🏋️‍♀️Science of Diet and Exercise Journal👩‍🎓

pulled the trigger on ordering 2 sets of BFR bands this morning, more and more studies keep popping up. Of interest to me is that training tendons requires very heavy loads to build resilient tendons and recent science shows that the same effect can be achieved with light loads and BFR.

Also last night I had another incident trying to pull into my driveway that left me shaking for hours afterwards, I am fucking fed up bad drivers on a bad road, it is only luck that more people are not dying.

I remember trying them out in my previous job and thinking my skin would tear if I used them for more than just a demonstration. But then I had very thin skin at the time. It's a fascinating concept but it feels kind of hostile and alien. Very curious to see where it'll go.

Would it help if people started reporting near-accidents, either to the municipality or a public website? Having a public record of them might make it harder for the people in charge to get away with dumb stuff like the guy said yesterday.

That stretch of road near you seems treacherous. We seem to see more idiotic drivers on the road these days, but also there is so much more traffic, so much road work & everyone seems incredibly impatient & in a hurry. I'm glad you're ok, Tru.

I have been considering it for quite a while for testing it out for building muscle size, but the rehab aspect and the ability to make strengthening tendons a little easier has finally won me over enough to experiment with them on myself first. The tendon aspect is big as far as sport is concerned because as much as you may put a ton of effort into moderate exercise after the handover from physical therapist to coach it doesn't make much difference in preventing tendon injuries reoccurring and a lot of people cannot handle the loads required to make a difference. I don't have thin skin but I can see where that may be an issue for some. I will see how I go taking the science and adapting it to real world coaching which is always a challenge. We all know there is rarely a nice easy transition from the science to real world application.

It is truly terrifying in places. Ls life support will be turned of at 7:14 pm tonight.

It is only going to get worse when the highway bypass of Gympie happens as people will no longer need to go through town to get onto our road to go to Rainbow Beach and K'Gari (Fraser Island) and speed up the time it takes to get here from Brisbane. Our area will become the new Noosa.

Me too. Accidents are always tragic but when the people involved are so young it's even more heart-breaking.

After all the drama it is hard to get back to normal.

Spent time in the gym today recording material for a weeks worth of video, I was able to mostly avoid having my face in them but 1 out of 7 videos is not too bad, each video is one of the FMS tests.

I will try to fit in some rowing later, food has not been great, low on calories and protein but I have some skinless chicken breast in the Air Fryer.

Coaching this arvo will be challenging as period cramps are bad today, I will do some rowing shortly as exercise sometimes helps me.

just scheduled another reel for later today, I am a bit nervous as I hate my own voice but did a very limited voiceover. Just experimenting this week, publishing 1 each of the FMS tests each day to get a feel for the response, I am not good with video and I hate it. I am much better with photography but social media needs movement and sound.

I don't think little miss will ever have the same issues, she loves being on stage in front of people or being recorded on video

the theory is more eyes on content will eventually generate more interest from locals. I would rather be in the gym coaching or at uni studying instead of making videos.

Isn't it wonderful how these things can change in just one generation? Here's hoping she preserves that self-confidence.

Coaching last night went well last night, R set a new deadlift PB giving him something to be proud and happy about and he and his mum were very happy to have it filmed to be shared on social media.

Woke up with a terrible headache this morning but is starting to feel a bit better now, so time to go and cook some eggs for brekkie.

Well done, R 👏
Glad that headache went away, Tru. I get so many headaches with my allergies, but morning ones are the pits!

I am struggling badly today, it is 41c in the shade on the verandah and still climbing, the birds are struggling in the heat despite shade in their pens and plenty of water and to top it all off hubby is out fighting a bushfire near little miss's school.

no appetite and sweating buckets

23 fire trucks deployed so far according to RFS, 43c on the Verandah now, people are being evacuated, so far friends are ok but it is climbing the mountain and friends live on the other side.

I hope hubby is ok, this heat is a killer, let alone fighting a fire in it

this heat is insane, 36 outside at 9:30 am

I am feeling super drained, the fire is still a problem but one of the parents I was chatting to at school drop off said her house was ok after the RFS spent the day protecting it yesterday. The hope is that the wind continues to only be light and doesn't change direction.

36 is double what it is here at 11 am! That would be horrible. The RFS does an amazing job. I hope everything settles down, Tru.

Fingers crossed for non-dangerous wind. And some cooler temps; I'm meltimg just thinking about that kind of weather.
