Petals diary

Oh, chest infection, so sorry to hear that. I hope you are taking lots and lots of fresh vitamin C. You may already know this, but if you are worried about gaining weight having juice, I juice half a lemon and put it in an almost hot cup of water and sprinkle about 3 shakes of salt into the mug. Without the salt it tastes horrid, but with it it's not bad. Or just lemon in ice water is good, too. It really helps me for colds and flu, and the fresh lemon juice is an appetite suppressant. Same with fresh pineapple, which is extremely high in vitamin C. Hope all goes well at the doctors!

I don't like being photographed, even when I was young and skinny I didn't. I now picture the person I love most (my daughter) behind the camera when I have my picture taken, and that seems to help some. I tend to smile too wide, and it looks strained, plus I am not fond of being reminded of how much weight I need to lose, either. My friend talked to me about how being older is actually beautiful in a new way. We get age lines to show how much we've learned and how far we've come. She sees all the changes as badges of becoming experienced and more wise. I try to look at it that way when I look in the mirror, and am actually starting to accept all this old age stuff! I still hate dying my hair, but the rest I am getting used to. :)

Thanks for advice on the lemons I have some so will surely try it .
No miracle over night so it's time to call the doctor. Hopefully I will get an appointment but if they busy I might not. It's bad when I decide to go to the doctor and have to fork out €60 minimum .

Day was nice though yesterday . Enjoyed my walk and my friends kept pace but we managed to clock 44 mins exercise minutes and I managed 11k steps overall for the day . Food went well until we got to the BBQ . The BBQ itself was fine and I chose well but 2 glasses of wine and some cake were bad choices .
Never mind line drawn and back to business today

60€ to see a doctor? Holy guacamole! That is crazy! I forget just how lucky we are here.

Well it’s all hay fever related but I got a cough mixture to help at night and a throat spray . Actually feel somewhat better today .
I am making some chicken sauce with tomatoes and chilli garlic onion and red wine but as my daughter having it with pasta I’m not sure if I will have it . Perhaps with some wholewheat spaghetti . Husband won’t eat so I can have what he has either from the bbq with salad . Choices galore .

Will try a short walk tonight . Although perhaps will do my indoor walk to avoid the pollens

I hope lemon helps a lot. Allergies are so draining. Hope you are over them quickly!!

Have you tried substituting green beans or summer squash for pasta? I really like tomato sauce on them, and I cut out so many calories doing that, I can add in some grated Parmesan on the top.

Pollen suck. Glad you´re feeling a bit better. I like the sound of your dinner!
LaMa the dinner was pretty tasty .

That's a great idea . I did have some wholewheat spaghetti but only a small portion . I think it needed a little more chilli too

Hayfever can be awful. I'm glad you're feeling a little better Petal.
Thsnks Cate I think I am feeling bit better .

Went for my walk last night . I didn't push myself too much but managed to clock 35 mins exercise and again went over my 10k steps. If I can keep that up for July I will be happy .
I forgot to take my antihistamine last night and remembered when I was in bed . I was craving something cold and juicy so I got a cocunum and lime ice lolly from the freezer . They are about 70 cals . I never eat in bed nor thst late at night but it was so refreshing lol .

If you´re changing from (wholewheat) spaghetti to a veggie version make sure you up your protein intake. Pasta delivers more than just calories :)

LaMa tbh I seldom eat it maybe once a week and try have wholewheat as opposed to white .

I’m afraid I get hungry if I don’t eat some carbs in my day. Im aware though I eat too many of them . But I’m doing way better than before.

Someone just sent me box of chocolates. I think I will take them to work with me .

Not much to update on today . Slept a bit better . Cough still at me a bit . But coping . Made a nice dinner last night of chicken teriyaki. Did lots of housework and pottered in the garden .

Don’t feel like I lost weight this week though . Did have some alcohol at weekend which I seldom do and also dessert 2 days which I don’t do eother anymore but we had an occasion. I will weigh on Saturday to give myself a chance

Starting to feel much better now . We are going out n a short vacation this coming week so I hope to take a leaf out of Marsia book and hike lots and eat well. That is the plan .

Sorry diary I'm late updating . With packing and going away it's hard to fit all in . Gone to a small beach house for a week . Lots of walks and hopefully nice food . Finding it hard to shake throats and cough but generally feel ok ish .
I have my books and I'm happy out . We are catering for ourselves so hopefully food choices be good and so far they are .

Hi Petal, I hope you don't stress too much about the times you stay the same weight - not gaining weight is a good accomplishment, too. (I have to remind myself that so I don't stress myself out and eat junk.) Plus you haven't been feeling well, so I hope you are kind to yourself!!!

Sending you lots of comforting soup and vitamin C, and hope you have a fantastic vacation at your beach house!! Sounds wonderful!

Don´t forget to relax and enjoy yourself. If only because that´s the only thing we know can reduce abdominal fat specifically :p
LaMa. I'm cracking up at this :jump:
Yes having a great time . Lots of beach walking and paddling thus far. Reading my book . I am cooking But that's ok . Eating really well and just enjoying all.

I think I retain water in this heat . I was reading bananas are good for that so I had one after lunch ( small wholemeal roll with ham and salad) sliced up with Greek yoghurt.
Dinner tonight is teriyaki chicken and broccoli
