WOW teammates...I notice some great losses. I am so proud of you guys!

ME...UGH!!! I gained a horrible 2.4 pounds.

I know it has to be water weight, my rings won't budge off my fingers. I ate great so it can't be that. Hopefully it goes away by next weigh-in.

No problem for me with this next challenge.

Bye,
Cathy

Sorry to get this in so late.
Lost .6 pounds since last week. Not sure if that will count for a loss.
Sorry so short but it is late and I need to go to bed. I will update the whole thing in the morning.

Hi all - I will update my stats, but I truely don't know what my weight is because I don't really know where my sis hides her scale. I'm sure it's the same or less (hopefully) - we haven't been eating bad stuff and I've gotten on the treadmill at least twice since I've been here. I did get a workout this morning - 46 min.! Of course our 45 min. challenge is done with. I need to go see what the challenge is for this week.

Good luck everyone! I will be back in full swing by Thurs. (hopefully!)

Hi everyone!

I will not be able to be on WIFI because we are switching hotels and I don't want to spend that much money on it. But, I will talk to you as soon as I get back to Illinois(Thursday). Have a great week!
Cathy

Hi, I'm new - just signed up today :)

I've been on my weight-loss journey since the beginning of 2006, and now have just ten pounds to lose...I always like to be challenged and would like to know more about the Halloween Challange: Caspers Countdown - Can I join?

Nice to meet ya Beryl, and gratz on your weight loss to date.

This Halloween Challenge actually started a few weeks ago, and the teams already formed and "full". (There are 4 teams competing over 8 weeks.) I can't see why you couldn't do the remaining weeks of the challenge as a personal/individual quest. The motivation and support has been key to my continued success.

There are other challenges that may be open, and or starting soon that you could possibly join/participate in.
Personally, I'm hoping that NIAPAGE(the creator of this challenge) is going to throw together a Christmas Challenge *hint hint* as I'm having so much fun with this one.

Today was a party day, I have not tracked my food, but dont think I did badly considering all the food available. I got in my fruit/veggies, and my water, but lack the exercise today 8(. Back into routine tomorrow! YAY!

Hope everyone else had a great weekend!

Good afternoon folks!

As posted in my diary, attended a party for my daughter and 2 cousins yesterday. I think I did very well, especially considering how I have eaten at party settings in the past. I allowed myself a few bites of cake, and spoonful or 2 of ice cream.

Today I got up and knocked out my exercise (3o min) and will be doing some strength/floor exercises after I get home. I still feel my tummy muscles from the sit ups on Friday! lol

The selfdietclub thing works like Fitday I think. It has recommended 1548- 1798 cal a day, based on my exercise/lifestyle. It seems alot, but when I compare this tool with weight watchers, they seem to be about the same.

"Recommended Daily Allowances (DRI) for Female age: 38
Calculations performed are based on your last Weight Tracking on (10/6/2007) at 173lbs
Daily Activity level (from profile): Moderately Active
To maintain your weight based on your profile: Consume 2548 calories per day
To Lose Weight (2 lbs. per week) consume: between 1548 and 1798 calories per day

Protein: 20% (83.65g) Carbohydrate Needs: 50% (209.12g)
Fat Needs (not to exceed): 30% (55.77g) Fiber: (25g) "

Anyway, hope everyone has a great day!

I'm no expert on this whole weight loss thing but that does seem like a bit to many calories. Over on the Calorie King and on Sparkspeople both sites put me between 1220-1550 cals to lose weight. And I weigh 209. So with you being 173 that seems a bit much. But like I said I am no expert.

