades for the GF grill. So I bought some marinades and some ingredients and I will get creative. Then when you cook, all the grease slides off in to this little plastic thing. YAY! Apparently meat cooks in less than 5 minutes on the grill so I'll let you know if the grill is recommended. So far so good.

Got my 30 mins of step in this morning. feeling good... Calories on the down low just like they should be... i cant wait for my workout this afternoon and to see what the weigh in turns out to be :)

Blancita, I had a family sized george forman grill for a couple years and used it every day. it wast really a focus on losing weight (though i think thats why my grandma gave it to me *rolls eyes*) but i prefer grilled food over baked, it just tastes better! i ended up getting rid of it because it was getting worn out. my only complaint was the fat always seemed to drip behind the tray somehow so i always had a napkin ther to soak it up. I know baccon isnt the best for us right now but those things cook baccon amazingly! the best tasting baccon I ever had.

You can weigh in Mon or Tues. All points must be entered by Tues at 12pm EST.

Thanks :)

So 12pm meaning 12 in the afternoon? So i need to have my weight in by 9am my time?I will record my weight as of now and then if there is a change I will change it tomorrow before cut off time

I hope you are drinking alot of water for your stomach bug...dehydration can be a bitch....

I would never know what it would be like to be addicted to running...i faking hate it..I tried to get into it last year but FAK_A_DAK...it sucked. Maybe once I lose a little weight I will feel differently....Can you walk comfortably on it? Dont push it because we want you "in commission" for the challenge..get healthy!!! :)...gotta be some low impact stuff u can do...

thank you for worrying about us...

I'll have to try the bacon..

My grill is slanted downward so hopefully the grease will drip down to the front rather than the back. What else did you make aside from the bacon?? I guess just regular meats with some marinade? Do the meats come out ok without the marinade? Did you try grilled veggies? If so which veggies. Looking for ideas..

I grilled peppers and just meats , meats were fine wiht out marinade you can dress them up afterwards it is messy when they are dressed...Cant remeber what else I did...

After my 30mins swim this morning I secured the 100 exercise points this week. I meant to do a long run this weekend and yoga but did yoga and 30 mins of cycling instead. Doesn't matter though. Got enough exercise to get in the 100 points!! OOUUU!!

Claudia, I need to update the spreadsheet to add Week 2 results now. How should I do this? Should I add it in the same scoreboard tab or create a new tab for Week 2? I was thinking about putting it on the same scoreboard tab but in front of Week 1 that way as the weeks go by we don't have to scroll way to the right to enter results. Sound good?

Also, I add a column in the very front that has "cumulative points".

How does that sounds?

I'm backing up the spreadsheet every few days just incase anything weird happens. And I get a daily digest of everyone that went into the spreadsheet and made changes :) If you need to see any of these lemme know.

GO TEAM 1!!!

Thanks LLH, your spreadsheet ideas sound perfect.

Cool, I'll update it later tonight to add in Week 2. I'll try to find a time when no one is in the file to do that. Should only take me a few mins.

For those that are a day ahead, they will just need to track their info until I get Week 2 set up.

Crap were we supposed to weigh ourselves today?! We were. Dangit.

I don't have a scale and I usually weigh myself at the gym scale but I already worked out.

Hmm...I get done by class at 2PM so I'll try and hunt down a scale. IF NOT, then I will update tomorrow morning (Tuesday).

Sorry guys! I totally forgot. I'm so used to weighing myself just the 9th every month ;x

I was looking over the spreadsheet and it seems like everyone is doing great with eating AND exercising. GO TEAM 1!! :)
