Floater's diary

Having rice porridge for breakfast. Slept well. The weather is like from a Christmas movie, fluffy snow and bright sunshine. Booked myself a hairdresser's appointment for 3.1. 2022, I'll get my hair bleached back to blond, it's more mature-looking than my current faded pink/purple and will give me a nice confidence boost when dealing with the trans clinic. (I'll do the zebra stripe vision thing later, when the process is all done). The hairdresser has -30% off of all work in January, so it's worth it to do it now.

I'm definitely getting that microwave, heating porridge on the stovetop was annoying and slow and it still somehow ended up lukewarm. :D I'm feeling really tired but in a pleasant way. Bummer that the gyms and pools will close on 28.12 until 10.1., but it can't be helped, and today I'll just kick back and relax.

I think I'll have ham quesadillas and a side salad for lunch. Not very Christmassy, but I crave that right now.

Dinner was mashed potatoes with ham and smoked salmon. I've just been taking it easy and watching Witcher on Netflix, and drinking rosee. I found a tiny, black, horn-like growth on a formerly-declared-benevolent bump on Nera's thigh. I'm glad she has a vet appointment coming up on 15.1.!

Had a salad with pumpkin seeds and smoked salmon. Feeling exhausted. Decided to heat up the sauna and hope to fall asleep soon.

EDIT: nope, no sauna; I have horrible stomach cramps. Will have a quick hot shower, brush my teeth and hopefully pass out soon

Hope you're sleeping soundly and will feel better in the morning.
Thanks - I slept badly, but the pain eventually went away. Had nightmares, and I worry about Nera's weird growth.

Having mashed potatoes for breakfast, topped with marg and scallions. I re-heated them in the oven, and kept looking forward to getting that microwave 😂 I'll have something rich in protein for lunch but right now I just want my comforting mash.

The good thing about cancer in older creatures is that they tend to grow a lot more slowly than in younger ones. So having to wait two weeks shouldn't make a difference.

I've been crying quite a bit today. Had a cheese omelette and a small cup of buttered congee for lunch. Will eat my veggies and fruit later.

Snack: a bowl of miso with chopped brussel sprouts, two turnips. Let's hope the veggies will help with my heartburn!

I have missed your Christmas Day!
I had such a full-on day yesterday & didn't go near my phone. There were enough teenagers constantly on theirs. I thought of all my forum friends in the morning & sent my mental vibes of love & well wishes to you all, but didn't get a chance to actually get around the diaries at all. I hope you got some of those vibes xoxo

Breakfast: buttered congee
Lunch: meatballs shallow-fried in sesame oil, cherry tomatoes, cucmber, and scallions

I'll have a friend come over in a couple of hours, yay! I still have some cleaning to do but I have plenty of time to do that :)

Snack: four chocolate pralines and a cup of coffee. Finally fixed one of my hanging plant pots by adding more fixture points (it's hanging from the plastic thingies inside the curtain railing, which are pretty flimsy especially as the plant has grown so much), so I no longer need to fear about it falling down at random. Next I'll run the dishwasher, scrub the bathroom, wipe the floors with a static cloth, and wash them.

Yay! The apartment is perfect. Well, I could wipe some more dust and the garbage cupboard needs a good scrub, but it's not like my friend is going to come here to inspect those things. The air feels so great now that it's moister and the floors are clear of dust, sand, and dog hair. Some day soon I'll take my plants to the shower and wipe the leaves of those in hanging pots to prepare them for the approaching spring...!

Having a nice fresh living space is lovely and a great way to close out the old year. I'm sure Nera is happy about it as well.

Wow. I wish I could say my house is sparkling clean! It's almost impossible to keep up in our place. I try not to look too hard. Hope you have a lovely time with your friend xo

Thank you @LaMaria , @Cate !

We had a good time, had pizza, we found gross bugs in my sickly aloe and threw it out, inspected the rest of my plants, talked, eventually I opened up about stuff that went on in my childhood and adolescence. My friend had been there all that time but I had never told her about that stuff back then, because had no words for that stuff back then. So while she's my best friend, I haven't been emotionally vulnerable with her that much.

I had a little breakdown when she left because it felt like young me and current me had collided and touched each other's loneliness. Trying to be brave is a very isolated headspace so while it's necessary to break free from it, it hurts when the emotions finally hit. My bed feels cold and cramped and I miss my old bed and my ex... The idea more than the person.

Being brave & sharing your experiences with a close friend would have been utterly exhausting. I cannot even imagine how emotional that must have been. All I can do is send you a great big hug :grouphug:
