Dieting in Quarantine

btw-- I was looking at my protein portion and mine's only set at 15% and I have trouble making that even!

I think 15% is about the average intake for an adult, so sounds about right! I would have no chance of reaching my target if it weren't for protein bars and shakes.

I weighed 9 stone 9.5lbs this morning - a new low weight :) my resistance band arrived the other so will be spending some of my gym session trying it out.

Lovely!! Way to go!!

Still around! Been kept surprisingly with the good weather over the weekend and I've been trying to go to bed earlier as I've been struggling to nod off. Have on the whole kept to my calories/macros and exercise has been great :) my boyfriend really wanted to order a takeaway on Sunday, so I did some research and found a local Italian restaurant which was doing deliveries. Never thought I could have grilled salmon and salad delivered to my door!

Weight fluctuations:
Saturday: 9 stone 8.5lbs
Sunday: 9 stone 10lbs
Monday: 9 stone 9.75lbs
Tuesday: 9 stone 9.5lbs
Wednesday: 9 stone 8.5lbs

Monday's measurements were 34-27-38.5, so that is an inch off my bust.

Great to be supporting the local restaurant in tricky times - and getting a delicious dinner into the bargain! :)

Agreed - I'm encouraged to see that they are still running. Others appear to be following suit now that the initial shock of coronavirus has died down a bit, so my boyfriend wants to get fish and chips as a takeaway this weekend. So far the only healthy alternative I can think of is to have the fried fish and then cook some rice on the side for myself.

That's a new low isn't it?

Good to see you doing well.

It is indeed :) although I managed to beat it today by weighing 9 stone 6.5lbs. I suspect that is an artificially low figure as I couldn't have lost weight that quickly, but it's still nice to see it on the scale.

Ordering salmon and salad from an Italian restaurant shows incredible willpower! You deserve the loss for sure!

Thanks! I did have to avoid looking at my boyfriend tucking into ribs and calzone while we were eating...

Today was nice. I did a Body Attack class and had a walk. I was really into the last track in Body Attack as it was playing house music that reminded me of Boomtown festival. After I had my class I got a text from my friend telling me that the festival has been called off this year. Sounds like this year will be spent exercising to music rather than dancing terribly to it...

Going to listen to live music with family & friends is one of the things I am really looking forward to. Well done on the weight-loss & commitment 101.

Good for you, I know the feeling sometimes weight seems to go down too fast, and sometimes it plateaus or even goes up a bit. Take the success when you have it!

The last few days have been a little meh, which is reflected in the weight fluctuations:

Friday: 9 stone 7.5lbs
Saturday: 9 stone 6lbs
Sunday: 9 stone 10lbs
Monday: 9 stone 10lbs
Tuesday: 9 stone 9.5lbs

We don't have much food in the house, so I was worrying a bit too much about macros. I made some choices on Saturday which were in aid of keeping my protein high, but I didn't really think about what affect the salt content would have on me (tinned tuna egg fried rice soaked in soy sauce anyone - yuck!). Since then, I have tried to lay off counting the macros and have just concentrated on calories so I'm not spending hours in the kitchen thinking of more god awful recipes.

We're getting a food shop tonight and so all of tomorrow will be spent batch cooking:
- Chilli con carne
- Chicken butternut squash peanut curry
- Cottage pie
- Bacon wrapped meatloaf (one for the boyfriend)
- Turkey burgers
- Thai and Indian curries - mixture of chicken, salmon and cod

I tend to note down the nutrition as I go along into an app, so it should be very easy to see how many macros are in each meal. Normality here we come!

Soooo for 2 solid days last week my kitchen looked a lot like this while I was cooking:

It was a strangely sociable weekend despite still being in lockdown. I must have had group chats and drinks with 4 different groups of people and we also had a BBQ, so in view of it being beautiful weather I took the weekend off from dieting.

I have been back at it since Sunday and have started a Les Mills Tone and Strength workout programme (attached). I'm enjoying it so far, although HIIT still gives me the dreads. I have been hovering 9 stone 10lbs so hopefully the loss will show through in the next couple of days.

Well done on getting lots of batch cooking done. It's the best way to avoid temptation. Hope you have another fun social but from a distance, weekend this weekend xo

Love that you're enjoying gorgeous weather - it's a beautiful (but very cold!) day here, too. Sushine really lifts the spirits (would I feel the same in the heat of summer... maybe not! :blush5: )

Weight updates:
Saturday: 9 stone 9 lbs
Sunday: 9 stone 10.5 lbs
Monday: 9 stone 9 lbs

I am losing fat as well. Measurements were 33.5-26.5-38 today :)

Although things are heading in the right direction, I'm feeling myself slipping a bit. The UK Government announced its plan to get out of lockdown last week and how long the Furlough scheme will last for, and since then so much of my thinking time has been dedicated to wondering what will happen next. My employer has assured me that I will have a job to go back to when Furlough ends (although I only had 3 months of my contract left anyway), but I have no idea if this will be in a couple of weeks or as late as October.

I'm also not being as productive with my free time, partly because I haven't been sleeping properly. Not really achieving anything with my day is making me feel groggy. However, I am sticking to the gym regime despite trying to talk myself out of it a couple of times.

I have a plan to try get myself back into focus:

Sleep
1. No screens when I go to bed or get up in the morning. I will put my phone in another room so I'm not tempted to start scrolling when I can't sleep.
2. Get out of bed no later than 10 minutes after my boyfriend does, regardless of how tired I feel.
3. Listen to calming music about half an hour before bedtime.
4. Set myself a time to go to bed and STICK TO IT.

Diet
1. Keep breakfast and lunch simple. I am spending up to an hour cooking for the sake of having my macros bang on, which is really not worth the effort.
2. Keep a pint of water close by when drinking alcohol with friends. I am always waking up after a pub quiz wondering did I really need that last drink.

Diary
Write an entry EVERY day, even if it's only a sentence long.

Today's food diary:

Breakfast: A packet of fridge raiders and a protein mug cake
Lunch: Tuna pasta
Dinner: chicken curry with veg
Snacks: a packet of crisps
Nutrition: 1,395 calories 150g protein, 114g carbs

Exercise: 11,304 steps, 2,029 calories burned (HIIT class and walking)
Deficit: 634

I hope you are able to turn your sleep patterns around. I try not to look at my phone after 9 pm & tv bores me enough to send me to bed & to sleep, not necessarily in that order.
A good day yesterday, 101 :)
