Don't get too excited. I drank last night and I'm sure some of this is dehydration. Yesterday I was 191.1. But it was quite exciting to see a 180s number on the scale! By next Monday ("official" weigh in) I'm sure to be in the 180s.

But if this number is right, I'm only a pound off from my lofty goal for the month. Not bad!

Yeah the numbers in brackets are what I should be if I stick to the lofty goal of having a 1250 calorie deficit a day. That would give me a 2.5 pound a week loss. For some reason, I need to set goals that are really hard to meet to keep me motivated. If I set a goal of a 500 calorie deficit, then I would simply stick to that and never try harder even if it were easy for me to exercise more. So I make hard goals and then am really happy even if I don't get half way there! :p

Yep. Just doing what I need to do to live (BMR + light activity) I burn about 2000-2200 calories. I try to keep my intake between 1600-1800 a day and I aim to burn almost 3000 calories. My exact goals for this month were 1600 consumed, 2850 burned (difference: 1250). So far, my average for the last three weeks has been 1720 consumed, 2790 burned (difference: 1070). I'm thinking about upping my goal to 1700 since I seem to be happier there than at 1600. But then I have to up the calories burned too! I haven't been doing too much exercise this month, so that shouldn't be that hard to increase.

By the way, I have body bugg which keeps track of all the calories I burn and that's why I have exact numbers for that. I love the thing!
 
I gained 2.6lbs on a weekend trip to Charleston. Back home now though and eating right. I'm still about 10lbs down for the month. I guess we'll see what happens at the end of the week.
 
A bunch of it is water weight! On trips, we eat out more which means salty food. I bet by next week, you will see a big difference in the scale.
 
Thats what I figured. It should be gone by the weekend. 12-13lbs a month is my goal so I'm pretty much on target.
 
did not lose any weight this week.... at least the scale didn't go up..But I'm looking to finish this month strong and look at the big picture, the month from start to finish. Good luck to all.

You can buy them online but the price is pretty outrageous - $350 for the arm band and the display.

They have a deal with 24 Hour Fitness gym though and I got mine at a discount with my membership. You can also find them on ebay at about 75% of the retail price.

And then you have to pay a subscription fee after the first 3 months - it's $15 a month.

It's a lot of money and I wasn't sure if it was going to be a waste or not. But I love the thing and would buy another one in a heartbeat if anything happened to this one. Other people I know that have bought it at the gym think it was a huge waste of money. I'm a gadget nut and can be really anal about stuff so it's a perfect fit for me.

The big thing for me is that there is literally no guessing about stuff (well, as long as I'm accurate with my food log). There's no reason to ever wonder why you did or did not lose weight with this thing. From week to week it can be a bit inaccurate because of water weight, but over a month, it is always spot on. For instance, over the past 30 days, the body bugg says that I should have lost 8.8 pounds and I've lost 8.6 pounds. I just like that I know what I should be weighing and weigh ins are no longer a surprise for me (unless I'm retaining water!)

Way to go Lolli! I'm still recovering from water retention after drinking. Arg. I'm changing my goals with that from allowing myself to drink once a week (and it usually ended up being twice) to twice a month. If I slip a little, then I'll still be better off than what I am now!
 
I am a huge sucker for alcoholic beverages as well. And it's hard to turn it down when all your friends are getting hammered. I usually drink every other weekend, both days. That way I get familiar with turning down drinking and I can eventually limit myself to once a week and be able to conquer the temptation. Now I don't even have as strong of a desire to hang out with my friends as I used to (meaning not a strong desire to drink). I'll hang out with them maybe once a week. If I'm with them twice then I'll not drink one of the nights, or I'll just have a couple and drive home. Then I workout the next day. Can't workout when your hungover! Well you can.... but it's hard to get yourself movin. Planning to workout the next day usually really helps with keeping your head straight too.
