Dieting in Quarantine

Have you & your sister fixed the world? That would be nice. Another good day, 101 :)

I wish we had! But you never know...

Today was okay. It's the last day of nice weather for ages as two weeks' of rain is now forecast, so I spent it jetwashing the patio. Unfortunately I didn't get it finished in time, but definitely had enough for one day as my index finger has gone numb!

Mine too! I call it the "luxury breakfast" :)

Today went well. I had a Zoom call with a recruiter today who was telling me about a couple of jobs working in the legal team for a telecommunications company. It sounds really interesting (and rather current!). However, I am a bit too qualified for the junior role but I don't have quite enough experience for the more senior role. Oh well! She said that she would be having a chat with them anyway since I am in the middle of what they are looking for, so we shall see. She also said that I am the only "success story" she has heard so far in that my employer is keeping me on Furlough until I get another job, as apparently a lot of other trainee solicitors have been left completely in the lurch by their firms. Puts it in perspective!

Well, yesterday proved that I well and truly need to exercise first thing in the morning. I put it off, went for a walk in the rain, came back freezing cold and so decided to warm up on the sofa by having a glass of wine instead. D'oh!

Today's weight is 9 stone 6lbs, but I had an upset stomach last night so it will definitely go up tomorrow. Pretty sure every recent blog I've looked at people have reported been feeling unwell - how strange! However, it hasn't deterred me as I am feeling very good today. I woke up and immediately did Body Pump. I also included an extra challenge by using some resistance bands for the squat and lunge tracks. I can tell that my muscles will be aching tomorrow! My food wasn't perfect as I went to visit my gran during the day, but still in the right direction.

My boyfriend and I have planned a lovely day tomorrow. A long walk followed by steak and red wine. I may even dress up for the occasion!

Isn't that odd about a bunch of us having some sort of unwellness! I had to smile at your coming home from your walk to warm up with a glass of wine :) Great about starting off the day today (or is it now your yesterday? hard to keep track of time zones!) with a good workout!

That sounds lovely :)

Very quick update:
Yesterday's weight 9 stone 8lbs
Today's weight 9 stone 6.5lbs

Very long walk yesterday (25.5K steps), but have made up for it today as have barely left the sofa today!

Thanks guys. It was a lovely walk on a famous trail that we haven't done before. My boyfriend was a little gutted that we hadn't quite beaten our record from April, but I had definitely had enough by then!

Today's weight is 9 stone 8 lbs. I have decided that I am going to turn it up a gear as I have been coasting a little too much. Nobody needs wine and crisps on a random weekday night, even if it's a pandemic. We have a holiday planned on 17th July for a week in the Lakes. I have my fingers crossed that this one might actually go ahead as the last two have been cancelled. That should be more than enough time to get to the goal I have set myself.

Hey DA, I hope you are not putting too much pressure on yourself to be 'perfect'. I obviously don't know how tall you are, but 9 stone 8 is a pretty good number. Maybe you are already 'there' and you just don't know it.

I'm around 5'3, so have been hovering around the 23 mark for my BMI. I'm not unhappy with where I'm at currently, but am planning on being a little more focussed on my diet to lose more fat so when I'm on holiday eating and drinking whatever I want then it actually feels like a treat. I know what you mean though - I wouldn't ever want to hide away from calorific engagements with friends and family just for the sake of seeing abs!

Today's weight is 9 stone 7.5lbs. I have realised that I haven't done on my measurements in ages! It's the same as I last recorded them on 18 May. 33.5-26.6-38.

Some exciting news yesterday. My boyfriend and I have been on about getting a dog for ages, but we've always put it off because I work too far away from home. Obviously I have more or less left that job now, and we think that with the pandemic there is a good case for us make working from home part of our lifestyle (boyf was already doing so 2 days a week pre-pandemic). We had our hearts set on getting a cockapoo puppy, so I started looking and soon realised that most unethical breeders were taking advantage of pandemic by charging triple the typical price and were not letting people see the conditions that the puppies were living in. As there had been such a puppy boom we had discussed getting a rescue in a few months' time when people realise that a dog does not suit their lifestyle, but for our first dog we'd like to experience raising a puppy.

I have now found a breeder who seems absolutely lovely, very caring of her animals (so much so I had to fill in an application form answering multiple questions about our lifestyle and knowledge of cockapoos, complete with pictures showing that our garden is secure). We have put our name down on a waiting list for a planned litter in January. It seems ages away now, but I am very excited that things are heading in the right direction :D

Update on the last few days: exercise is going very well :) I started using booty bands for Body Pump, and they are definitely making me feel the burn. Other than that, we have been doing a lot of walking in the rain. Suppose it gets the practice in well before we (hopefully!) get a dog.

Your dog will have a very fit & healthy "mum". Time will fly & the next thing you know you'll have a puppy. We have had Archie 4 weeks tomorrow. That flew!

Hey DA, your food and exercise diary really looks good, you must be feeling pretty good about it. You should be!

I am sure you will appreciate your cockapoo when he/she arrives. I have always enjoyed having dogs.

What is a "rasher"? Heard the word in a movie the other night and I am curious. Is it just a slice of bacon?
