Consistency. It's not a pizza topping.

I don't understand how your not losing weight, especially after looking at those pictures, you definitely looked slimmer. I guess the only explanation is that you built some muscle to replace that fat... right?

Presumably. If I would bother to make time to go get the body fat testing done instead of just whining about it we might have a better idea, haha.

From what I've seen the rules are not set in stone. Berardi for example cites numerous case studies where even highly trained athletes gained mass close to, equal to or in excess of the amount of fat they lost in cases where they lost a lot of fat. And that was from just dietary changes, which often included an increase in caloric intake.

One I remember was for a beginner lifter eating at maintenance whose results were
Net result — 8 weeks:
7lb weight loss; -19.5lb fat, +12.5lb lean
Another was for a martial arts trainer who gained 20 lbs of muscle while losing only 12 or so of fat for a gain of 8 lbs over the same time period.

I'm currently down 3lbs for over 6 weeks and hopefully up ? lean mass. But based on the rate at which I would in the past be losing it, that would have been a **** of a lot of muscle gain offsetting my fat loss. It would be way more noticeable I'd think. But I am(/was) terribly out of shape and pretty flabby so I'm guessing the differences will become more pronounced over time. I know when I get up in the morning and look in the mirror my stomach sticks out way less than it used to. From the side it's almost even with my chest, and from the front I can see lines under the fat.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the clean up. If you are just making food for yourself there's not a lot of reason to really prepare great meals... unless you enjoy cooking or something.

I always still made the flaxbread, though. I ate so many hamburgers you wouldn't believe it... haha. During the superbowl they were selling 80/20 ground beef for like 1.68 a pound, I bought 12 pounds of that stuff and was eating 6 oz hamburgers for a loooong time.

I ate them with ranch dressing, couple pickles, and cheese.... that's one of the things I miss about keto right there!

I've got some sirloin burgers (just ground meat, shaped into burgers). I've been eating one or two a day for most of the last few weeks, so yeah I believe you. I'm so boring I just eat it plain though. It's like I'm a robot now, haha. I don't care at all. When I crave salt I put some on, other than that...

But I'm not sure this 1500-1800 calorie thing is such a good idea. Can't see that it's doing particularly better for me than the higher intake (only been a few days though), and man am I gonna be starving after my run today and only have 200 calories to eat. Unfortunately, I already committed to it, and that means it's a matter of honor! :SaiyanSmilie_anim: I'm stuck until Velocity... and then I'm stuck with that... and then I'm gonna have the bestest fat kid week ever. :D

C25K Week 2, Workout 2

2.6 miles.

Didn't "feel like" going out to run tonight. My mind was extremely intent on convincing me that I didn't have any energy and that it was too late and blah blah blah. Took me almost an hour to finally step out the door, but I did. :SaiyanSmilie_anim:

The scale, it taunts me! Hahaha. We'll see who laughs in the end, my swarthy digital nemesis.

Musings on Velocity

So I threw together a sample Velocity meal plan for a couple weeks from now.

VelocityOffDay.png

1 1/3 Tbsp Fish Oil
10 servings True Protein CMDI (80% casein, 20% whey)
8 Tbsp Milled Flax

That's without vitamin or mineral supplementation, hence the low NQ. But I noticed something. That is almost exactly the same as what I am doing now. Same calories, similar ratios, the only difference is my protein will come from shakes instead of food. And the ratio of calories from protein: calories from fat, which is basically reversed.

The main thing though is I think I'll be trying out the stuff from trueprotein. I like that they sell the flavor packs individually and you can mix in as much or as little of as many flavors as you want. That's badass. Also like being able to order my **** mixed, and the cleanness of it. 0 fat, 0.5g carb per serving. That translates to 60g more protein over the course of the day which would have been junk filler in the Metabolic Drive.

So if my temp is any indication, eating less calories has no effect on my metabolism. I don't understand why I am such a mutant.

Oh, I ate like 7 Tbsps of flax yesterday while watching a movie. It took me the entire 3 hours to get them down. Chewed up flax is like some kind of slime. rws, I can't believe you find these tasty, haha. But at least it's something to munch on. Plus all that fiber and ALA and such. Gonna have a little more now. Poopsmithing-wise I'm fine, but it can't be healthy to be getting as little fiber as I am, so I'll make an effort.

Gonna scramble some eggs. Mmm, mmm, nothing like salty barely-cooked eggs with a little feta cheese.

I gotta check out trueprotein, i've heard great things about it.

Yeah I've noticed the regulars rave about them on several of the forums I lurk in. I figure either way, if it's gonna taste bad, I may as well get the good stuff, and the separate flavor packs. I like that idea much.

8:30 on a saturday night and I'm sitting here watching the clock, waiting to run, haha. Supastar!

