I Think I Can

wtf "ensure"

Are you an infant? :p

Make banana cream pie "milkshake" instead. You need casein + unflavored psyllium husk to make it thick enough, but it's amazing. I drank it 5 times a day for almost 6 weeks. :p

I know you are but what am I? ;)

But seriously, I'm not even sure what those things are let alone where to find them. Ensure is easy to find, I can buy it at the grocery store, Target, the drug store, and even Costco.

If I can find your ingredients in my grocery store then I'm set. Otherwise I have to buy what's easily accessible.

A friend of mine does Adventure raceing, and no longer needs his road bike worth about $1800 (Aus)

I am buying it off him for half that and I can part pay it off.

He says that it has done about 5000km.

Sweet! 5000K is low miles so you won't need to do anything to it. When is the race you want to do?

Swam 2.5 miles tonight. It was the first swim I've had in a while where I felt confident in the water. I had a lot of race imagery going on so that probably helped.

I'm getting that deja vu feeling:

- Core
- 20 Mile Bike
- 2 Mile Run @ 6:45 pace

The good news... I didn't stick anything out of the ordinary in my smoothie this morning.

- Core
- 10 mile bike on the beach cruiser (aka the road bike) because the winds are really gusting and my race wheels are now on the tri bike. Now sense in getting knocked over.
- 2 mile swim

One more big workout tomorrow and then it's the final week of taper.

It's all down hill from here. Finished my last big workout:

5 mile run @ 8:20 pace
40 mile bike done in two loops negative splitting the second loop
4 mile run @ 8:10 pace

I only have one more mini-workout before race day so I thought I'd throw up my numbers for your amusement.

I'm my training leading up to this race, I:

swam: 222.52 miles for a total time of 109:00:07

biked: 5156.18 miles for a total time of 297:43:30

ran: 948.47 miles for a total time of 128:26:46

That's 535 hours or 22 plus days of exercise.

Actually it would be more than that since there's core and weights. That's probably another couple of days.

I'll be heading into the race at a whopping 152lbs.

Dang, thats a lot of....days! Thats also such a low weight. How tall are you??! Thats how much I weighed 9 months pregnant with my first kid! lol

good luck man.

I hope your very best performances all come together on race day and you have the absolutely best day of your athletic life.

WHEEE! Just got back... what fun!

The short version:

The weather turned bad and they almost cancelled the swim. It was raining, hailing, and the winds were at least 30mph. I was freezing, nearly hypothermic, couldn’t open my food because my hands were so cold but still managed to get through it with a positive attitude. I finished 14th overall, 5th AG, 34th out of the water, 37th off the bike, and 10th on the run. Now here’s the real kicker…

Finish Time: 12:20:58 – 1:20 swim, T1 2:24, Bike 6:54:23, T2 1:39, Run 4:01:54

This race is HARD without the weather. Full story to follow...

Congratulations!!

14th overall? That's freaking awesome! I don't know anybody who has placed that well in any triathlon :)

You're the man, tsi !!!!!

Wow! :speechless: I can do the bike in a standalone 112 but can't do the swim or run in those times even standalone.

Nice event tsi. Once I get this running thing down maybe I'll progress to swimming and actually try one of these things! Once again, WAY TO GO!!
