Weight-Loss March Challenge!

Weight-Loss
Congrats to those of you who are still in this and trying hard, whether you lost or not. I don't know who I respect more, people who keep losing week after week or people who bounce back after a bad week or two. Either way, you just have to keep fighting.

As for me, despite not excercising on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week I am still losing weight. I really tried hard to eat well those days and I did get some walking in. Plus I worked out twice on Monday and extra long this morning. I think I am just really dialed in to myself right now. I have learned so much about what my body responds to both nutrition and excercise. That and I really do think I broke through a plateau.

I know this doesn't count because this is not when I weigh myself but just out of curiosity I stepped on the gym scale after swimming this morning and the scale said 192.6. Sure I was dehydrated but it sure was nice to see that number. That ties the lowest I have been since I was 19 and I am 31 right now. Now for the real weight, this morning before working out and eating breakfast the scale said 195.5. I am really hoping for 195.0 on Sunday morning. That will be another 2 lbs this week. I just might be able to hit 189 by April 3rd afterall. We will see.

Derrick - That is awesome!!

Seems like you're going to have no issues reaching 195!! :)

Bah - I'm stuck on 128...!! LOL the scale is JUST not moving...!
First time this year I'm taking 3 consecutive days off from the gym.. ! (Wed, Thurs, Fri) - I think I over worked out this last week... !
I'm SO excited to start playing Tennis from mid-April! We have courts in our office campus..! That should be a good workout too..!

I hope everyone is working hard towards their goal!! ALL the best!

:hurray:

Don't worry you probably do need a break. Take a few days off, eat some yummy food and be a little lazy. Enjoy the nice weather if you are getting nice weather. When next week comes around you can get back into it.

OK, I admit it, I thought about waiting one more day and posting tomorrow's weight but I have to practice what I preach and I was just preaching about posting our weight even if we gained weight.

I know why I weighed a little high this morning. I was actually 195.5 yesterday morning and most of the week for that matter! I had an incredible workout yesterday morning and even ate really good yesterday. Only problem is I drank a TON of water and then I had 3 Bud Selects from 8:45pm to 11:30pm. So when I weighed myself this morning I am pretty sure I still had a lot of that still in me. I have no doubt by tomorrow morning or Tueday morning I will be back down to around 195.5. I guess, just like last month, I will have a really good week right after a bad week (numerically speaking). From here on out no more alcohol the night before weigh in. :blush5: Also, as JellyBelly always says, I'll be sure to drink my water, just not so much the day before weigh in. :blush5:

Start Weight: 129

March 8 = (127.7) 128.0
March 15 = (126.7) 128.0
March 22 = (126.7)
March 29 = (_____)
Total to lose 6.0lbs = 1% of each week starting weight.

Total March Loss: 1.0

Percentage lost: (I don't know how to calculate this)

I'm the same but doesn't matter I guess...! :) No frowny faces this time! ;)

I have to say this though Derrick and jelly belly 88 - you both are really encouraging! Thanks a lot for that! :)
All the best for next week! :hurray:

Why not?

Just weigh in the next day, it doesn't really matter, you don't have to answer to anyone but yourself.

You shouldn't have to live your life according to the weigh in day, infact that sounds rather unhealthy-especially when there's no $ 250,000 grand prize :sifone:. Take it easy, don't sweat it.

Derrick, you’re getting caught up on the whole weigh-day, just like me! But both you and I have preached about still posting even though you’ve gained and not lost.

I always work out on Saturday mornings which is my weigh-in day, and I weigh myself right when I wake up. And if I’m not satisfied with what I see, go to the gym, work out as I normally do and then come home and weigh myself again. But then there’s this little smartypants fella sitting on my shoulder giving me thoughts like “if you don’t eat anything before working out….. if you don’t drink that much water..” you know? NOT GOOD. We all need to think about what’s good for us in the long term!!

The fact of the matter is, if you drink a lot of water at one weigh in, YOU know that it’s water, and if you continue on doing what you usually do, the scale will show better results the next week. Even though we ALL want to lose weight, it’s not about the short-term solution. You drinking less water in fear of not seeing a loss on the scale in the morning is not gonna aid your weight loss.

I really liked todays weight so I'm gonna keep it!
Start Weight: 250.1 lbs

March 11 = 248.8
March 16 = 245.2
March 25 =
March 31 =

Total March Loss: 4.9
Percentage lost: ___________________

To find your percentage
Take your starting weight - ending weight = Pounds lost
Then divide pounds lost/ starting weight and get the percentage lost

Good job Zooy!

I agree with what you are saying girls. Maybe I chose my words poorly. I didn't mean to imply that I would be dehydrated on weigh in day. I just meant I wouldn't drink so much water AND beer the day and night before. If anything I kind of over did the water if there is such a thing and if there isn't, then drinking the 3 beers certainly didn't help.

No worries, I almost always have a day or two each week where I weigh a little on the high side. In general I just keep track of my new low. As long as I keep dropping about 1 to 1.5 lbs per week on AVERAGE I am happy. Ya'll are gonna get whooped this week though. :reddevil:

Can I join this challenge even though its already started?

Current Weight: 170lbs, goal is 168lbs

March 16 = 170
March 25 =
March 31 =

I just read that we are trying to lose 1% per week - which is a great goal...

So I'll repost again.

Current Weight: 170 lbs

March 16 = 170
March 25 =
March 31 =

So this week's goal for me is to lose 1.7lbs, that will be 1% of my starting weight. Goal for March 25th = 168.3lbs
I also wanted to log my exercise hours per week...just a little idea I had to keep myself on track and accountable.

Exercise Plan/Goal for this week:
3/16 - I am planning on doing atleast 30 minutes of cardio after work today!
3/17 - 1 hour workout with my trainer after work
3/18 - atleast 30 minutes cardio
3/19 - 1 hour workout with my trainer after work
3/20 - day off from gym
3/21 - 30 minute walk or run (I will be out of town this weekend)
3/20 - day off from gym/exercise

No loss so far - even for a few days showed a gain :( - but now I'm still coasting steady. Still two more weigh-ins, so, we'll see!

It's great to see most everyone sticking with the challenge!

We're in the same boat Derrick. I spent the day building an outdoor open pit BBQ on Sunday and like the typical guy that I am, you gotta have some beer when your building something. Well it costed me the same as you.

Better luck next week, eh.