I've decided I'm gonna take a half serving of Surge before running (starting tonight). It's well within my carb limit and really, I should be anyway. I don't like the stuff, but I do need to use it up so I can get something better. I have an irrational bias against unnecessary wasting of "food". Probably a fat kid habit, actually, hmm. Not sure if I'll just add this onto my current calorie total (which would be the sensible thing to do), or make room for it (which would be dumb - more my style).

C25K Week 2, Workout 3

2.7 miles.

I was real excited to get out and run today. But the body wasn't quite so willing. Had to talk myself up almost from the start. Overcompensated for my tiredness by running a little harder at the end 'cause that's just how I roll, but my body is not liking this every day stuff. As I wrote in Steve's 'what's your biggest obstacle to fitness success' post (haha), "Hard work is hard!"

Boy in a box the fever is all day. Boy in a box the fever is all day. Are you alive, I-M-I-N.

Hmm. Might have to start taking my rhr every morning. That's a little strange, the temperature trending up. I'm now starting to wonder if it isn't insulin resistance but rather insulin sensitivity. Gonna have to get that checked out in a couple months.

This caloric intake is wearing me down though, I won't lie. Can't wait to be done. And then, Velocity (ugh), after which I'll try a more Berardi "Don't Diet" approach. Assuming this stuff still isn't working as well as I'd like. I honestly can't tell.

Also for anyone out there wondering, after extensive sampling of them all I've concluded that every flavor of Biotest Surge tastes like garbage. Except for Chocolate, which tastes quite a lot like a chocolate oreo.

Whey hydrolysate. More like whey hydrolytaint.

Maybe you need some video games in your life, that might help with the weight loss :)

Hah, I guess I just said that cuz I wanted to ask if your playing any games lately? I've been playing Suikoden 5 on the ps2, zelda twilight princess on the gamecube, and Xenogears on the ps1!

Xenogears. <3

Nah, rws. I'm still kind of bored with what's out right now. I bought Mass Effect, but I've been sort of afraid to play it because I know that when I do I'll be pissed off at the world. Tried out bioshock a while ago and that was just crap. Good reviews do not a good game make.

Been fairly busy with all this fitness stuff I'm workin' in, and when I'm not I've been spending most of what would have been my video game time playin' guitar and singing songs (I got some karaoke equipment) and whatnot. Also the girlfriend's currently insisting on giving me dance lessons every day. Mostly so she can show off, as far as I can tell.

But, uh, if you've never played Resident Evil 4 on the gamecube, you need to get it right NAO. Or I guess you would also like Skies of Arcadia. Or that one rpg where the combat is more like a 2d fighter... what was that called...Tales of Symphonia.

Have you played Xenogears? That game is awesome!

Why do you think you will hate the world cuz of mass effect? Dissappointed at the state of the video game industry or something?

Yeah... i've played RE4, that game rules. I have played a bit of skies of arcadia but got interrupted about 5 hours in (by other games)... I just started it a few months ago and haven't played for a while, so I might try to get back into it sometime.

Tales of symphonia I've been meaning to take a look at but never tried it yet.

**** yeah. I like that it has an actual plot. And the battle system is one of my favorites.

Pretty much. What I consider the demise of Bioware, and the actual demise of Black Isle Studios. The lackluster performance of Obsidian Entertainment.... bah. It's all very disappointing. Seems like the genre peaks every few years, then immediately regresses. Stays there for a few years, again. Honestly for me it seems like it's been there since ToB. Before that I think it was probably the fallout games. And PS:T.

I never got very far with that one, either. Too 8 year old for my tastes. Very cartoonish. Nothing particularly special.

Tales of symphonia I've been meaning to take a look at but never tried it yet.

It's an interesting game. Nice drawings, intriguing new combat system. Plot's nothing special. I'd rate it a solid C+.

Just doesn't feel like there's much out right now. MMoRPG's, everywhere, and I can't play those without getting too involved. :D

Also, for the record, I am no longer bothering to list my weight or temp daily. I am now also tracking my hr. I'll only mention them if they're abnormal. The reason for this is that I am now quite in the habit of getting it done; I don't need the reminder anymore.

You certainly seem to know a lot about games.. how old are you anyway?

I loved Baldur's gate as well... such a great game. And I know a lot of people that are pretty dissapointed at the state of the video game industry right now. I'm not one of them... I never play new games.. haha. I have tons of super nintendo games I still want to play, plus playstation and ps2... etc.

Heck, this is my third time through Xenogears... I really like that game a lot. The last time I played it I was about 16 years old, and I was confused on certain parts of the story, I think now that I am older I should be able to catch everything. It sucks that that game ended up getting rushed doesn't it? The second disc was pretty bad compard to the first.

So you ever play Final Fantasy VI, or Final Fantasy VII? Those were a couple of my first RPG's, VI is really fun.. or we know it as final fantasy 3 on the super nintendo... VI in japan... ehh

What about oblivion and morrowind? You may like those?

What are some of your favs?

Anyway what's up lately brah? You've been much more quiet lately. How's your morale? Are you enjoying keto? I had a crazy craving for pepperoni the other day...
