Hi Gals

Lizzi- thanks for checkin in on me! My weight loss has stalled at the moment... but hopefully it will jump start again soon and then I can start refeed.

Kim_j01-- Welcome and congrats on receiving your plan. As far as the water thing goes, we all have a way that 'works' for each of us and its a matter of trying them out and seeing which works best for you.
I personally fill up 3 one litre bottles each morning and aim to finish them in selected time frames. For example when I am working I aim to finish my first litre by 1pm and my second by 5pm and then the third litre is for when I get home. I worked out that if I can drink 1L every four hours thats effectively one glass every hour- which doesnt seem like such a mammoth task.
Also start taking a water bottle with you EVERYWHERE when you leave the house, that way you dont get home from being out all day and have to 'catch up' on your water comsumption.
Good luck for Sunday!

Nat :)

Hey guys,
The only problem I think I may have is getting through all of the water. Any suggestions? I look forward to giving you guys updates on my weight loss !

Start early and just keep going, I do 2 x 750ml Pumps before 10am (I do on on the way to work) and the other with my first coffee. That starts the ball rolling, you actually just start feeling thirsty and after a week of 'force' drinking, you just do it.

Don't make up for it at night, other than sending you to the loo constantly all night it does impact weight loss.

Good luck starting Kim.

Hey Cryss,
Thanks for the advice, is reassuring to know that I'm not the only one with skeptical friends!!!
Background info on me, Adelaidian 25yo single mother of a gorgeous 4 yo girl, currently at uni halfway through a teaching degree to teach primary and middle school students and majoring in Chinese.
Was 80kgs on day one of my program, the girls have said that my goal weight should be between 63-67 kgs, but I want to be 65kg. Hopped on the scales tonight (as just bought some flash new digital ones!) and, after day 7 on my program (and at night after dinner) am down to 77, will have to see what the scales say in the morning!! Am quite happy with that weight loss though and have been good not to cheat.

Water - I do the same as Cryss, take 3 bottles with me and drink them in blocks, then I feel like I've accomplished a 'task' each time I finish one.

Also, does anyone know what the deal is with soy sauce, I went to use some, but it wasn't mentioned in my program, I would have thought that it would be mainly made up of salt. Any ideas? Would a splash hurt in a stir fry? Mixed it with some water and artifical sweetner for a 'honey' soy stir fry, was bloody good, but don't want to use it again if it's 'cheating' 90

Thanks for all of the great advice girls. I'm so excited about Sunday... I'll let you all know how it goes !

Hello dear friends

Hi shrinking ladies,

How is everyone going this week? Good to see new people joining all the time. Welcome aboard and good luck with your programs. It really works if the program is followed 100%.

Cryss: congratulations. You have cracked the 50 kg and now have under this to go. You are truly on the way and going strong. Keep it going.

Myshy: A size 8 to 10 - what an achievement!!! I bet shopping for clothes must be so much fun. :D Good luck with your refeed. Just look forward to when you will be finished and able to eat and enjoy ANYTHING. In moderation of course.

Divinemissnat: hang in there gorgeous girl as you will soon get to do that refeed like Myshy and get it all over with. How exciting!!!!

To all I hope you have a great and on track weekend.

Yep.. New Gal on the block!!

Hiya Guys!!!

I am so happy to have found you all !! :) Thank goodness for Google! :D

Will be getting my Cohen's program next Friday.....AM SO EXCITED. :) :) :)

I don't know any of you guys yet, but GEE WHIZ am I ever proud of you all!! You're such an inspiration to newcomers like me! Reading the posts here has just been amazing, - such spirit, will & drive!

Stat's time!! - Mummy of 1 gorgeous child and wife of the best man & father I could have ever wished for! I have lost almost 30kg but I have had no luck getting rid of the last 10kg that would put me in the 'healthy range' I should be in. My family has heart problems (all due to obesity) -I don't want to join that queue.
I am at present 64.5kg My goal weight has been worked out to 55kg. 9.5kg to go!!!!!! It will move!

I have 3 friends who have had EXCELLENT results with the Cohen's program, watching them lose weight & gain health was awesome. They have given me the courage/strength to help myself. I am so proud of those girls as I am of you guys too! Look forward to chatting with you all & hopefully giving & receiving some support.

This next week can't come quick enough!! Please take care :) XX

Water Maths

Hi all,

Was browsing the latest edition of Slimming and I just had to share this little bit of info. Very interesting.....

To work out exactly how much water you should be drinking, multiply your weight in kilos by 0.003 and you'll get your own personalised water requirement,
eg 70 (kilos) x 0.033 = 2.31 (litres).

i CaN i WiLL: Welcome, you are among friends here and the support is fantastic. Congratulations on your weightloss. You have come a long way and soon you will be at goal. :D

Have a good night all.

Hi everyone, i have been lurking and reading the posts for a while and have now joined up and received my program today and start tomorrow. I am certainly impressed by the weight others seem to lose and hope it all works as well for me. This forum is great and I think I amy become addicted to it! Cheers Jen

Hi Rajah

Thank you for your kind welcome! :) and for posting info about working out the water intake for your weight, much appreciated!!

Thanks for being my "first" on the post!! ;)

Welcome to all the newbies and hello to all the oldies

And everyone in between.

So this week has been another corker for me in the loss department and extremely trailing in the temptation department with 3 out of 5 days catered lunches and afternoon teas at work! But you will all be pleased to know I came through the other end unscathed and with a loss!

