Consistency. It's not a pizza topping.

Got caught up in with picking fights and proselytizing massive salt consumption and forgot to log my junk. Oops. :D

Training

A1 BB Bench Press 45x5, 75x5x2, 95x5, 115x5, 125x2, 115x4
B1 Assisted Chin-up 150x20x2
C1 Seated Cable Row 75x15, 60x12x2
C2 Face Pull 30x15, 30x12x2
D1 DB Shrug 60x15x3
E1 BB Curl 30x12, 25x10, 20x15

Thoughts

This workout was a lot of fun. I can already tell I'm gonna like this U/L split much better than full body. Felt like I had more energy to actually work some muscles without getting slaughtered by the leg work.

Other than that, not much to say, except that I am weak as a puppy. Notice I can't bench for 2 reps 5 lbs less than what I could move for 5x5 when I went away!

The shrugs were way too easy, was a little overcautious on the chin-ups, and apparently dramatically overestimated my strength on the curls. There was a little girl standing next to me curling twice as much weight. Brutal. And she was smirking at me! :D I'll show that smirky smurf. :SaiyanSmilie_anim: Oh, and I did seated cable rows instead of standing bb. Want the legs right out of that equation.

But yeah it was good. Also I found some boxes to stack for tomorrow. So, we'll see if I can jump them.

So having a plan of action before heading to the Y was very useful today.

Tomorrow should look roughly like this:

A1 Box Jumps 30"x3x5
B1 DB Bulgarian Split Squats (front leg elevated) 30x10x3
C1 BB Romanian Deadlift 100x12x3
D1 DB Sidebend 30x15x4

Seems so short and easy... Hopefully max-effort lower body will make me cry.

Might just do vertical jumps instead, aiming to simply go as high as I can. Will figure something out with regard to tracking later.

Training

It's been really awesome this week, running in the cold rain. It's so refreshing. Also, when I'm out there all by myself I feel like Eye of the Tiger should be playing in the background, as the audience sits enraptured. :D

LOL. I tell funny stories? :yelrotflmao:

Gah. I'm doing that thing I do when I'm active where I drink freakish quantities of water and don't have enough appetite to eat as much as I've planned to.

Uh, dont do that then?:p :)

I'm pondering ordering a few thousand caffeine pills and using them as a bit of a crutch to keep my energy levels up. I can do that with caffeine - intentionally cultivate what amounts to an addiction and then drop it whenever I feel like it.

:rofl::yelrotflmao:

You may turn into a "little Chillen", so this may be a good thought! :)

Best wishes,

Chillen

Oh, snap. Thanks for reminding me. Gonna order that **** right meow. :D I was thinking to myself a little earlier, "Wasn't there something I wanted to order... something supplementy? No, that can't be right. I've still got that whole damn closet full of stuff to use up..."

I tend to use a caffeine pill before workouts... I like it! Gives me a good placebo effect if nothing else, and very cheap too!

Sometimes I take a couple excedrin before races. It has the caffeine pick up and masks any owies I might get along the way :D

This excedrin, it must be powaful.

I'm sorry, I cannot seem to help making fun of you. I am a bad person. A 198 lb bad person, though. Please to continue being nice to me, mr. scale.

Training

And it actually looked like:

A1 Box Jump 16"x3, 23"x3x3, 26"x3x3
B1 DB Bulgarian Split Squat (front leg elevated) 50x9, 30x8
[Switched to]
B1 Walking Lunge 40x10
C1 BB Romanian Deadlift 115x10, 115x9, 115x8
D1 DB Sidebend 30x15, 50x15, 70x15x2

Thoughts

This was a fun workout. And I walked home in the cold rain. Very enjoyable.

Apparently, fat boy can jump, because all of those heights were very easy. It's just that I couldn't find any more boxes, and then I discovered (with the help of the very friendly Y staff) that the bottom one was adjustable, with pegs. I can't wait for next dynamic lower body day! I'mma jump all kinds of ****. :D

Bulgarian split squats are BS though. Especially with the extended ROM. Felt like all I was doing is wrecking the foot on the bench, so I switched to walking lunges, which wreck me all over. But then I realized that wasn't an option, so next time I'm going to do weighted step-ups.

Was a little over****y on the RDLs, but decided to just keep it there and work it up to the 3x12. Given past results, this will not take very long at all. Maybe two workouts at most.

Sidebends... yeah. I don't really know what I'm doing, there, because they are super easy. Either I am doing it wrong, I need way more weight than I can hold on to, or I have the obliques of a war god (which is clearly not the case :p). Thinkin' maybe switch to kneeling (cable) sit-ups next time. It's not on the list, but I'd need that special chain to do standing, and it's close enough I figure. The rest of that **** is all excessively advanced for me, except maybe the swiss ball crunch, which I don't want to do because a) it looks goofy and b) more importantly, they're almost always in use. These Y people love a good pair of swiss balls.

Yup yup.

runrunrun

Forgot to add: tomorrow's a day off from weights, so I'mma do my first "real" run. Gonna go out there and just run for as long as I can without a walking break. I'mma be like raaaawr. And the path gon' be all, "eek". And it should be 3 miles I think, with maybe one break. Pretty stoked that I finally get to run to my "run" song. Been building up to this for a couple months, haha.

Should probably start running on the track though, for my knees' sake. Or maybe alternating. I really love running next to the river.

And when I say knees', I'm pretty sure I mean ligaments'.

Ran 5.0 miles, 55 minutes

That's not a typo.

I left it all out there. Fear, grief, shame, doubt, exhaustion... Drowning in the river somewhere.

Real poetical, that, but actually a bit of an exaggeration. I could've kept going. Just figure I might wear something out. Mannn, I looove running in the rain. This time it was a full-on thunderstorm, no lie. I felt like a lion.

Tomorrow's training should look like:

A1 DB Bench Press 60x15x4
B1 Lat Pulldown 45x12x4
B2 Face Pull 45x12x4
C1 DB Lateral Raise 40x12x4
D1 DB Shrug 90x10x3
D2 BB Curl 30x10x3
E1 Wrist Roller (10?)x2x2

Gonna be a face-melter, I can tell. I'm so excited.

Popeye had it rough

Ever blend and drink 6 oz of spinach? I have. And I don't think I'll ever be right again.

The worst part is, it actually lowered my diet score. IT WAS ALL FOR NOTHING. :bncry: Damn you, One A Day Multivitamin for Men. You did this to me!
