Fitness after 4

Major congrats on your run, Missy! Nice pace for not running in so long. How did you keep your endurance up durring the 9 months? Bike?

Treavor,
I have been biking and using an elliptical machine, but it is not the same as running. Based on my legs I pushed too hard, but that's the way it goes. By three miles I was ready to fall over lol.

Missy - yeah, I have days where I will run like a mile and think I'm gonna die, but then I have days, like today, where I can run 4.5 miles and it's nothing. :)

Oh, and from one mom to another, just do the best you can do. And don't think of it as cheating. Cheating tends to include guilt and that is a bad thing. So you treated yourself. No big deal. Pick yourself up and move on. It's hard, trust me, I know. But you know....you don't have to eat clean 100% of the time. 90-95% is good, and then you also don't feel deprived. Or at least that is how I feel.

Best of luck to you!

Thanks Beth and Stingo. I am still paying today lol, I have some major DOMS that I didn't have yesterday. But at least I can do it. May try a less intense run today to limber up.

Missy

Ended up using the Ellipitical for 20 minutes, followed by push-ups and sit-ups this evening. My legs are doing better, should be through the worst of it tomorrow. Nutrition wise I kicked butt! I am very pleased with my performance today. I am not planning to weigh in until Monday, I seem to do better by not looking.

What a week. I am working like crazy and barely treading water. My abdomen is killing me, guess I may need to see a doc. Finally a friend of my husband died this week at 42, I did not know him well, but I still feel terribly for his family, his children were to young to really understand. Makes you really appreciate the fact that nothing in this life is guaranteed. Just rambling I guess............

...since there are no guarantees in life.... live each day as though it were your last... one day you'll be right...

Thanks Stingo, great words of advice.

Thaks for the rhymes Chillen....always inspiring.

I am in a better place this morning. My abdominal pain has lessoned, so hopefully it is resolving on it's own.

My husband went to the funeral this morning, I stayed home with the kids. He seems to be in a better place emotionally.

My kids start school on Monday, so we need to do some last minute shopping and get haircuts.

Exercise-wise, I will be doing cardio today. Planning an evening run :)

The rest of evening will be spent working.

Hey, Missy - how are things going? You haven't posted in a few days....hope your belly is ok and that things are going well!!!

Hi Beth, Thanks for asking. I have been working crazy hours this week. I have read a few posts but not much else. Will be getting back on track this week as the report is due Tuesday!

Back for more....

Well it has been almost three months since I let everything spiral out of control, stopped posting, and started lurking. My work life balance definately was one sided. I have spent my time working or raising my children, but have pretty much neglected myself. I really need to change the way I am handling life right now. More importantly I need to take better care of myself. I can't say I have done much of anything right as of late and I have decided to fix my problem. I think in effort to not have back pain I am making things worse for myself. I am currently at the best I have been in months pain wise. Although I do find that I have to be really careful not to turn wrong or reinjure the herniated disc.

I took a step in the right direction by cracking the spine on the NROL book I bought at the end of summer and am in the process of creating a spreadsheet to track my workouts. I started today with Fatloss I and let me say it kicked my butt! I am already feeling tight and I am sure I will be plenty sore tomorrow.

Diet wise I am creating a menu today and will stick with it all week except T-day, which I am just not going to worry about.

Here are my starting stats as of this am:

Weight 140lbs
Height 5" 6"
Chest 36.5"
Abs 29"
Hips 39"
Calves 14"
Biceps 12 3/4 "

My goal is to lose 10lbs by New Year's Day. I think it is an achievable goal. We'll see.

I am glad to see alot of familiar faces here, great job keeping at it!

Welcome back :)

I was wondering what'd happened to ya. You're right - sometimes you just have to care for yourself, (in order to care for others).

As for NROL, you do realize you should start with the Break-In program first right? :) I'm currently doing Hypertrophy I, and it's challenging too. If I can help at all, please let me know.
