Petals diary

Hi Petal, I hope you don't stress too much about the times you stay the same weight - not gaining weight is a good accomplishment, too. (I have to remind myself that so I don't stress myself out and eat junk.) Plus you haven't been feeling well, so I hope you are kind to yourself!!!

Sending you lots of comforting soup and vitamin C, and hope you have a fantastic vacation at your beach house!! Sounds wonderful!
Thanks Marsia no I don't stress too much anymore . Just want to live healthy and enjoy
Thanks for the soup and vitamin

Remember to drink loads of water when you´re retaining fluids. Glad to hear you´re having fun!

Thought I better pop in and say hello .
I realised that I have been truly exhausted and this vacation instead of turning into an active one mainly as it's too warm and our dog cannot handle heat has become one of gentle morning walks , scenic drives , evening beach walks . Reading relaxing and sitting out chatting . I'm trying to not obsess about the fact that I'm not doing big long hikes and to take it as it is and remember for the next how many months I'll be working and exercising .
Food wise so far we doing pretty good. Fruit and yoghurt for breakfast , sandwich for lunch and then dinner . No snacking in between and no alcohol.

Sounds great you are getting to relax and having nice leisurely walks!! For me, if I am stressed, I retain weight, so I bet this does you good for losing in the long run, too! Happy trails!!

Well still relaxing lots and I am on my second book . Had a lovely long walk yesterday and will tonight . Food continues to be ok but I am eating way too much bread and I will pay the price. However mentally I'm so much better and I really dread going home. Would love to stay another while .

Seriously would consider in another few years buying a small cottage by the sea for weekends. Will keep an eye on the for sale lists .

Decided to stop eating so much bread today . Does not do me good !
Bread really does me in - I gain so much weight around my hips if I eat it. Had to cut back to just a few croutons in salad, which are deeply satisfying, as I really like bread as a comfort food!

Marsia I like croutons too .

Well I'm home and back at work . I feel rested after my holiday . Went shopping yesterday and my fridge is full of fruit veggies and salad. Some nice cheddar cheese and ham too .

My husband asked me to pick him up a nice yoghurt as although he eats my Greek ones he does not like so much. But hand on heart I couldn't find him any that were not laden with sugar . I did get him a 4 pack but warned him that there is 10g of sugar per pot . Scary stuff.

Time for me to get back to proper exercise now . So I came here to read all your updates and get motivated. Health is so important . I seem to be surrounded by people who are unwell right now and it is making me grasp the moment somewhat .

You could try giving him your Greek yogurt mixed with a bunch of sweet fruit. Or add 5 g of sugar to it as a middle thing.

Or add stevia or raw honey maybe to the Greek yogurt? Also if you dice dates, that's really good and has some health benefits with the sugar, like with the raw honey.

Glad you're feeling rested after your holiday, Petal. Try mixing up some Greek-style yoghurt with his sweetened stuff. A little at first & then adding a little more. He might learn to like it, you just never know.

Thanks all yes he will eat it and will have it with fruit. He's diabetic so need to watch the sweet stuff.

Did my workout last night , clocked 40 mins exercise . My watch tracks exercise only when my heart rate elevates so had to be a brisk walk for example. Last night I did an aerobic with some hit . I have been known to go on a 2 hour hike and clock about 10 mins exercise even though I know it's all great to be moving .

I don't real understand the move goal. Yesterday it said I used 2020 calories 521 through activities like walking or say my housework etc . Must keep a better eye on that and I suppose that's where a food log would be handy to make sure I burn more than I eat .

Mm food for thought excuse the pun

I think that means your basic metabolic rate (the energy you´d need if you just lay in bed all day, keeping your organs going) is 1499 and the rest is being up and about. But maybe it´s in your watch´s description somewhere?