Yarmiah and Bella,
I am no expert either but here is my two cents:
I calculate my calories based on "sedentary lifestyle" . My BMR right now for my weight is : 1744. I try to create a 400 cal deficit by food and exercise 600 cal off to reach my 1000 cal deficit for the day.
Way back when I joined E-diets and they have menus prepared for you based on weight, height, the amount you want to lose etc. they calculated my calorie requirement at 1200-1350 for 2lb loss/week.
Right now I eat anywhere between 1300-1400 cal/day and exercise at least 600 cal off. And most of the time I still did not lose 2 lb with that, but 1.6,1.4,1.8 etc. I read that weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise. I can second to that. If I eat close to my 1700 cal/day, seems exercise does not really makes a difference and I won't lose.
Now that said, not everybody is the same, but I know if I consumed close to 1800 calories a day, I would not see an oz. of weight loss.
Yarmiah: when you select moderatly active lifestyle they already assume that you are exercising anywhere between 250-300 cal off a day. Maybe that is why the calories seems high.
Hajni

I described myself as "Moderately Active"-

"Moderately Active: 30 minutes of continuous activity that occurs 3-5 times a week or more than a total of 90 minutes a week. Activities may include walking, jogging, leisurely cycling, calisthenics, golf (no cart), swimming (slow), leisurely canoeing or kayaking, weight lifting, aerobics, or water aerobics."

I don't think I'm up to VERY ACTIVE yet:
"Very Active: 30-45 minutes of vigorous activity more than 5 times a week or more than 150 minutes/week. Activities may include skiing (water, cross country or downhill), rowing, canoeing, kayaking, fast dancing, jogging (5 mph), cycling (12 mph), basketball, hiking, lap swimming, jogging (10 minute mile), vigorous basketball or skipping rope." I'm close to that level I think, doing 35-45 min on teh ski machine 5-6 days a week, but it will prob recommend I consume more calories?!

Looks like the base the plan on age, weight, goal (maintain, lose 1 lbs a week, lose 2 lbs a week), and activity level.

BUt my guess is, the more active you are, the more calories u should consume.

Good Morning Caspers!!

Nice Tuesday, it is raining here like crazy and supposedly will rain for the rest of the week. Poor DH , he works outside.
Yarmiah: our bodies are all different and respond to different things in different ways. You might want to try the recommendations for the couple of weeks and see if you loose with that. If you do, it works for you.:)
I went through a lot of trial end error. I signed up to Sparkpeople, ediets, fitday....and some others and tried to follow the suggestions as for calorie intake and exercise. At the end I had to figure out my own method that works. I am sorry to say that none of these online calculations ever worked for me except the BMR calculated as sedentary/bedbound(LOL). I take that as the calorie amount I need for maintaining and i create a deficit from there. I am sure you saw it in my diary how I calculate it so I won't bore anybody with it. My calculated loss (based on cal deficit and cal burnt with exercise for the week) is in line with the actual loss I am seeing. I might be just one of those people whose maintainance level is pretty low. I can't imagine myself eating 2000cal/day once I am at my goal weight because I know I will gain with that. Mine is going to be more close to 1800 but that will be another trial and error to figure out I am sure.

Last night I baked an acorn squash with apples and cinnamon and stevia and nutmeg... I brought that for lunch today. It is amazing how much food fit into how little calories.

Anyway, hope everybody is having a great week!!!
Keep going Caspers, we have to win this challenge!!
Hajni

Updated my info so Hajni would not try to kill me!

This weeks challenge is easy! I eat a grapefruit in the morning and a Pear when I get back from the gym in addition to other veggies at lunch and supper. Matter of fact I had some brussel sprouts and green beans with my lunch.

Hopefully the rest of you are making out the same. Also...

I LOST ANOTHER POUND THIS WEEK!

Little too optimistic on my goal for the end of this challenge, but I am more then happy at the moment.

Work has settled down as well, I have stayed home most of last week and all of this week, but my boss is on the phone and eyeing me at the moment so who knows.

GL and congratz team for kicking some @zz on the challenge so far!

I don't really think that Hajini would kill you, maybe maim you, but not kill. If she did we would be down one team member! LOL And I know she doesn't want that!!! :rotflmao:
