Floater's diary

Good for you! I might join you in January 😊
We can support each other :)

I also found an interesting recovery program called SMART Recovery, it´s evidence-based and relies on CBT techniques. I forgot it existed but when I had a longer stint sober earlier this year, I would leaf through those materials and found them to resonate with me. I like how the program focuses on behaviors and the idea that we CAN do something about them - instead of focusing on the person as faulty. It´s not aimed at any single substance or behavior, it can be used for improving all kinds of behavioral issues, so I might actually find some help regarding my eating disorder. They do speak of addictions of course, but I find it very nice that they don´t use stigmatizing language. They have materials and online groups :) https://www.smartrecovery.org/

That sounds so positive and up-building rather than down-tearing like a certain common but not really proven to work program! I hope you'll feel comfortable sharing any insights you gain from the process.

Thank you, I hope so too! It´s a relief that they approach even urges and relapses through a sympathetic lense, after all they are incredibly common (and admitting that isn´t "preparing" to drink or use or whatever is one´s issue). It is an abstinence program, but "slip-ups happen". I wrote the acronym on my blackboard as a daily reminder: Self-Management And Recovery Training. Such a lovely way to approach it - and they also don´t take any part in the debate of addictions as illnesses. Neither are they exclusionary: people are allowed to use other forms of treatment on the side.

I have not been able to eat anything today. Neither have I showered or left the home. I´m pretty sure I finally caught the ´Rona o_O

Oh no! The SMART program sounds great but being so sick really, really doesn't. At this point it doesn't even matter that much which of the many viruses currently going around is hijacking your cells for its reproduction: they're all nasty and I hope you recover quickly and fully.

I'll check out that website later in the day. It sounds really positive & non-judgemental.
It does sound like the dreaded 1671225310114.pngGrrr!

Thanks Llama!! I took a Panadol and my depression meds and although I´m physically wiped and can´t even think about food, mentally I´m really relieved. Found a really good video about harm-reduction:

Mental relief is a big thing all by itself. Thanks for continuing to check in even though you feel bad so we don't worry!

I managed to take a nap and after that I had some miso broth, multivitamin fizz and plenty of water with a side of a potassium pill. I had an online autism assistance meeting and during it I managed to do some housework. I´ll have another cup of miso and then clean Heikki´s cage because that simply can not wait anymore. Then probably some more rest, and I´ll try to eat some nuts and raisins, and then I´ve GOT to change my sheets and shower. I feel smarmy

Jesus Christ, I deserve a medal, I cleaned Heikki´s cage and vacuumed despite dripping with sweat and coughing like General Grievous lol

What Cate said. Your self-care skills even when ill are impressive.
