Oh, wow, TM! Riding such a long way in the heat. I hope you are ok.

absolutely fine ;)

it was very hot on the bike but I got back. My pride took a pounding though ... on the way back I was riding into the sun and even with my sunnies on I couldn’t see anything. Ran straight into a pole in the middle of the path :rotflmao:

Oh, no! :svengo: I must admit I did just laugh :D

don’t worry I laughed ... a lot. Can’t take your life too seriously can you?

going to the beach with my partner tonight ... she doesn’t know I have a bruise from the pole that looks exactly like a hickey on my chest. That’ll be an interesting conversation :argue::rotflmao:

Caught up with my best mate from primary school today. We haven’t seen each other for 15 years but it was good to catch up and reminisce. Hopefully it’s not another 15 years before we have a beer again!

Last ride for 2019 tonight. Started as just a slow cruisy ride but as I hit the home stretch I got a tail wind. Out came the competitor in me and I knocked off a few strava PR’s including a Philip Highway segment that I thought I’d never beat ... knocked 15 seconds off my previous PR and averaged 38.4km/h with a top of 46.3 (it is of course a flat segment with no climbing) 838AA9D9-E95C-4120-BFC3-C8790586C20A.png

No don't let it be. I had a best friend from my last couple of years of high school that I tried halfheartedly looking up for a long time. When I moved back to Utah I put in a greater effort only to find his obituary. I waited a couple of years too long...

Good to see you riding again. I had planned to give it a try this morning, but we got an unexpected snowfall overnight. Don't think I can ride with any regularity until spring.

Well done, Pete!
I'll wish you a Happy New Year early. I hope you have lots of wonderful bike rides, with no crashes, no idiotic drivers abusing you & the wind following you most of the way. Happy New Year!

Went for a short ride today to test ride a bike after servicing it. I met a bloke who just had his bike stolen last week and as he doesn’t drive and has autism so he can’t catch busses easily his bike was his only transport.

later on I found an add for a bike in decent condition for $80 (needed a good clean and a service) complete with pannier racks so I bought it thinking I’d gift it to him. Went and collected it, cleaned it, serviced it and tested it. All good, works a treat except now I can’t contact the bloke. I’ll give him a couple of days and then I’m keeping the bike myself as a commuter to the shops. Much easier to bring back shopping on a hybrid bike with panniers than on my road bike.

Technically it’s a women’s specific bike but that’s ok. I’m man enough; My Good road bike is a women’s bike. Hope this other bloke is.

Oh also I’m working in my CBD office all week this week so I’m planning on driving most of the way and riding into the cbd. I would ride the whole way but just going around the block today did not do wonders for my sore calf

What a nice thing to do for a stranger, hope you can find him.

Can't see why that would be in issue, if it fits and works that should be all that matters. What is the difference between a man's bike and a woman's?

not much really. Not sure if I said but my road bike is a woman’s size.

essentially people think of the sloped top tube as a women’s bike but that’s just a “step through”. The difference is really the top tube is longer and seat tube is shorter in a men’s bike because men typically have shorter legs and longer torsos. Not sure how that works though because I have very short legs and a very long torso but I fit a women’s bike perfectly.

personally I think it’s all marketing. Women’s bikes tend to have “girly” colours.

Rode into work this morning but although I recorded the ride on my Garmin Strava doesn’t want to accept it so it’s not showing.
Oh well.

it was good to get on the bike so early. Started the day well. Even better to not shell out $25 for parking!
