Super tired today. I did a lot. My mom needed some help getting the yard back in order after that last few snows we've had, so I helped with that for a couple hours. Then a friend and I went on a pretty long hike. My feet are SORE. I really need to invest in a good pair of hiking boots rather than continue to go in the same old pair of beat up chucks. I think I will sleep very well tonight.

I would suggest hiking shoes instead of boots unless you plan on hiking in the elements. They're lighter and do everything as well as boots except keep moisture out. I have a pair of solid black ones that I can also use as an around town shoe, if I like.

That said, Chucks are my favorite shoe of all time, you just can't do much athletically in them, nor can you walk on sharp rocks and things.

How far out of the loop am I that i don't know what Chuck's are?? God, I am so old some days. Now I have to go Google something else I found on this site.

Good job on the exercise!
Defo deserve some cool hiking shoes/boots! a new pair would probably motivate you to get out and do more exercise!!

Just took a read through some of your diary and you are doing great!! 13 pounds down and giving up soda are difficult things to accomplish!! And great job on all the exercise you are getting in!

Mr. Vee, I love my chucks to death. I've basically worn nothing but since 5th grade. Unfortunately, the really don't give much support. I don't know what to do though. My feet are so flat and any athletic shoe I've tried is really uncomfortable for me.

Today was good. I did pilates today. I'm SLOWLY noticing improvement in my ab area. It's exciting to see the improvement. :D

My brother and I found a lot of fish on sale today. It probably isn't the freshest, but sometimes slightly old fish is what poor college kids can afford. I'm still looking forward to it. I'm thinking tomorrow we'll do spaghetti squash with tomato sauce and cod.

Unfortunately Chucks have their weaknesses. For me the biggest one is the sneaking suspicion that 41 year old men shouldn't wear them.

Hi Cory :) I just saw your signature somewhere else in the forum and wanted to come by and congratulate you on being soda free for 18 days!! Huge accomplishment :)

Hi Cory! Thanks for stopping in on my diary. I've gotta get caught up on your diary but I see that you're dealing with snow in April (ugh). That totally derails plans when you like to hike, but it sounds like you had been doing great before. Definitely invest in some good quality shoes if you can! I like to hike and switching from running shoes to hiking boots basically changed my life. Mostly because I no longer feel as if I am going to slip on every tiny rock I see, but overall the support is great, too. I've got boots but the boyfriend has less intense trail shoes and he loves them.

Cory, I understand how rough being in college can be, especially when trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I struggled with it the entire time I was in college. Only now that I am a few months out with a *real* job (lol) do I feel like I can really invest in my health. So I really admire you for sticking with it, and making things work.

Hope you are having a great week.

Hey Cory,
Congratulations on the 1 pound loss! Take it where you can get it girl...like MrVee says...some weeks there will be 0, so take it now! Good choice on the Pilates...I've never done that!
Keep up the good choices!

Sarah

19 days without soda!! Woohoooo! Go girl!

Fish sounds yummy...wish it was cheaper too..

Well done on the workout - it is just an amazing feeling when you notice improvements!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

So, today marks three weeks free from soda. In one more week I'll have a month under my belt. It's hard to believe.

Today was a mix of good and bad. My car wouldn't start. Just from what was going on with it, I figured it was the battery and checked it with my voltmeter. It read 12.5V across the terminals, so it should have been fine. After I messed around with it a bit more I had to call my dad because I was having no luck. The two of us FINALLY got it started and he took it on to a garage. It actually was the battery, but god only knows what was actually wrong with it. By this point I was two and a half hours late for work and had missed my orbital mechanics class. I did manage to get to both yoga and pilates tonight and the world looked quite a bit better after that.

Tonight at yoga, this guy told me I, "have a beautiful practice." Whatever that means. It sounds like some kind of yogi come-on. :p Well, it has the word 'beautiful' in it and he was smiling when he said it, so I'm taking it as a positive.

You'll have to keep an eye on that one. Definitely a positive.

I just replaced my battery as well. Voltmeter was good. I got it cranked and it was getting a charge. I took to the autoparts place and the tester said 83% health and 100% charge. The rest of the system checked out so I bought a new battery and that fixed it. Weird and frustrating.

Congratulations on the soda. Today is day 7 for me.

Well everyone else has already said it but seriously, three weeks without soda, that's awesome! I'm guessing that'd be like me saying I went three weeks without a glass of wine, and that hasn't happened in quite some time :)
