Hoarders are antisocial scum.

absolutely. It just makes no sense. The problem now is because people started doing it the average punter at the shops doesn’t know when they’ll be able to buy what they need so when they come across it they buy it regardless of whether they need it or not. It’s a vicious cycle. These restrictions are a blessing and a curse though. My Father goes to the shops every week and buys non perishable food items and donates them to the Salvation Army. He can’t do that now if he also needs to buy for himself. It’s a practice I’ve been meaning to adopt for a while now ... in fact decision made. From tomorrow onwards I will start doing it myself. Good chat.

Your bike looks excellent, TM!
Your father sounds like a lovely man. I hope when the world recovers from this current crisis that humans learn a lesson & change for the better. They could learn a lot from your dad.

Thanks for sorting me out about the Sudafed.

Your bike looks good - a very determined, tough-looking bike! A 300m ride? I am astonished you can manage such a short distance! :D
Is there something different about the spokes? The number of them, or the placement?

I am, like you, disgusted at the hoarding and combative, non-community-minded attitude of our fellow-citizens. What kind of a society have we (collective, not just you and me!) made? And how can it be remade into something better?

I like that, in fact I may see if I can do something similar. We don't have a Salvation Army nearby, but I am sure there is someone who might need it. My wife has been buying up all the toilet paper she can find and donating it to her church. They then distribute to folks who need it and are not able to get out and find it. Not everyone you see buying toilet paper is a hoarder.

No but buying it up for the church still means the next person can't buy it. And they may not have a church affiliation.
Some truth in that, but most of the Churches here are careful to distribute to anyone in need, not just their own members. My wife belongs to the Presbyterian Church and I know that is their policy and practice. The county I live in is about 90% Mormon and I know the Mormon church helps non-members. This mess is bringing out the best in some people anyway. Not everyone is able to be in that line at the store.

hey there sorry I’ve been away from the forum for a bit. The spokes are flat so they look slightly different. There are 20 spikes on the front and 24 on the rear so that might be what you’re seeing.

I’m hoping society can reset and learn from this experience but I’m not holding my breath.

that’s fantastic Rob. Absolutely did not mean to say that everyone buying it is hoarding; sorry if I gave you that impression. Truth is it’s so hard to get now that most people buying it CANT hoard it.

that’s great that your wife is doing that. Bar far the majority of people are good honest kind people. I’m hoping this shines through more now and puts pressure on the others.

Thanks in part to your suggestion we spent a part of the morning shopping and then delivering things to people who cannot get out, older or infirm folks. We get a list of what people need and addresses, just put the groceries on the front porch and call to them them, no actual contact.

I do think this will cause something of a reset, hopefully for the best.

Take care down there!

I feel very smug and pleased with myself that I picked up the difference! :D

I don't know if enough people have seen how despicable some behaviours are to remake society completely - I mean, hoarding toilet paper is one thing, but that's nothing compared to the cold, callous destruction rained down without thinking twice by many of the wealthy and the powerful.

Hey TM, how are you doing? Did you get over that cold or flu you had a little while back?
Hey Rob,

sorry yes I got over it no problems. I e just been flat out with work and taking a break from media and (especially) social media to avoid all the angst and anxiety around the virus.

everything in my world is going well; still fit and healthy, still cycling to work, still happy with life and all my family is well.

hope everything is going well with you and everyone else here.

Fantastic! Good to hear your happy no-news. :)
There's lots of people biking these days, it seems to me - or at least I thought I was seeing lots as I came through Adelaide - including a recumbent bicycler.

Hey TM, how are you?

Check in with us from time to time, we'd like hearing from you.
