hi again
well i just had to post again today, was so happy again this morning after weighing myself!! right at the moment it seems to be going really quickly, i'm talking 1/2 kg a day. i thought it would be like a 1-day big drop, but no!!! anyway, that's another bit chisselled off to reveal a sexy me!! watching biggest loser its the elimination. i never get a chance to watch it cuz i'm always at work at that time but today i've got a day off so i'm taking time to watch it!!! pretty emotional isn't it?

MYSHY mmmm toast!! lucky you! i can't wait to start refeed!!

ROS about that headache, i think of a few of us have gotten headaches over the first few days of the diet, that's what cohens says to expect, as well so maybe try a panadol or something, i always get headaches when i'm hungry and i get grumpy too
and i also am a bit of a smoker, i'm thinking to quit both smoking and bad food is a pretty huge ask, so i'm just concentrating on eating well and following the program. but i'm definitely smoking less. also, the coffee - used to drink it with millk and then one day i start just drinking small black coffees and now they're great totally used to it and probly won't add milk when i finish refeed. u should give it a go!

ciao for now, hopefully some more weightloss overnight keep ya posted!
lis :D

Hi again everyone, thanks for the welcomes. I am happy to read that some of you know "real live" people who have Cohened and kept it off afterwards, as although I was convinced enough to pay a small fortune and convinced enough to want to do this, I admit to some doubts. I am reluctant to tell some of my friends and family as they must be sick and tired of hearing about THE diet which will transform me... I've lost and gained, lost and gained but never really done it all the way. this program is going to be different. Its only day 3 for me and I am doing well so far, water ok, food not bad and I am full enough, so its all good. I have lost 2.7 kg so far and have 29 to go.

Pffft to weighing once a week! LOL . I wonder how many people can actually do that? I understand the reasons for it but.... really!

Gravy...

Hi all,

Hope everyone is going well and staying on the wagon. Last day of week three for me, I get to weigh in tomorrow morning when I get home from work ( working graveyard shifts at the moment ) . Still 100% on the wagon and continuing to enjoy the ride!!

TASH - You asked about gravy. I posted some time ago that I'd discovered how to make some, so I assume it may have been that comment you read. I took the inspiration from the recipes on the Cohens lifestyle website - the gravy was in the poultry section under Chicken Schnitzel with Gravy. You can take a squiz at that recipe and see what you think. I don't make it exactly like that recipe though. Here's what I do:

Gravy Recipe
  1. Using a small saucepan, bring approx 1/2 cup of water to boil.
  2. Add 1 to 2 teaspoons ( depending on preference ) of Balsamic Vinegar.
  3. Allow to simmer until there's enough liquid left to cover food as desired ( the more liquid, the runnier the gravy basically ).
  4. Add herbs/spices as desired.
  5. Add your allowance of low fat mayonaise ( 1/2 teaspoon ) to liquid and stir continually until mayonaise has dispersed and mixture has consistency of gravy.
  6. If desired, add chopped onion ( which has been browned in a frypan ) or mushrooms for mushroom gravy.

Works a treat, but can be a little overpowering to start with if you use too much balsamic in it. Hope you enjoy!

MYSHY - Congrats on starting your re-feed!! All that effort has finally paid off ay? Keep us posted on your weight loss during the re-feed.

Has anyone heard further from
JOYSEY?? I'd love to know how she's been going since her re-feed. She did so well. I've got just a little more weight to lose than she did, and have read through her past posts and am totally inspired by how well and how quickly she lost her weight. If you are in touch with her please let her know we'd love to hear from her!!

Take care, will post tomorrow with hopefully a move on my ticker! :D

Thanks

PinkVirgo - Thanks for the recipe, will definitely give it a go tonight, sounds delish!!!! Hope the weigh in goes well too!!

Hooray for me too - cracked the 75 mark today - weighed myself at 74.8 - only a 300g loss since yesterday, was hoping it would be more as I drank 4 litres of water yesterday, but every little bit helps hey!!!

Love this ticker - now that I've finally got it working!! Reminds me of how much I am going to go out and have fun when I've lost the next 9.8 kgs!!
Have a great day everyone!! ;)

My Wagon Broke :(

Hello Everyone ...

Its sounds like you are all going well. Thanks for the GRAVY recipe PINKVIRGO and good luck with your weigh in today. No doubt it will be another big loss for you.

MYSHY - sounds so yummy having toast again, i cant wait to start the re-feed although if i keep stalling it will take forever hehehe.

Well I kinda havent done so well. I got my period and was so outta energy on Saturday after eating the wrong stuff that although i've not eaten anything majorly wrong I havent stuck to Cohens so am back to 74 kilos today. I got my energy back and am all prepared to get back up and keep walking and lose the weight.

Its hot here already and i got a big shift at work today so that will be so much fun not!! I'd so much rather be at the beach and relaxing in the cool weather.

anyways good luck for today everyone and will report back in on Friday with how things are going.

Ciao Bellas xoxox

Hi Ladies,

It has been a while since my last post, but I have managed to quickly stick my head in occasionally and read through everyone's posts. You are all doing so well, you should all be really proud! It is very inspiring to read about your journeys and comforting to know that we all face the same issues each day with our weight.

After my disappointing visit last fortnight and completely stressing about it last week (enough to cancel my weigh-in), I went back today and had lost nearly 1.5kgs. So my total loss is now 19.5kgs in 16 weeks. I still have about another 30kgs to go, but whenever I get down on myself about falling off the wagon, I remember how much I have lost and take a look at the bigger picture.

I am really concerned about how I will go on the refeed (when I eventually get there) if I have been deviating occasionally. At my clinic, they basically tell you that once you break, that is it. And that is what I have been trying to forget about all last week. So they have not been all that helpful. I know you should stick to it 100%, but it can be difficult when you have work, functions, etc.

Anyway, great to hear that everyone is doing well. Keep up the good work!

P.S. I know that everyone has probably asked this a million times, but how do I get a ticker to work???

Only 500 grams in a week...

Hey there everyone,

Well, I'm in a foul mood tonight to say the least! I had my end-of-week-three weigh in today and only lost 500 grams! I'm so close to sending a "What's going on" email to my consultant, but am resisting the temptation until I see her next week after a month on the program. I expected that a decrease in weight loss would come, but not so soon and not so MUCH! Especially since I've being following the program 100%. All I can say is the weight loss better jump back up after this week, because 500 grams a week is not what I consider to be 'rapid fat loss' as they emphasise in the program.

The only thing that's been different for me in the past week is that I've gone from day shifts to night shifts... so there was a period of say 16 hours when I didn't eat because I have to adjust to not eating during the day ( usually when I'm trying to get some sleep before night shift ) and eating during the night on my shift. Does anyone else work shift work where their hours are all over the place?? If so, do you find that when you change shifts drastically it halts your weight loss? Would be really interested to know if anyone's in the same boat as me.

Hope you all enjoy the gravy recipe... it's really simple and I'm sure there could be lots of different ways to vary it. If anyone comes up with something different, let us all in on it :D

SAMMY - To get the ticker up, I've pasted some instructions given by another forum member some time ago that helped me get mine up and running.

Go to the ticker website.

Go through the pages and select your ruler and your slider. Then enter your details, under TRACK, select weight not weight change. Once done you will see another page that shows your ticker. Scroll down until you see the box BBCode.

I find it easier if you select from then copy. Then once you've logged into this forum, go to User CP at the top of this page. On the left side panel you will see a heading, edit signature. Paste your ticker into this section.

If you don't select from the outside of [img to the end of /img], your ticker will not work.

KIM_J01 and TASH - Congrats on your loss! It feels great to move that ticker, doesn't it?? Keep up the great work.

PINKCANDY - Jump back on the wagon and get it moving at full speed again. We're all here along side you, and can give you a tow if you really need it! :D

Take care all. Until next time.

Hi everyone
I am newie to this forum, but an oldie to Cohens. Have just completed reading the whole of this thread & I must say that it took me a week, but I got there in the end. I feel like I know so many of you already & the motivation on here is huge, so I just want to say thankyou as motivation & lots of it is what I really need right now.

I initially started this wonderful journey in March of 2005 & was doing the program fantastically until a huge family crisis occured. I won't go into detail, but I am still trying to deal with certain issues & yes there are days which it hugely impacts on my eating & headspace (Today was one of them, but tomorrow is a new day & a continuation of the journey of ME!!)

I am now all fired up & back on program to knock off the last leg of my weightloss & get myself onto refeed.

Wish me luck & I am sure that you will be hearing a lot more from me in the near future. Next weigh in Wednesday 1st March & so far I have sabotaged the downside movement of the scales, but have all week to try my hardest to make amends.

Talk to you soon
Sharon

Hi Again,

I'm just testing out my ticker and even felt a little clever and have tried to add a picture too. Don't know how that will go.

Chookie, glad to hear that you have also appeared. Yes, it took me a while to read through all of the posts but it is certainly well worth the effort. I know exactly what you mean about 'headspace'. I think it affects all of us!

When I started Cohen's back in October 2005, I set myself the initial goal of losing 20kgs before my 30th Birthday (which is next week). So I am only .9kg away from doing that. Hopefully at my weigh-in next Tuesday I'll achieve it. My next goal will be to lose another 20kg by June, so then I can try for #2 little darling (I have a nearly 3yr old son... have had two misscarriages trying to conceive #2 so I'm hoping that some weight loss will help).

It is easy to look at the fortnightly/monthly losses and to be disheartened, but you need to keep taking a step back every now and then and take in the big picture. When I fall of the wagon (which I've done a lot recently) and get down on myself for doing so, I take a step back and see how much I've lost in total and tell myself that I can do this, will do this, and continue to do this.

I hope you are all losing happily!!!!

Hello Everyone & welcome to all the new faces :)
Day 2 of the refeed for me today. I dropped 600gms overnight which makes that the biggest weight loss I've had in ages. I am not getting my hopes up however, but have to admit it's nice to see a drop first up.
Today I had to add 60gms protein and 40 grams vegies to my allowance. Again like last night I simply could not finish the meal. It seems to huge compared to what I am used to now that I am in panic mode a little. The upside is that I got to have another piece of toast (had it at dinner instead of breaky today) and a plum.

Tomorrows plan is similiar, but I have to add more vegies.

Pinkvirgo - Don't be disheartened - have you measured yourself? My weight loss was incredibally slow through this whole diet, but my body is now totally different. Don't forget your body is probably still in shock!

Jen - You're in good company - none of us can keep off the scales!

Kim_j01 - I think my starting weight may have been around 77 kilos (maybe more). I was using a set of older scales when I started and upgraded half way through and there was a 4 kilo difference then. I am currently 62.6 kg. Cohens set my goal weight as 59-61 and I started the refeed at 63.2kg. Quite happy where I am (now a size 8 - 10) although I would be thrilled to get to 60kg so that I have a small buffer.

I am loving the Biggest Loser, but I was sad to see Dave voted off, although I can understand why they did it. He is looking fantastic though! My favs so far are Adro and the girl with the 5 kids (can't remember her name!).

Keep up the great work girls (when are we going to get a fella in here?)

Myshy

PINKVIRGO - 500gms wow. Did you ask your consultant if the whole not eating for 16 hrs might of stuffed things up? still you'd think it would increase weight loss ... does not make sense really considering you've stuck to the diet 110% ... i think nat had some stuff about crackers a few posts ago ... i think by altering them or something it can bump up weight loss etc ... still i feel for you sweetie. But at the end of the day it is a loss and well who knows your next weigh in might bring huge results to make up for this weeks short comings. Are you drinking lots of water?

I am back on the wagon today and just about to have my cup of lax tea which i find truly lovely to get the bowels moving. Mind you i need to skull the feral stuff. I am booking in to get my hair done next Thursday ... i am straight with blonde/brown colour at the moment but am going curly and blonde. I am going to meet my 70 kilos loss by then plus its my birthday that day too so its a present from my mum. hehehe.

Take care all. Xoxox

I have just been looking over a lot of the tickers on here and I really am just amazed at the weight loss from you guys. You all should be VERY proud of yourselves. I really do wonder how you stick to it. I often wonder if I will get through this and make it to my goal weight (especially when my work makes me go to the yummy bakery to get food for them like yesterday :(). What do you guys do when you think you can't do it anymore? Is there something that always been you on track?

