Petals diary

I find the food log exceedingly helpful. I had been eating relatively healthy for the last few years, but most of my weight gain came from eating much too much. Now I eat a lot less, but I am eating a few higher calorie things that satiate hunger and mostly very low calorie things for the rest. I think I am getting to the point where I don't feel exhausted from eating less because I am figuring out healthy things that give me lasting energy. The calorie counter has been really helpful for this.

That makes sense Marsia . LaMa I think you are right so I used 2200 calories on Tuesday yesterday only 2000 so I really need to watch my calorie intake.

I'm struggling to find time to keep everything going with work family diary , walking , activities and not add a food log in mix . But ok it has to be done .

Right now I need to get up and iron ! Keeps me moving . Tbh I think I eat pretty good but def need to move more .

Well I downloaded MFP again . Apparently I had an account! So I have had a big lunch as I am out this eve .

I tracked everything I put im it , took forever but I will get used to it .
Have about 500 cals left for the day but so far I have had
Fruit yoghurt and low sugar granola for breakfast
Banana mid day
Late late lunch - warm chicken salad with lettuce spring onion beetroot tomatoe one potatoe 1/4 apple tablespoon of flakes almonds and salad dressing

I was really hungry before it so had 2 cubes of cheese and after my daughter made me a coffee and gave me a square of dark chocolate .

It’s an eye opener for sure

I like the sound of your salad! Logging food may not be exciting or glamorous but it can be really helpful.

I am amazed by some of the healthy things I was eating that were so high in calories that I should have only had maybe 1/4 of what I was eating, so I view food logging as a fantastic way to train myself on what to eat and how much. It's kinda like taking a nutrition course for free. So though it is a pain, eventually when I am skinny, I will know how to maintain my healthy diet. I also stop myself from eating junk because I am too lazy to log it in the calorie counter!

You do get used to MFP & the more you use it, the easier it gets. Marsia & I are on it & I am CateAussie if you want to add me. I save a lot of meals that I have regularly, so it's easier to add them. Recipes take a lot more time & I don't think you have much of that.
Well done on finishing the day 200 under :)

I am Marsia2 on MFP if you want to add me as a friend. I only use it for keeping a chart of my weight loss, for logging exercise, and for logging meals. I like changing my current weight under the user settings and then looking at the report page which shows weights for the month or for 3 months. After I lose a couple of pounds I reward myself by looking at the line going down on the little chart and it makes me happy. I am easily amused! :)

Also it's nice that you can check the foods you frequently eat because it keeps track of what you usually eat for each meal.

Really great you are under by 200 calories!! :) :)

Marsia I am easily amused too . Simple things keep me interested. I have sent requests now to you both . MFP was good this morn as I had same breakfast as yesterday. I actually weighed my different fruits . Wow so low on calories .

And I counted out my almonds . Had to have something as was really hungry . I Think I have being mindlessly eating food thinking it was ok for me . I am truly gobsmacked at how calories add up .

I wish I could eat bananas! I come in low on potassium every day AND I love their taste. Bloody allergies.

Bananas are excellent golf food. I love a banana with my oats for breakfast sometimes(like this morning).

I like pistachios because they are an appetite suppressant, and I get them with the shells on so it takes a while to eat them. So I can have a half cup of pistachios with the shells on which is nice psychologically so it looks like I had a lot, plus it takes about 15 minutes of casual grazing to eat them, so by the time I am done, my stomach registers that I ate something and is satisfied. With almonds, I act like a rabbit and just nibble the ends of them like I am trying to slowly shave a little off of them at a time. Then they last a while longer.

Great you are seeing the benefits of the calorie counter already. I was really shocked by the snacking, too, and how much everything added up. Thank goodness for fruit and yogurt!
