Marsia's Diary

:) He gets too hyper for me at times (he has a health condition that makes him produce too much adrenalin) but I really like some of his food combinations.
I notice he is a little over the top, but I agree, really nice food combos. I need to write them down, because I would never think of things like cinnamon in coconut soup!

I love cinnamon and coconut

Weighed in at 200.6 this morning, so lost 18.4 pounds thus far. I am out of the obese category now (which for me was 203 pounds and over.) That feels quite good. Yay, I'm only overweight!

Congratulations! It probably sounds silly for people who´ve only ever been skinny but it´s a major milestone.

Thanks LaMa! It's kinda discouraging being obese, but being overweight feels more doable to lose the weight, so, I really agree, it makes a big difference psychologically!!

Well, today I made a chocolate cake for my husband's birthday and didn't eat more than a tiny nibble of the ingredients, and didn't even like how that made me feel. Also we went to the movies last night and normally the popcorn machine makes me so hungry smelling all the fresh popped popcorn (one of my major weaknesses,) but all I smelled this time was that there was too much grease, and it didn't appeal to me at all. I had double the steamed zucchini with a little tahini before I left for the theater, and that helped immensely. I didn't feel like having popcorn at all and felt so satiated the whole movie.

Also the other day when I made the stuffed mushrooms with lots of cream cheese in them, they were not very satisfying, and I have been paying for eating them ever since. My skin has been so broken out and unhappy for the last week and a half. So I think I have detoxed from most dairy, sugar, and bad fat, and am used to good whole foods now! Not feeling tempted by junk is so wonderful!

LaMa
Congratulations that's fantastic news . You will break through the 200 now soon . Think we very similar weights . I am 193 I think . Well could be more as not weighed in a while . AnywY I will on sat for the challenge .
What movie did you see ?

Thanks LaMa and Petal!

We went to the movies with my 11 year old, so saw Ant Man and The Wasp. It was really funny!

Marsia I not sure where I got the 193 from I am pretty sure I am 203 lol !
So I hope I break through the 200 at some point

Petal, we are twins - I'm 200.4 right now. How do you like doing a calorie counter so far? I am curious if it helps you as much as it helps me.

Well I am only on day 2 but my word the motivation is great. And now I have added you and cate well it will spur me on too .
It’s scaring me a bit that I have really been eating too much.
I have done a lot of plans I the past where I can eat “free foods” - pfffffftttt nothing is free !

I like MFP so far it gives me a nudge about sugar lol

I picture sugar as the unfermented version of alcohol - something that is just too addictive for me to want to mess with. I have a good friend who messed up his marriage from being addicted to alcohol, and I picture sugar as that potent and dangerous because diabetes and high blood pressure run in my family. It helps a lot to have an image of sugar as basically an addictive drug for when I get cravings for sweets. I'm sure some people can have sugar and not get addicted, but I am not one of those people. I think it actually changes my taste buds so fruit and veggies don't taste as flavorful when I am on sugar. I read that eating protein helps curb sugar cravings, and it really seems to work for me.

One of the ways I have changed the most from the calorie counter is that I now fill up on fruit and vegetables and add in the other things I need like meat and a little grain, whereas before it was the other way around - mostly grains and meat and veggies to supplement. It's only been about 2 months, but I feel soooo much better already!

The only "free" things I consume are water, tea, and bubbly water. The almost free things are fruits and veggies. Berries really make me happy, so I have been eating a lot of them. :)

Marsia I hope I am as knowledgeable as you in short while . Sugar really is poisonous isn’t it . I know any day that I do give into a craving and consume a bag of belly sweets I feel so horrible after it .

Thanks Petal! I used to know a lot more about nutrition, but I am not good at holding that type of info in my brain, so look stuff up a lot online. I watched a ton of videos on youtube about what is wrong with the western diet so I can recall these when I feel like reaching for junk food. I save lists of the super foods, healthy foods that cut down on cravings, and things like that, too. Pinterest is really good for lists like that, but not that good for recipes, but there are so many great bloggers on whole foods now. I think Cate and LaMa know a lot more than I do, but I work at it!
