realworksuks vs [Focus] - "LIKE DONKEY KONG, SON!"

WTF! Dude that was one of the most saddening posts I've read before. Are you alright? Get yourself healthy man, that is the most important thing. It sounds like you are hurtin.

Nerve issues in your arm are usually indicative of something going on in your neck.

Nerve issues in your lower extremities are usually indicative of something going on in your lumbar/SI.

I think your doctor is a twit for not sending you physio (at the very least) ... I would have insisted I get an MRI of my cervical and lumbar spine.

And your knee? I'd get that looked at, too. Don't let doctors tell you "it's normal wear and tear". Most doctors just can't be bothered actually paying attention to their patients. You're hurting. You need help.

But I definitely feel your pain ...

:eek2:

Said it before and I'll say it again, your doctor is completely retarded. Go find one who doesn't suck. One who actually knows sports medicine, if possible. A lot of people don't realize this, but your average MD doesn't know **** about ****. Remember, the regular "physician" is usually the C student of the lot. Generally not very bright, (maybe compared to some rice farmers, but then, who isn't?) and only in it to get a degree and then punch out the clock. Which would be why most of them are such assholes. They only learned anything they were ever required to know, which believe me, isn't really much, because they don't care, and forgot most of it shortly after they squeaked by. Further, almost none of what they do know and will actually bother to tell you intersects with what, say, an MSc of Kinesiology would.

I figured the quiet meant something like you were completely broken! But in the "I'll be better in a week or two but right now I can't do much" sense, not the "I'm slowly rotting because I'm not making an effort to get good medical care!"

What I would do is ask around a bit, do some research, and find a quality doctor. Then, have him refer you to a good.. what do you kids call them there, uh, kinesiotherapist? And see what each has to say. I realize this will cost you some money, but believe me, it's well worth it, even if you have to go into debt. Actually, iirc, there are various organizations that offer (nearly-, in some cases)interest free loans, if necessary, for medical reasons.

Thanks for your support guys, yeah....... I totally know that most doctors don't know **** about ****, it's a shame. I dunno, it seems like it's not worth going to them unless you are on the verge of death.

Something kinda dawned on me today though... after I started my new job about 3 weeks ago I started drinking four cups of coffee per day, combine this with about 12 sticks of gum per day and that is a lot of caffeine/aspartame, both of which might be contributing to this numbness. It actually spread into my face today, no lie. So, I am gonna stop drinking coffee and stop chewing gum, uhhhhh and hope for the best. If that doesn't work, I probably will go to a better doctor.

It seems like I may have made this seem a lot more tragic and bad then it really was... I am still lifting and kicking ass! Cutting workouts are just so boring to post.. ha, I don't make much strength gains so it's the same workout every day... looking forward to bulking bbbaby!

Aight, 'cause, it's not really any fun kicking your ass if you're already dying. ;)

I do remember you mentioning a couple of times about the caffeine sensitivity.. don't think that's it, but who knows. I'm wrong pretty often.

Me, I'm currently taking in over 1000mg a day. That's 10'ish cups of coffee, assuming you mean regular cups and not epic 32 oz cups, in which case you're getting a bit more than I am, even, and almost the dose most "doctors" would say is "potentially fatal". For someone who's not functionally immune to the consequences of taking that much like I am to be drinking that is, I'd agree, a little.. not bright. :p

Hey, did you ever get that TV? Is nice? ^_^

you might be onto something. I quit all artificial sweeteners and caffeine about 2 weeks ago because I was getting severe body aches. Muscle and bone. It was getting bad. I was limping around after my workouts like someone had beat me a few times over with a 2x4. After 3 days I noticed a HUGE difference. After 2 weeks I feel awesome. Nothing hurts after long runs, nothing hurts after lifting. I feel GREAT. I really think that stuff is pure evil-as much as I love it.

Exciting news from miss sparrow!

