Consistency. It's not a pizza topping.

But, uh, if you've never played Resident Evil 4 on the gamecube, you need to get it right NAO. Or I guess you would also like Skies of Arcadia. Or that one rpg where the combat is more like a 2d fighter... what was that called...Tales of Symphonia.

I just got ResEvil 4 for gamecube

Are you ok man? Where have you been?

I checked my e mail and saw there was some new posts in this thread and thought Focus finally came back!

Where are ya man, I'm worried about ya. I sensed a little bit of discouragement in your posts before you took off... come back to the forum and let us know what's up, we won't judge you.

So, I'm alive. Details to follow, but many thanks for the concern/wishes everyone.

It wasn't about motivation, it was about helping a friend who was in some serious trouble. And, here's the craziest part, I'm 10 lbs lighter and in better shape than when I left, despite being unable to continue with most of my training and diet plans.

I'm sorry for disappearing without leaving word. I really meant to, I just was in a rush, and all scattered in my thoughts.

As soon as I got back (just a few days ago), I renewed my gym membership and everything's back in swing. I've had some amazing experiences and learned a lot, I think, and my motivation is at an all-time high. I think you can expect to see great things from me.

I hope everyone in the contest and my journal buddies have been doing well. I look forward to getting caught up on your progress.

It's good to be home. :D

Good to hear you are doing good!

Best regards,

Sounds like a made-up excuse, right. Haha. Good to see you're still around, Lei.

Edit: And you too, Chillen! Still rockin' the positivity I see.

Info on my current diet and training regimen to follow, once I've figured it out. Gonna get a posture assessment and some body fat testing done at the Uni, just cause. Wanna have body composition numbers, and I've been meaning to have my posture assessed for a while.

Good to see ya back brother. Let us know if we can help. Or, just vent if you wanna vent. I look forward to hearing how things are going. Take care, Greg

05/29/08 Here I go again...

So what I've been doing for the couple days since I got in has been pretty basic.

Cardio

I've discovered I quite like running. It has a very meditative quality. My mind shuts right off. Anyway, while away I was doing sort of a continuation of my third week of couch-to-5k. As a result I've worked my way up to running about 6 miles in 70 minutes (didn't really have all that much else available) most days of the week, but in 90s run/90s walk intervals still.

So what I'll do now is start shortening those walk intervals to get up to a real jog. Thinkin' 3 mins run/90s walk for this upcoming week, then 4 mins run/60s walk, then 6 mins run/45s walk, then just continuous running, and work on improving my time until it hits 45+ minutes. Then work on speed.

Strength

Went in and did one workout the other day and now have my usual first-time-only brutal soreness. Gonna stick with a simple FB compounds routine. Starting with higher volume stuff for now (warm-up followed by 3x15). Not quite but pretty much NROL beginner.

2x/week for two weeks (inclusive of this last Tuesday, so 3 more workouts), then up it to 3x/week. Gonna be a couple months before I'm back up to where I was, I suspect, but I'm gonna be as strict as possible on form. Light weight, perfect reps. To this end I've acquired a workout buddy. A little girl, actually. And here's the best part: she's much a much better runner and stronger than I am. If that's not gonna keep me pushing it to the max, I don't know what would. :D

Nutrition

Not really gonna screw around with this just yet. Just gonna eat clean, and only as much as I'm hungry for. Which isn't much, lately, but I will get a minimum of 200g of protein per day. Also all the important vitamins/minerals/oils. Berardi-style, mostly, but if I feel low on energy I will eat carbs outside of the workout window. So far I'm finding this very easy, but there will be hard times.

For the time being, I'm not terribly worried about perfection in my diet. I will eat as well as I can (which is usually pretty damn good), but I want the emphasis on performance, as I think it's finally dawned on me that I will need to dramatically improve my fitness over the long term before I will see anything resembling the kind of results I want.

Still tracking calories and weight, and this time I'll be getting body fat done professionally every two weeks as well, so I should be able to tell exactly what is or isn't going on.

------------------------

So, there ain't much to it but to do it. Today's a day off, because I haven't had one in a couple weeks. But it should be the only one until mid june, so please feel free to call me on it if I try to take one.

Hope everyone's kicking off a stellar weekend. :beerchug:

Forgot to add:

Current average (over the last week) weight: 199.8 lbs. That's all I know for now. But it's under 200. Booyah.

Also, hi, and thanks, Greg. I'll be sure to check on how things have gone with you and the contest when I get a chance. For now I gotta go play some squash with a crazy woman who is trying to kill me. :D

05/30/08

So all I've got on the agenda for today is a game of squash with the workout buddy I've taken to calling She-Hulk. Seriously, this girl is a mutant. I expect to lose an eye at the very least.

Also, I learned something very very exciting yesterday. I wear contact lenses, so I've been avoiding swimming for ages, but yesterday I was talking to a buddy and apparently all you have to do is dip your goggles in the water before putting them on, so they don't fog up. Hells yes, I am going swimming. I looooves to swim.

Also it occurred to me that I should probably get laser eye surgery sometime soon. I had been waiting to see if there would be any reports of people's eyes falling out and junk. I suppose it's been long enough. Better call Gimbel.

Will probably also go for a run today. I adapted to a whole lot of walking around in the last couple months, so I feel lazy and get super restless if I don't move around a lot. Hmmm. Maybe a bike ride.

I had the laser eye surgery done about 7 or 8 years ago and am extremely happy that I did. btw, welcome back!
