davisgirl’s journal

... that was a lot of pounds that went pretty fast so my body must be recouping a bit before I drop more. It’s so funny how weight seems to get lost in fits and starts and not at all the orderly 2 pounds/week that is expected.
Yes, I think so, about the body catching its breath before launching into the next jump forward. And it is funny - not a simple matter of eat this, do that, and you'll lose exactly this, though obviously the eating and the doing are both essential.

I like the sound of your doctor's approach - very steady and measured, very calming, I expect, to have a doctor like that. :)

Hey Davis, how's it going? Check in and update us.

Hope all is well.

Hey everyone! Sorry so late yo update. Things are going really well. I weighed in this morning at 208.4 which is on target. That’s up from a recent low of 206.8 — I went up from that after celebrating with a couple Mexican mudslides after getting a great part time job lined up. I think getting out of the house part time will help with my moods, although getting through the nervousness of this first shift is keeping me occupied. I start tomorrow!

I should have had a new pic by now, but half my bikini went missing. I have a new one on order so we might have to wait on that. But the weight loss has been finally working like it’s supposed to and I feel really good about it. I can’t wait to post an updated pic! I’ve got this keto thing figured out now, and switching over to all organic, slowly. It takes a while to figure out what’s worth the price bump and what I can do without. But the changes I’ve made so far have been scrumptious.

Hope all is well — I promise to visit all your journals soon, and thanks for keeping up with mine!

Oh hey! And I finished my first DietBet contests, there were 2 4-week ones I joined that are finishing up now. Overall I invested $50 in these, so I’ll let everyone know what I got for a payout when they close the books up in the next couple days! FDF618CB-0D0D-4CE8-9E81-2A4655985A21.jpeg

Hooray - an update! Great to hear that things are going so well!
A Mexican mudslide hey? I'm guessing that's a particularly rich and smooth cocktail - though it might be a strenuous outdoor exercise. (I'll look it up after I've posted this - don't worry about setting me straight. ;) )
The part-time job sounds terrific - cheering you on for the first shift!

...half my bikini went missing.
Hmmmm... now I'm reverting to thinking the Mexican mudslide really is a kind of strenuous outdoor exercise. ;)

Fantastic that the keto thing is working for you - and that you feel so good about how you're going. I'm really looking forward to seeing the progress pics. Yes, the price of good food is a bit of a hit, but our health and our enjoyment of life are two of the things that are most worth spending on, IMO. Not the only two, but two of.

****

late addition: oh my! I'd forgotten about the Dietbet. :D Will await further reports with interest!

Haha! Yes the Mexican mudslide is very rich and smooth and carbolicious! Over a hundred carb that day! The scale immediately drifted up 2-3 lbs and it’ll take the same amount of days to work them back off. I tend to splurge once in a while—next time I’ll splurge with some cucumber vodka I have on hand and at least limit the damage. :beerchug:

Hey Davis, good to hear from you, it always is. And even better to hear that:
the weight loss has been finally working like it’s supposed to and I feel really good about it.
That is great! And I doubt a couple of Mexican mudslides can really add 1.6 lbs, most of that will pass quickly. Having a planned indulgence now and then doesn't seem like a problem to me. You are doing great.

I didn't know what a Mexican mudslide was so had to look it up, it does sound rich. However you should take a look at the Urban Dictionary's slang definition for it. Not one I assume you intended!

Keep on posting, you are important here!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone! Haha Rob I’m going to skip looking up that Mexican mudslide, my imagination is bad enough!

Hot off the press:
DietBet payouts, overall I invested $50 at the beginning and ended up with 60 at the end, not really that great, the Healthy Wage one pays out a lot more. I think DietBet takes half the pot and the winners split the rest.

I have been at 207.4 for the past 3 days. Expecting a good session at the gym today so hopefully that will help me break through. The job is going well, 2 shifts into training. I’ve been feeling good. Thanks for the support!

It doesn't look like a huge payout, but then it's 120% of what you invested, and just in one month, too - a 20% interest rate per month would give you something like $375 at the end of a year... :sifone:

(Joke! Don't trust my maths or my investment advice!)

Ah HA!!! You are correct my dear! Considering that was just a month changes things a bit — perhaps I’ll reconsider my decision not to do another ...

And the payout is near instantaneous — a day to close the books, then it was available for transfer to PayPal, PayPal to checking was another day, so pretty quick!

Now I'm feeling anxious
I was only joking - I mean I know the maths adds up, more or less, but I don't think it's a sound investment strategy!
It's certainly fun to hear about, but I can't help wondering it's a ploy to get people to do plunge much more than $50, and then scarper with the lot, or else to refuse payout on the grounds that the loss hasn't been attested by their in-house doctor or something.

No don’t apologize! You were right. DietBet always guarantees you get at least what you put in as long as you lose all the weight. No doctors involved, you have someone take pictures of the scale and you on the scale, so that part is pretty easy.

My plan is to do these short 4 week bets while the big 6 month healthy wage is running as little progress checks.

Sounds pretty great to me, you lost weight and won! How do they verify the weight loss? Are you just trusted or do you have to weigh in somewhere?

Your weight loss will continue, 3 days makes for no trend, it will come down. Keep up the good work!

It’s pretty easy, I do it in my phone. They have an app. You weigh in once a week. The app guides you through the process of taking a picture of the scale with the number, next to the weigh in word written on a piece of paper. They give you the word right before you weigh in. Then you take another pic of you standing on the scale with your whole body visible and light clothing. Then submit and you’re done. At the end in the final 48 hours you submit a final weigh in. They have the option of rejecting your weigh in, then you have 12 hours to submit a new one, but I never had a problem with any of mine.

They don’t require you to weigh in first thing in the morning either, so the start weight can be a bit inflated. I had a bit of a built in cushion from the start on these, but my final weigh in ended up being at night too, just a timing issue for me, so all things ended up being equal.

Managed to locate the other half of the bikini. Had a great session at the gym, here is some fresh pics:

I think I can tell a difference, the weight loss is starting to show!

Pam congrats on the new job and the weight loss . Keep thinking of nice creamy cocktails now after reading about mudslides