Being obnoxious, I feel compelled to add that caffeine and artificial sweeteners have roughly the opposite effect on me. Err, in general terms of bad and good. I don't actually get sore or hurt or anything. Sorry if that's also obnoxious, it.. it be true. Just sayin', it's all specific to the person. But, the odds are good your specificity is more in alignment with our bird's than mine, which could mean a very simple fix. Wooh. :D

Tangent: right now I'm actually drinking diet grapefruit soda sweetened with aspartame as a potassium supplement, no joke. At 1500 calories a day I figure I deserve something. 2L of this stuff = 2g of potassium and a whole lotta deliciousness. Mmm, mm. Also, I'm convinced that the moment my body thinks its been given something sweet, it turns the furnace up, regardless of whether or not there are any actual calories in it. Sometime next week when I'm not so busy I'm gonna do a couple blood tests to check whether I'm imagining it or not. Yes, I am that much of a crazy person.

so, it started with my hand and arm...

I went and worked out again, it spread to my leg and foot...

Worked out again, spread into my face...

worked out again last night..... every time taking it real easy..... and it spread into my side.

So my entire right side is numb except my shoulder region........

Uh... I see a connection here, it seems to be the lifting that is causing this.

What the hell is going on with me?

I already made an appointment with a neurologist..... but can't get in for a few weeks.

Hard to tell without a whole lot of in-person type diagnostics. Hope it's nothing too serious, though.

I want you to know that, given the circumstances, I won't mock you excessively when I put up my progress pics and stats. :p

No but seriously, dun worry about it. A month or two or whatever is only a tiny bit of your life. And worrying is useless anyway. In the meantime, I would just stop lifting entirely and maybe take up something like swimming just for the hell of it (and to take your mind off not getting to lift).

I've been thinking of starting World of Warcraft... ha. I hear it's really addicting so I have stayed away, but if I am just sitting around after work......

Oh, and I haven't gotten that TV yet, I was gonna but........ I dunno, I noticed some response time lag on an 8ms response time TV and the one you showed me had 6ms, I think I will just wait until they all but eliminate the response time issue..... or until I get a really sick deal.

World of Warcraft? No.

I hope you get that **** fixed ASAP rws...if I had something like that spread all over me, I'd grab a doctor by his shirt and wave my fist in front of him telling him: "Are you sure you can only give me an appointment in a couple of weeks?"

Anyhow, keep kicking ass you two.

I can't beleive they are making you wait for this.

I'd inquire at a bunch of different sports clinics and talk to the savvy local gym owner, if you got one. All your efforts should be concentrated on getting better now.

:D

take care

the fact of the matter is:

I need to see a specialist. I could see other doctors sooner, but I have an appointment with a very good neurologist in a few weeks... I don't wanna spend thousands of dollars on a guy that knows nothing.

this is from Lyle Mcdonald to Focus...

"In one small pilot study, dieters were categorized as either insulin sensitive or insulin resistant and then either put on a high or low-carbohydrate diet. So there were four groups.

1. Insulin sensitive: high carbs

2. Insulin sensitive: low carbs

3. Insulin resistant: high carbs

4. Insulin resistant: low carbs

And while all groups lost weight (calories were the same), the insulin sensitive group did better with high carbs and the insulin resistant group did better with low-carbs. This is right in line with previous empirical observations."

Yeah, I saw that. Very encouraging. It's nice when people do studies that attempt to make sense. And have more-than-potential real world applications. :)

Speaking from the anecdotal (or empirical, if you like), I (currently XD) think you're between insulin resistant and normal on the spectrum and I'm between insulin sensitive and normal. Interestingly enough, this is in direct contrast to what our respective (untrained) body types would suggest (according to the conventional wisdom).

My friends I have, through months of rigorous application of the scientific method, deduced that if I eat almost nothing (1000-1500 cals per day) and get quite a lot of exercise (3+ hours of training a day on average), I will actually lose weight (see: lose more fat than I put on muscle).

I am sorry if these informations shock and alarm, but I felt it my duty to inform the people of this wondrous discovery.

aye, you are right, that is pretty funny.. heh.

Let's hope, indeed. :(
