Lift, Train, Fitness

Hiking today, was slow and not really feel good about it, was later in the day than usual.

Hiking in the heat isn´t the most fun OR the most efficient but you´ve got so much to do I´m impressed you made it out at all.

Feeling tired as the chicken drama continues.

we had the surviving silky rooster in a hutch on the veranda in little misses play area while the new pen is built. Last night I woke up at 4am because of a scrabbling noise outside, we found a snake in the hutch with the terrified chook. The baby carpet python was small enough to fit through the bars. The now neurotic rooster is in a cardboard box inside till we attach snake proof wire to the outside of the hutch this afternoon. Hopefully we will get the pen done on the weekend.

We suspect the big carpet python that lives in the roof is probably the mother of the want to be chicken hunter.

Poor liitle rooster: losing his ladies and right afterward getting such a shock! Was the snake big enough to have killed him if you hadn't come out to help?

I think given time it would have got a hold and been able to constrict but I am not sure if it was big enough to swallow a chook

Oooch, glad there's no permanant damage.

You are a proper grown up Tru. You are in fact, the Archetype of a real grown up. You have your shit together.

Just doing a quick check of the forum while the evening meal is cooking, I have made a batch of chili, it is slightly on the high side for carbs but not too bad, mince (ground beef), beans, tomato, capsicum, celery, onion, chili, smoked paprika, cumin etc. Lots of fibre to offset the carbs. Just waiting for the rice to cook for the rest of the family.

It tasted good, very filling. Little miss enjoyed her portion, first time she has had chili. I kept the heat down for her and D, If it had been just myself and son 3 eating it then I would have made it a little hotter.

Chicken Fort Knox frame is now built, just needs wire and the gate attached and it will be all done, it will have a wire floor so predators cannot dig under and turf placed on the wire so the fowl can still scratch properly.

Little miss is watching Bluey in her room, D is playing computer games and I think I will have an early night.

I´m always happy when I see/hear of little kids enjoying real food. Such a great start in life. Enjoy your peaceful night :)

This morning was spent at the beach with little miss before it started to get too hot, I a was worn out by the time we got home, lots of running around on the sand. I am not a fan of the beach but little miss loves it and I need to make the effort to spend more time on the beach with her. I will also need to look into having her join nippers when she gets older. Surf Life Saving Queensland – Find Your Pathway | Nipper

my running is more like lumbering on the hard packed sand yelling for little miss to stop and wait lol

The nippers lifesaving thing is awesome. I bet little miss will love that. It's quite incredible that they have it for kids from just 5 year old.

It sucks just a bit that your husband has built an entire new chicken coop to make it safer, only to have a python get in. Animals in Australia must be living off pure adrenaline!

The nippers always look like they have so much fun. Little Miss would spend some of that wonderful energy she seems to have in abundance!

Was feeling a bit off today, had to drive into town to pick up a parcel, when I got home I had to drag a large branch off the driveway, so tomorrows task is to get my chainsaw out to deal with it properly rather than leaving it next to the driveway.

Arthritis in my hip is playing up, took some pain relief earlier which is now starting to take effect so it is time for bed.

I hope a good night's sleep will ease the pain. And I'm sure I don't have to tell you but mind your shoulders while sawing.
