Dieting in Quarantine

Yes i too am feeling that weird uncertainty as plans to open up start to unfold. Good to have some nice solid plans around staying healthy during that. Keeping a nice steady rhythm of routine in the background of the changes helps I think.
Nice work on the weight loss and measurements!

It does - keeps the head filled with positive things that are in our control :) and thank you!

Fitbit has informed me that I had a good night's sleep last night (a score of 81 of 100), which I rarely achieve so I will consider that a win :)

Today's weight is 9 stone 9 lbs. I am going to do a core class before meeting my mum for a socially distanced walk for her birthday. Will be bending the rules slightly as she wants me to have a drink with her in the garden and grab some food, but will be nice to see her. Harvey, our dog, will be joining us showing off his new haircut from the trip to the groomer's. I will be very jealous as the earliest mine will be getting done is likely to be in July!

It’s very hard to be operating at 100% at the moment. Sometimes I wake up and I just want to go back to sleep again because I have another day of tedium ahead of me. You’re doing really well.

I really hope you enjoy the day with your mum, sounds lovely.

I'm glad you are going to catch up with your Mum on her birthday, 101. It was mine on the 18th and it was lovely as I heard from all the people I love, but next year they will be hugged to death. I decided to cut my own hair as I didn't want to get so close to a hairdresser & then my husband volunteered. He didn't do a bad job. I mean, it will grow, right? ;)

Thanks for the messages guys :) yesterday was lovely. My mum enjoyed the walk, particular as she hadn't been to reservoir I I had taken her to before. We then shared a bottle of fizz and had some Chinese food. My weight went up to 9 stone 10.5lbs (damn Chinese food!) but I took advantage of the bloat by keeping food light today. It was beautiful weather so I took advantage of it by going for a long walk and sunbathing. Body Combat and work on the garden tomorrow!

Another quick message - today's weight was 9 stone 10lbs. I hope will have worked off that Chinese by tomorrow!

As I have probably mentioned, I was supposed to be going back to work at some point to finish the last 3 months' of my training contract. However, the Solicitor's Regulation Authority have now confirmed that they will allow 3 months' of Furlough leave so it looks like I am qualifying as a solicitor in July after all :) my employer have said that they will honour their promise to extend my employment by keeping me on Furlough for as long as possible (the scheme ends in October), but I am free to leave before then if I find full-time employment elsewhere.

I am surprisingly ambivalent about this. It's exciting that I have jumped the last hurdle to qualification, but also a bit weird as I will never be a "proper" full-time employee at that firm ever again. I was kind of looking forward to getting back to work so I could gain my last 3 months' experience. I'm sure the good points about this will sink in once I sleep on it. I resisted the temptation to have a glass of wine while mulling it over and instead did a Body Combat class. Woo!

I like to hear that you are being treated with respect by your current employer. Everything is "a bit weird" at the moment. I think it's mostly good news for you, & will feel like it when it does sink in.
Meanwhile glass of wine? No. Body Combat woo indeed!

Nice that you had a good day with your mum on her birthday.
Good for you keeping up the workouts and resisting the temptation to sit with a glass of wine instead!

What is a qualified solicitor? Are you a lawyer? That is interesting.

Yes, I'm a lawyer. I mainly work in property acting for commercial landlords/tenants and developers. It has been rather quiet with lockdown, but hopefully it will bounce back once things get back to normal. What do you do?

Oh my, I suck at posting every day. I set myself that goal last Monday and broke it by Saturday. Awks.

It started with bit of a wobble on Friday, as I was catching up with colleagues over Zoom while having a few drinks. I stupidly had my first drink on an empty stomach did not follow my own advice of drinking water with it, so I felt pretty drunk after 3 glasses of wine. When the call was over I decided to smoke in the garden by myself, had another glass of wine, and then had a little cry. I think it was prompted by the fact that, although I am a little shielded by the Furlough scheme, I can't quite shake off the dreads of having to find another job in the near future. Hopefully that is off my chest now.

Saturday was a write off. Felt hungover and did not even go for a walk. Maybe that'll teach me. (9 stone 7.5 lbs from dehydration)

Sunday - Monday was spent catching up with my boyfriend's family doing socially distanced BBQs and the like. It was the first time we have seen them in months, so was very nice to catch-up. (9 stone 10.5 lbs)

Yesterday was my first day trying to get back to it, but for some reason I was shattered and hungry all the time. I am setting myself a new rule to do my exercise first thing in the morning so excuses don't start to creep in! (9 stone 11.5lbs)

Today *finally* went well. (9 stone 10 lbs)

Today has gone well :) weight was 9 stone 8 lbs, which is surprisingly low considering the number of BBQs I had last week. Better not trust the scales just yet :p

Good for you, eating well and exercising the past few days, I am not surprised you lost some weight. You are doing fine.

I am an engineer, but have worked with a lot of lawyers. I do some expert witness work. I think the law is an interesting profession, I like the way lawyers think (most of them anyway).

Ah that's interesting! Bet you have seen interesting disputes then :p

Yesterday was a nice and was fairly busy! (Hence not logging on here, tut tut again!) I did a body combat class, some bulk cooking, went for walk, made homemade meatballs, and then had two Zoom chats/quizzes with friends and colleagues. I *finally* stuck to goal of having water with alcohol, which at the time seemed like it was working as I felt more alert when I went to bed, but I still felt pretty yucky this morning :ack2:

Weight fluctuations:
Yesterday: 9 stone 8lbs
Today: 9 stone 7lbs (think that might be some dehydration)

Good for you sticking to the water plan...you may have been feeling a whole lot yuckier this morning without it!

All looking great on the exercise, food, and weight front! Way to go!

Drinking water in between each glass of alcohol is such a good idea & I didn't do it last night. Thanks for reminding me. I was SO thirsty during the night. Your day sounds lovely 101 :)

It has continued to be super lovely weather which is great for the sun tan, but does not help with motivation for exercising indoors or keeping away from BBQs! I stayed up until 2.30am on Saturday putting to world to rights with my sister after one :ambivalence:

Aaaaaaanyway, today has gone well at least :)