PinkVirgo, thankyou for the recipe, I will definitely have to give it a go ! And yes moving my ticker is the best feeling :D

Myshy, wow toast must be so nice. What I would give for some toast right now! A size 8-10 as well...gosh I don't ever remember being that size.

Hi Everyone,
Well day 3 today of my refeed. I have lost 1kg taking my weight to 62.3kg.

Kim_j01 - although I am a size 8-10 it deprends on the make of the clothes. I lost very little in my bust so am still wearing a 14c in bras. I would say I am more of a size 10 than an 8. I think those have just been lucky buys :)
The toast has been nice, but its never the same without maragarine or my all time favourite vegemite.:D
I have found this forum the best thing for days when I feel I can't go one another moment. Even just coming on to read the posts makes you realise that there are others who feel the same and when you do a post asking for help someone will always reply. The stategies and tips I have picked up off the other girls have been what has kept me going and meeting some of them boosted me when I felt I had nothing left to give. Go into the chat room at night - there is usually someone there to chat to. Although I have cheated at times, it was nowhere near what I would have done if I wasn't reporting in here! Make posting a habit!

Sammy - all the best for your goal - not far to go!

Kayseysmum - where are you? I have missed your posts.

Joysey - I have missed your posts too. Not sure if you are still o/s?

Moni - you must be under the 100kg?

Cryss - Your birthday isn't far off? Is it this week?

Mel - I had a friend over at the weekend who is getting married in November. We talked wedding stuff all night! How are the plans going?

Nat - Are you going to order your refeed this week?

Have a great day everyone,

Myshy

Hi Ladies,

It has been a while since I posted so it's time for an update.

I had my second weigh in last Saturday and I'm thrilled to be in DOUBLE DIGITS :D My weight loss was only 2.52kg for the last fortnight which was disappointing but I have been sick and was in agony trying to swallow so I was only eating soup once or twice a day and was lucky to get through 1 litre of water, so I guess given the hicup I had it was ok. I've also lost another 20.7cm so even though the scales didn't show it I had a good fortnight.

pinkcandy - I'm 25yrs old, am 172cm tall and weighed 107.12kg when I started. Dr Cohen has my goal weight at 63 - 66kg so at the moment I'm aiming for 64kg. I'm breaking my progress into fortnights I only get weighed once a fortnight which is so hard sometimes, but I have no scales at home cos I know if I didn't see a reduction each day then I would give up.

PinkVirgo - I'm sure your loss will be huge next week and even 500gms is in the right direction. I only just managed to scrape through our monthly challenge and was hoping to have lost more than 7kg in my first month but I'm ready to roll for the next 4 weeks.

Myshy - I miss vegemite too, I love the stuff and can't even stand being near anyone who is eating it - it drives me crazy and then it's all I crave. Does it come up in the refeed?

I'm so pleased that everyone is doing well, stay strong and keep up the good work.

blula :)

If ive forgot anyone I didnt mean to, love yas all STAY STRONG AND BE TRUE TO YOURSELF ONLY YOU CAN DO IT.
Hugs to you all Chez xxxxxoooooxxxxxx

hi

well... not so happy today. got a letter from the clinic and they said my 1-year contract is up... so i can't order my refeed. what do i do?
they've given me the choice of starting again with a new program, another $680. if you have less to lose, do i get to eat a bit more? how does it work? what should i do???
i still have to get to 65, but i've set it at 70. so i've got about 15kg i guess approximately. i really really want to finish and be a skinny minnie!!
any suggestions?
congrats BLULA on teh double digits
MYSHY, refeed sounds like it's going really well, spech the big loss too!!
stick with it, PINK VIRGO, i'm sure you are losing and then you'll have a huge jump by like a kilo or something!!! i also work shift work, but the hours don't change drastically, but i just keep prepared. often i have breakfast and then go back to bed (the clinic said that is fine). i'll take lunch and dinner to work some days, and as long as you have your last meal apparently 1.5hrs before bed, that is fine too. not sure how this works with you, but good luck!!
anywya, i've got some decisions to make now
lis
