Oh, no! (I love that you are such a perfectionist! :) )

generally in life I’m really not but with things like this if it’s worth doing it’s worth doing right.

Hey guys,

sorry can’t help with either a bike or ride update.
Unfortunately the weather wasn’t good for painting so bike was on hold for a week or two and then someone resigned at work with no redundancy plan so I’m assisting there until the newbie can take it all on. Bottom line I’m swamped. My last ride was 2 weeks ago.

that’s the trouble with working in projects. We’re at the pointy end of a couple so I’m head down bum up drowning in data right now.

Well ... today I was forced to go for a ride.

I had to service my car and when I removed the drain plug on the rear diff I found some gorilla had WAY over tightened it and had crushed the washer soooo I rode to the shop and bought some more washers. Not far; 8kms all up but geeze it was hot.
If you’re interested he weather here is still no good for painting. I need a week of mild weather or at least low winds and under 35 to do any more paint work on the bike. I did manage to pick up new STI shifters for it REAL cheap so they’ll go on after it’s finished. I should be able to start riding again this week but we’re in for a heatwave ...

til next time ...

Opposite problem here, I have been off the bike due to snow. I found I can dress for the cold, but the snow and ice don't feel safe. The bike shop does sell winter spiked tires for the bike, but they are pricey and I am not sure they would completely solve the problem. And metal spikes in a bike tire some how just doesn't seem right.

We need to find a way to average our weathers out!

I love Adelaide, TM, but am very glad I live in Tassie. I'm still in long-sleeved clothes & quite happy about it. Does it get cool overnight?

yeah I wouldn’t be riding in the snow. I get stroppy with a light sprinkle of rain!

that sucks that you’re off the bike though. How have you been passing the time? (I’ll catch up on your diary soon I hope).

this week I think it’s getting down to about 20-25 overnight. I love the hot weather but I get very tired and cranky on hot nights. My dog (Truffle) snuggles right up to me at night too which either makes the temperature worse or pushes me off the bed.

we’ve got a week of hot weather now. Friday is to be 47 Celsius in my neck of the woods. Tomorrow I’m driving to Port Augusta which is 4 hours away in the (practically) desert. Luckily I got my air conditioning regassed today.

I decided since I’ve been off the bike for so long that I would take every opportunity to get back on no matter how short. Today I had my car booked in for an air conditioner service so I drove there and rode to work then rode back and picked the car up. It was only 1km from the office but it at least got me moving again.

That's real heat!

Is it dry? Dry enough to use evaporator coolers, swamp coolers? They used to be quite common here, but not so much anymore. When I went to buy one for my office I ended up with an Australian import, so I am guess they are used in parts anyway. I like the cool humid air they produce, but of course they don't work in places like Florida, too humid.

20 to 25 overnight helps, stay cool!

yeah it’s very dry here. I absolutely hate humidity.

snapped this photo of the local thermometer in port Augusta yesterday ...45469CF7-A09B-423B-B6AB-9DA2F7C6200C.jpeg

That is an insane heat! I am so grateful that we are avoiding the extreme heat here, but feel for the rest of the country :(
