For those who think home cooking has to be expensive, this chilli works out to be around $1.25 per serve if I had to purchase some of the veg rather than picking it from the garden. for $15 I have 12 servings, 1 serve is a full meal for me, for hubby 1 serve would be a full meal if he has it with rice.

I figure it as 12 serves because it is double the amount I normally cook which serves 3 adults, a toddler and 3 lots of seconds if hubby and son 3 are extra hungry.

:) Sounds like around 20 servings for me!

After discussing snake photography with a friend, she is going to see about putting me in contact with another of her friends who has 120 snakes in town that may let me take pics of her pets.

That'd be really cool! I imagine anyone excited enough about snakes to keep that many would be happy to let someone take professional pictures of them.

Hiking took longer today as I had my good camera with me in the hope of doing some koala spotting, not much luck however there was some fresh scat on the trail. I have a couple of pics to post in the "what I saw on my walk" thread but will wait till I have an ID on one pic before posting. My knee was sore at the end, same distance but more time putting it under stress when I left the trail a few times to try to get pics of things and had to forego my hiking poles in places. if was 36c in the carpark when I got back to the car at 9:30 am

With the Covid chatter on the rest of the forum this is the Queensland stats for the pandemic so far updated daily.

Queensland COVID-19 statistics

but looking through for my local government area there have been a total of 5 infections since the pandemic started, 3 returned travelers and 2 family members and these were at the very beginning of it all last year and they were located on the far side of the region (a large rural area). Life proceeds as normal here with minimal Covid restrictions. As an example son 3s workplace has its monthly karaoke howl at the moon night tonight, the only changes from normal are the visitor check ins and the meals have to be regular meals rather than the pig on a spit buffet.

Tomorrow I will be taking little miss to her first birthday party for a friend.

On a lighter note I could not keep a straight face when son 3 came home from work a little while ago and the first thing he says to me is "Mum can you work on my arse" a combination of his Autism need to state things exactly as they are and his need for me as a massage therapist to work on his sore glutes lol.

That is SO funny!

:rotflmao: Directness ftw!

For me it's nice to hear about parts of the world that function pretty much as normal. Makes me feel like it's still possible.

Feeling rundown after taking little miss to the birthday party, it is a brave woman that hosts a dozen 3 year olds all hyped up on sugar, although there was a lot of healthy offerings including fruit and fresh berries. Drink was raspberry and looked home made with fresh fruit floating in the drink dispenser.

two kids made a bolt down across a paddock chasing a ball but never stopped at the bottom and were determined to climb the next hill after crossing a dam bridge, I am glad I am not the mother who needed to chase that pair. Little miss was well behaved and had lots of fun.

However she is still hyper from the birthday cake and take home lollypop, I am waiting for the sugar crash, a cranky little girl and finally having her go to sleep (her going to sleep could be wishful thinking lol)

Have also been keeping an eye on a local news thread, a nutter has stolen 2 cars and wrecked them and has been shooting off a sawn off shotgun in town, then heading out of town along my road. The dog squad and a police chopper are pursuing into the national park.

Contrary to what many Americans may think, we do still have guns here, it is simply harder for nutters to get them but it still happens at times.

That´s scary. We had a hunter (and secret poacher) go off and shoot people two years back - the police ended up knocking down the facade of his house with a tank to get at him. Seemed to have been a planned-out thing, too. I don´t know whatp people think when they come up with these idiotic things; it´s not like I can even remember his name right now.

The party sounds like it was successful though! According to research kids seem to get hyped up on treats, games, and companionship rather than sugar, but that doesn´t really make a difference when they´re bouncing around at 200 bpm :)

Whatever the actual cause, it takes time for them to come down, and when they do is is often a rather unpleasant crash.

I would rather the names of the nutters be forgotten so they don't get the infamy they crave.

not much happening today, very hot, got some turf layed in the new chook yard, needs to get established before we get more silkies for little miss.
Chipped one garden bed, I have 2 plants still to put in and need to put down weed mat and mulch.

I find what is happening in federal politics disturbing at the moment but I am fairly sure who the accused rapist is after a bit of digging online this arvo.

Another day, another case of a powerful person abusing their power and treating a human being like something to be used and discarded...

Spent all afternoon taking photos for this weeks Uni activity, relatively happy with "texture" but "self portrait" was a struggle, finally got one that looks ok but can see ways to improve it if I have to do a self portrait again in the future. I found it hard to get the focus point right using the timer, a smaller aperture and a higher ISO would have helped. Trying to be objective and not simply pick on my own appearance as somebody who hates having my own photo taken. At my age there are enough lines that the directional light at least made my face somewhat interesting and honestly If I had gone for softer multi directional light my face would have looked softer hiding some of the flaws I don't think it would have made the photo as interesting. I did not go for a muscle shot because although I have a lot of strength and muscle size, the layer of fat just makes me look big, which I am ok with but does not make for a good photo.

I will share it here after I am sure my lecturer has seen the online submission, I don't want to get picked up as a possible IP infringement for my own photo lol

While I only carry fat within the healthy range, it does hide the muscle somewhat and my age is beginning to show. I never wear makeup and my skin is a little shiny from sweat after spending a big chunk of tropical Queensland summer in a tin shed with photography lights lol.

My goals have never been to be skinny, performance and function over looks.

I loath having my photo taken making this one of my hardest fears to overcome, so yes it probably does come through in the photo. I also dislike the sound of my own voice on recordings which is also not uncommon for a lot of people.

This evening I watched the first of my lectures for advanced exercise programming and prescription, mostly just overview level stuff but it looks like there will be a big emphasis on programming pre-hab exercises instead of rest periods between exercises. With the lecturer pointing out that the evidence of a good strength and conditioning coach for team sports is little to no non contact injuries to their athletes during a sporting season.
