Out of the mouths...

So I'm sitting in my bed putzing around on my laptop and the kid comes in, hops on my bed and proceeds to put her head on my shoulder.... like she did when she was little..

I thought it was kinda cool...

but then she said..

"Oh my God, Mom... you're all bones and no flub!"

I wasn't sure whether to be disappointed or not.. :confused4:...lol

Warning: This has NOTHING to do with fitness

Pardon me if I used this place as a sounding board. Sometimes I feel the need to write and this is where I'm comfortable doing it.. COPE! LOL

Last week, I was on a conference call with the Director of my work group who informed all of us of a new career opportunity. This opp would require stepping out a comfort zone and into a gaping hole of unknown.

My comfort zone is having been with the same company for 15 years. I know the ins and outs of the biz. I know the legal aspects. I know telecom tariffs like the back of my hand.

This opp is for a brand new telecom company that is just starting up. The

Today, I submitted my resume to the new company... offering myself to the hiring gods hoping they look my way and smile upon me with good favor. (hahaha).

So.. this is my mental philosophy at the moment...

Don't worry about failure. Worry about the chances you miss when you don't even try.

i hear the future is mental telepathy

you may be out of luck

p.s. and rub yer lil short and stout-- LOL!

Down/Up

No... I'm not talking about mood swings..hehe ;)

One of the trails I ride frequently is more wooded and "natural" than the other so there are trees and streams and a more rolling, uphill/downhill feel to it.

On this trail there is a paved "Y" in the roadway and beside it is a gulch (for lack of better terminology) that is offroad. It goes down steep, bottoms out and back up steep and has been my nemesis for quite a while.

The goal has been to pedal down and back up without stopping. Sounds easy, but I learned gravity and momentum are not always going to be on my side..lol. I also learned that it takes three strong low gear strides with an immediate switch to a higher gear at the bottom, and pedal like mad to power up the other side. My coach taught me that ;)

Last night I beat it!! Granted it took me 4 tries, but I did it :)

Go Me! LOL

Tonight was legs and I did a mix up of sets and stuff.

See what you think.

Warm up - 5 min. 2 min walking /3 min run (incline 2.5/rpe 4.3)
Squats (back) - longbar - 1x12 (45lb) 1x10 (55lb) 1x10 ( 65lb) 1x8 (55lb)
Standing Calf raise - 1x10 on bench (body weight) 2x10 (20lb) single leg raises - each
Leg extension - 3x10 (50 lb)
Midway - 3 min - stair machine - level 8 - on toes
Hamstring curl/kickback combo - ankle strap & cable - 3x10 (30lb) each leg
Lunge/hammer curl combo - 2x8 each leg/curls with 5lb weight
Reverse lunge - 1x8 body weight only
Finish - 5 min. 2 min walking /3 min run (incline 2.5/rpe 4.3)

I'm thinking that next time, i'll up the weight on the squats and maybe add dead lifts, but this will be up to the coach.. ha!!

FF...Thank you so much!! You're the best!:D

I did the leg extension seated.
I did not do the abductor/adductors at all Sunday... could barely walk out as it was.. LOL

Tonight I'm going to do my "Day 3" workout - bis/tris and just realized I forgot the jumprope at the house. Oh well... will make due with one there :)

While I'm at the gym i am going to check out a couple of cable moves to see how they feel.

1. The abd/add cable move - mostly to figure out the mechanics and to find my starting weight.

2. Side lunges with a shoulder/lateral raise on the cable. Not sure yet.. Am gonna see how this works and maybe get some feedback from you?? We'll see..

I'm finding i like compound moves.. kind of like a 2 for 1 blue light special.. hehe :D

Picture Updates :)

I've been steady at working out since April. Weight at that time was 190. I even put up the pix of where this little journey was taking off from.

It's been 4 months and I got a wild hair and decided to do some updated pix just to see the progress.

So...today, August 20, 2009.. weight is at 151 and the pix show where I'm currently at.

Yes.. I know I still have saggy skin... so what? It's part of who I am at this stage of my life. Besides, it's not as bad as it used to be so if you don't like it... don't look..LOL

However... before you get to the evidence, I have to tell you...I didn't do any of this alone.

I have the BEST help, coach, friend, mentor, and guide....flyinfree!!

Dude!! You totally rock!!

Oh and my apologies now for the pic size differences...
