Dieting in Quarantine

What is a "rasher"? Heard the word in a movie the other night and I am curious. Is it just a slice of bacon?

You are correct!

Been a little off-grid the last few days. My sister has had a dispute with her live-in landlord, so every evening this week has been spent writing stroppy letters on my sister's behalf. It (touch wood) seems to have been resolved, so I am very relieved. I messed up on Monday by having a lot of pizza and some beer with my family (discussing the landlord issue), but the last two days have gone well :)

Good for you, dealing with your sister's landlord. Fingers crossed.

Pizza and beer sounds good to me, too good right now! Its been over a year since I have had more than a taste of pizza or an occasional beer.

Your sister is lucky to have a lawyer in the family!

Happy to see you back on track, keep it up.

Thanks for the messages everyone! No word from the landlord which is a relief. She used to be a close friend of my sister's and the fall-out got very personal, so I will call it a victory when my sister moves her stuff out on Monday.

That is some solid will power - well done! I can't remember the last time I went for longer than a month without pizza or beer. I might track how long long I last :p

Today has gone well, although I am a little disappointed by the projected calorie burn. I have done a 30 minute HIIT session and a 30 minute Body Combat class, but as I've not been out for a walk today then it looks as though I will only be burning about 2,000 calories. I know fitness trackers are not super accurate as I am quite tired from the HIIT, but I suppose it goes to show why spending all this time indoors can cause weight gain. Even when I clean the whole house I only do 4,000 steps, which is less than I used to do when I was sat in the office but was forever running to the printer and kettle.

My weight has mostly stayed the same at 9 stone 7.5lbs. We have quite a social weekend coming up (Chinese is on the menu on Saturday), so hopefully being good from Tuesday to Friday will hold everything in place!

That's really too bad that it had to go like that, but glad it seems to have worked out for your sister. I'm sure she really appreciated your support with that!

That is good to have maintained that loss! have a great weekend :)

Thanks for the messages guys - I certainly will have a good weekend :)

Today's weight update: 9 stone 7lbs. My sister saw me today and commented that she could really tell that I've lost weight since lockdown (the start of this blog). Hooray!

I had a really nice weekend. Not diet friendly in the slightest as it felt a bit like Christmas with how much eating and drinking was going on, but never mind! Bizarrely, my weight today was 9 stone 5.5lbs (a new low), but I'll take it.

Today has been a bit strange so far. My sister moved out of her flat today so I was looking after the family dog as my parents were helping her. My mum warned me that he had been very sick last night and I needed to feed him rice and scrambled egg. I took him out for a walk and within 5 minutes it was clear that he was still unwell as he was passing a lot of blood while going to the toilet :ambivalence: ended up having to make an emergency appointment at the vet's. He seems fine in himself so will just need to monitor him. I suppose things like this is good practice for the real thing!

The rest of today went well :) I did a short Body Combat class and then went to see my family for dinner. My sister and the dog seem much happier!

Food diary
Breakfast: Scrambled egg and ham in a wholemeal wrap
Lunch: a protein bar
Dinner: pasta and Bolognese
Snacks: 4 after 8 mints
Nutrition: 1,580 calories, 141g protein, 54g fat, 125g carbs

Exercise: 11,669 steps, 2,163 calories burned

That is good practice for getting a dog of your own. I'm being very careful with our Archie's diet as he had a history of UTIs, which may have been caused by stress from being bullied, but I am steering clear of grain. Glad your sister is happier :)

Glad your sister's dog is ok and that your sister had a successful move-out.
Must be a relief for that to be over for everyone. Nice work on the good eating and exercise...and your new low in weight!

Oh bless Archie! I'm sure he will soon be able to put that past behind him now he has you.

Thanks :) think my family will be taking it easy this week just to get over everything!

Today's weight is 9 stone 7lbs. I did measurements as well, which were 33.5-26.5-37.5 so I have lost half an inch off my hips.

Yesterday went well :) I did a short Body Combat class and a "hybrid" class, which was a mixture of Body Pump, core exercises and yoga. Was quite fun! I also did a lot of work outside (including jet-washing) so felt no need to go for a walk.

Food diary
Breakfast: protein shake
Lunch: turkey burger with sweet potato fries in a wholemeal wrap
Dinner: Thai chicken curry with veg
Snacks: two chocolate digestives and two after eight mints
Nutrition: 1,541 calories, 175g protein, 40g fat, 117g carbs

Exercise: 10,691 steps, 2,324 calories burned

Today's weight it 9 stone 5lbs. It is roasting outside, so I will not be exercising today and will instead finish the jet-washing. Hopefully I will be able to fit in a walk later.

Yesterday turned out just like I had planned :) I was very tired after the work in the garden so it was only a short walk.

Food diary
Breakfast: a turkey burger with a fried egg
Lunch: egg mayonnaise sandwich
Dinner: salmon in tomato sauce with veg
Alcohol: 2 beers and 2 gin and tonics
Nutrition: 1,774 calories, 124g protein, 46g fat, 74g carbs

Exercise: 16,364 steps, 2,502 calories burned
Deficit: 728

Today's weight is 9 stone 4.5lbs, but I am expecting this to go up after the alcohol last night. I carried on with the work in my garden, but my fitbit went a little crazy when I started jet-washing the fence as it registered over 17,000 steps  It must be the motion of my hand moving up and down in the air as it was fine when I was jet-washing the ground. I did, however, go for a walk afterwards so I know that the 10,000 steps after that were earned.

Food diary
Breakfast: eggy bread
Lunch: a protein bar and a protein shake
Dinner: chicken curry with veg
Snacks: an apple, a chocolate digestive, two after eight mints
Nutrition: 1,535 calories, 146g protein, 50g fat, 121g carbs

Deficit: 1,357 (allegedly)

That's pretty funny! That must be good exercise for the arms anyhow.

Haha yes and it was the first time in ages I have been standing up all day!

Ahhhh I'm so excited for tonight. One of my friends is hosting an outside "rave" (rave being 6 people as that's the maximum we're allowed in lockdown :p). I can't wait to dance and chat rubbish to real people again. I haven't decided what I'll be drinking tonight, but the below is the planned food diary so far:

Breakfast: High fibre cereal
Lunch: chicken goujons with brown rice
Dinner: chicken curry with veg
Snack: two after eight mints

Nutrition (less any alcohol I drink): 1,288 calories, 105g protein, 33g fat, 134g carbs
