Thursday Aug 10th

Kari Anderson's Angles Lines and Curves tape #2; it's an hour but I fast forwarded it down to 40 minutes.

Took it kinda easy b/c of the pain under my right rib...but today is the first day - so far - that it hasn't bothered me!

Bike later.

Friday the 11th

Did Cory Everson's 30 minutes Get Hard Arms and Shoulder workout with 16 lb weights, and didn't winp out on the forearm section!

I think my under ribs are back to normal, finally......

Walking tomorrow..........oh, and Sunday I'm visiting family for awhile, so you prob. won't hear from me until a week from Sunday....

Sunday Aug 20th

It was a great couple of days with my sister in Baltimore and a fun couple of days with my mom outside of DC. Thansk for asking.

Yes, my ribs or whatever it was that was bothering me, seems to be fine now.

I was able to keep pretty much to my healtful eating schedule; if I ate cake or some such, I ate less that day.

I even had a four mile hustle with my brother in law one night!

Today, WE had guests so I could only do a 30 minute Tone it Up with Kari Anderson this morning, with 10 lb weights. I'm back, but taking it slowly.............

Tues the 22nd

Cindy Crawford's Shape your Body workout #1 with Radu, 45 minutes of full body work with 10-16 lb weights. some walking later.

wED THE 23RD

Gosh, my arms kill from Cindy yesterday!

also I craved BAD foods all day yesterday but sinc ei didn't have any, i didn't eat any!

Karen Voight's 45 minute Yoga Focus today. Major walking coming up!

Sunday the 26th

Kathy Smith's one hour long whole body workout, Lift Weights to Lose Weight #2, and my under-ribs immediately started hurting again!

And lot of walking with DDD.

Tuesday, Aug. 29th

I saw the doctor. He didn't dare say I was fat and old. But I think he might be inferring that, although truth be told, I weighed in at 113 and I'm 41...almost 42.

When we moved, I was down to about 107. I took time off from exercise, but when I went back I used less weights - however I did about the same stomach/pilates/yoga as before.

He thinks my muscles can't take it anymore. And wants me to cosncentrate more on cardio. He always felt the focus should be on cardio!

Anyway..........

Now I walk to a different subway station in the mornings. That's 15 minutes. Sometimes I have to walk a bit to get to my office. Thats's also something.

BUT ........and it's a big BUT.

He doesn't want me to do so much toning/muscles work/pilates and yoga anymore. Obviously, my abs can't take it.

So............I guess i'll just get fatter and older, right?

I'm feeling a little down, I suppose...........

Medical doctors tend to be anti-strength training, even though every study ever done showed significant benefit from strength training at any age. Go figure!

Not that I would typically recommend not listening to your doctor, but in this case I would ignore that advice! My doctor told me not to lift heavy weights after I had knee surgery and after I injured my back. I followed his advice for 10 years and I didn't get any better, so I went back to lifting heavy and the stronger I got the less pain I had!

Well, I saw that a week off didn't help. I'll definitely need to take more than that off.

BUT I do intend to exercise each morning like usual, I just have to think of which videos I want to do, when I'm strong enough. Cardio I'll anyway do.

Thanks, all.

That is rubbish! Donot believe that for a second and promise me that this was the last time you saw this doctor!

If someone tells you at 42, you are useless and too old to do excercises, that is stupid.

I will be 30 this month and I have never felt this good - that too after less than one year @ gym.

Also, few weeks ago, I met a guy around 95 years old at a yoga camp. Looking at him, you could easily see that he had no major problems with his muscles or movement. He said he had been doing yoga regularly for the last 14 years and he credited yoga for his health.

Ask people around, how many people have been given wrong advice by a physio or a doctor.

Go see someone else. You have a long way to go before you can use this word for yourself - old.

That may be...but first the pain has to stop! It hurts to cough, even!
