Jaclyn's diary

oooh boy I'm getting hungry!!

Haha, gotta keep the menu interesting and tasty or I'll drift away. The ankle has been feeling okay Jenn, although it hurts really bad if I have to walk up stairs or even around the grocery store for a long time (which, with this diet I do.) I have an appointment with the doctor for Thursday, but I'm worried he won't be very helpful. My MRI showed a possible benign bone tumor, which isn't terribly threatening (although it could turn malignant if not treated) and it's fairly common, but I don't feel right about the doctor I'm seeing. He's not friendly and he doesn't seem caring, and I'm very particular about doctors that way. So, if he doesn't seem interested in helping me with physical therapy or surgery soon I'm going to find a new doctor. The good news is I've lost about 5 pounds, and today was my 1 month anniversary of starting my new healthy living!

Five pounds that great!! Congratulations, not bad for only 4 weeks!! Keep it up girl. Good luck with the doctor, I agree with you, a doctor should try to establish a trusting rapport with patients. A person should feel comfortable with their doctor, not shunned.

You're doing great! Congratulations! Hang in there with your ankle. I don't blame you about the doc, I'd be the same way. Good luck!:)

Thanks guys! Hopefully my old crappy scale is right.

School today. That's okay, much better than work. I'm liking my classes a lot. My Renassaince Poetry and Prose professor is kinda hot too, so I definitely don't mind that class.

Breakfast:
Cherrios with 1/2 cup milk and a sliced banana
Small glass of orange juice

LOL! You're funny! Well as far as your old crappy scale goes...as long as you are weighing yourself on it each time, it's got to be close to right. Whether it's even 5 lbs off, 121-116...156-151.....205-200...whatever the case may be...5 pound loss is still a 5 lb loss and you're doing better than when you started! :)

Wow I like work better than school. haha! But then again, I don't typically get hot teachers either. LOL! Regardless, keep on truckin' I know I am.

Yeah Coastergirl, I was happy to see the weight loss, even if it's not completely accurate. I used to like work better than school, but I got a really great schedule this semester with cool teachers and everything I'm learning is interesting. No more gen ed classes for me!

Lunch:
Veggie Salami sandwich, which consisted of two slices honey wheat bread (60 calories each) 4 slices of veggie salami (90 cals altogether,) a slice of munster cheese(50 cals?), and two pickle slices (10 cals.)
1 peach (I can't get enough of peaches lately!)
1 fat free pudding
Diet Cherry 7Up

Hey great 5 lbs off..way to go. Yes, get politely pushy with the doctor....its amazing how quicly they come around when you suggest, that you are not completey satisfied with your treatment as you want it dealt with as it is impairing your daily living with so you are going to seek a second professional opinion. Second opinons are usually a good idea anyway. Good luck

Yeah, this ankle needs to get fixed now! That doctor won't know what hit him.

Dinner:
1 Tomato Basil Pizza Burger (no bun or condiments, 130 cals)
Broccoli in lowfat butter sauce (100 cals)
Cucumber and Tomato slices in vinager and olive oil with seasonings (100 cals?)

Dessert:
1 tablespoon Nutella (100 cals)
3 bites of a Healthy Choice ice cream bar (then I decided it wasn't good enough to be worth it and I threw it out. I'll tell my best friend's boyfriend he can have them-20 cals)
1 cup blackberries (70 cals)

I was watching Bill Maher do standup on HBO and he was talking about how Americans overeat. One of his jokes was "we eat big food on big plates. Hell, we even have a holiday where we stuff food into other food!" Normally when I hear stuff like that I get embarassed at being a typical overweight American, but now that I've been making better choices and eating less for a month, it made me laugh. It's true, Americans overeat and it's ridiculous how easy it is to do so here. I would love to visit some of the countries that some of you are from and observe the differences of the way food is served and prepared in restarants.

It looks like you are doing a fantastic job! Keep up the good work =) I can relate to really feeling like you are different and view the world differently now that you are eating differently (that was alot of differents!). I find myself making much better choices and i want to share the good news with everyone and help them understand that we don't have to eat like this! I was also thinking about how BIG the plates are in some restraunts - there is enough for over two meals in one sitting! Next time i'm taking most of it home and i'm going to have leftovers for a week! =)

You are totally right Amomono, once you start eating differently you really do feel like you have to do a public service by telling everyone about the benefits of it. For example, my best friend is really skinny and she eats really unhealthily most of the time. She has a lot of stomach problems and a litany of other ailments all the time. Yesterday she was complaining of being lightheaded around 9 in the evening and so I asked her what she ate all day and she told me and it only equaled to about 850 calories and they weren't all from healthy sources, so I told her she didn't eat enough and she would feel better if she added calories and she said "like a bowl of ice cream?" and I told her I was thinking more along the lines of some fruit and toast. So she asked me why it mattered as long as she added calories (I figure she should aim for 1600 a day, compared to my weight loss goal of 1200 a day.) So I started to explain to her the difference between whole calories and empty calories and simple and complex carbohydrates and how the different things make you body work. I think I kind of bored her, but she said it did make sense and she had a cup of black berries and some graham crackers and she said she did feel a lot better afterwards.

Thanks Korrie, I do my best!

Bowl of Cheerios with 1/2 box raisins and 1/4 cup milk (200)

I love your attitude and how educated you are. It really inspires me. I hope the best for you and everyone else trying so hard to succeed at what most people think is impossible. Keep it up!

Ugh, what a long freakin' day at work. We had a meeting at 8am, which meant I had to wake up at 6:30 am in order to get to work on time with the traffic and all, and then I had to work 8:30 until 5:30. Now I have a buttload of reading to do for my Renassaince class, along with some research for a group project due next week, and I have to start outlining my script for my Scriptwriting class (I still can't decide if I'm going to do an episode of That 70s Show or if I should start working on writing a movie script) AND I have to practice some sign language, which I probably won't do tonight because I'm tired. At least being so busy deters me from eating. Which brings me to dinner...

Dinner:
Veggie Salami Sandwich, which had two slices honey wheat bread (60 cals each) 3 slices Yves Veggie Salami (68 cals-they don't call it the Good Deli for nothing!) and two garlic pickle slices (10 cals)
1/2 sliced cucumber (15 cals?) and a sliced tomato (30 cals) drizzled with olive oil and red wine vinegar, sprinkled with salt and oregano (100)

A lot of people have been joining the forum lately-I'm glad to see that. :D