Water is the key, drink a minimum of 3 prescribed liters and more if you can, start early, and don't try and make up for it at night.

I have 2 really tough situations coming up over the next week, I have a milestone birthday on Thursday night, we are all going to a BEAUTIFUL restaurant in Melbourne to celebrate, so I'm in a bit of a quandary there, and then the next morning we fly to Bris-Vegas to stay with some friends over the weekend, So I'm pretty sure I can survive the weekend, to be honest it's the birthday dinner thats the biggest worry. I can't see myself 'pigging out', but there may be a sip of wine and something sweet. What do you all think? Love to get some feedback and suggestions around my dilemma(s)!

Well off to update the ticker! (becoming just as addictive as weighing in!)

Dilemmas!?

Hey Cryss,
I understand the dilemmas - and I sympathise.
I had a birthday myself this week. Not being able to celebrate with food and a glass of wine is SO SO SO BORING!!!! And it's anti social.
I survived in tact. And I am pleased.
I look at it this way. What I am doing for myself now, ensures that I have many healthy birthdays - and that I am healthy enough to enjoy them guilt free, God willing.
It is deprivation now, but next year, and every other year ... look out because here I come.
I WANT THIS. And I know you have struggled to get the control. Tell everyone ahead that this is your present to yourself. That it means something to you, that it is special to you. And give them permission to enjoy what they want on your behalf. I even choose something I can't eat and say TRY THIS FOR ME. Sometimes it is enough to look. Not everyone can do this. So I understand.
I did a course a few years ago that taught me not to be afraid of food, and to make choices without feeling deprivation. It was a brilliant course, but I didn't lose any weight - even put on some. Still it was worth it because it helps now.
Not an easy one Cryss, but you have fought so hard to do this. Try not to sabotage yourself with faulty thinking. You will not be happy about yourself in the long run, so where is the 'happy birthday' in it for you?
Good luck with your choice.
Lizzi

DAY 4 still going strong

Thought I'd pop in before heading off to do my shopping and go to the beach. Today is my 4th day and i am in total shock really ... I'm down to a clear 71.5 kilos this morning ... thats a 3.5 kilos loss and i am loving that. I even tested my willpower. My Mum was down from the country yesterday and was going to dinner (at the best chinese resturant ever) w my sister and her boyfriend .... so i went and all i had was a glass of diet coke and felt no desire to eat (although they ordered all my favourites :( ) but they get what i am doing so there was no pressure and it was nice to put some of my nice clothes on and find they were lose in the tummy area and mum said she could tell i had lost weight which was good...wait till she sees me next weekend.

CRYSS - argghhhhhhhhhhhhh is all i can say ehehe. Is it possible to get a copy of their menu ... that way you can have a squiz and see what is on your "yes" list and be able to walk in confidently order your "Cohens Approved Meal" and maybe if you feel you need to drink alcohol why not have a sprit zero with vodka and a few slices of lemon on the side ... when u get your drink squeeze in the lemon and even add some sweetner ... otherwise just skull a heap of water before you get there. I am sure you will do fine ... last nite when i left that chinese resturant i was so happy becuase i felt like i had really tested my willpower and passed. Let us know how you go.

MySHy : OMG size 8 whooooooooohooo ( am doing the happy dance ) i am so thrilled for you sweetie. I cannot wait to be a size 8 - 10, i have decided to start buying clothes in the smaller size, clothes that i'd wear if i was thinner. And there are heaps of sales at the moment so i've managed to grab a few bargains. I am so impressed by you babes. you must feel amazing. And goodluck with the re-feed .......... yumm.

JUST A QUESTION : I am blessed w a big old arse and larger thighs than my top bit (i always lose weight top half first) and was wondering will i see my weight drop from these trouble areas?

WELCOME NEWBIES. You have come to the right site my lovelies.

LOVE ME xoxox

Welcome

Great to see new people starting. enjoy the journey, you are in for a ride, and the end result will be spectacular. So go for it!
pinkcandy: great to see you able to handle your family outing. Good for you. Isn't it rewarding when you do?
As for how the weight drops off, it is different for each person. However, these are the things I was told. Basically the main weight loss goes from the top of the body to the lower body. And back of the body before the front. Now there is loss all over, and it is a very individual thing, but I was told that the last bit of the estrogen areas like the last bits of bust and stomach, hips, will be the last to go.
For me, it is as if there is a sculptor inside the body carving out where the body lines and curves should be, and I begin to see the shapings in an area of the body. The lumps of fat on the outside of that in every area of the body, slowly become smaller.
Having said that, my scalp was tighter straight away. My shoe size went down very quickly. I have lost weight all over, but what I have said here is the way it has happened for me, just like I was told. Certainly I am a different shape now than the last time I was at this weight. Smaller on top and larger on lower part of body. But my bottom is definitely smaller in comparison to what I expected.

Good morning to you all (but I guess it's now afternoon for all you over east!)
Thank you so much for the warm welcome. It's great to have someone to come to. I've decided not to tell people that I am doing this program (even my husband!), as I think it would just be easier without them butting in - if you know what i mean. And I figure I'll have all the support i need from here!
Well, I don't get my program until Wednesday, so I'm just waiting - which is hard!! Is there anything I can do to be more prepared?

Big pats on the back to you all - and have a great weekend!

hello to all you shrinking ladies......

what went first?

my bum, hips, thighs and tummy. Where would I like to see some movement at the station? My belly and back.

I have to tell you the most awful thing about being big is BACK FAT! it's disgusting!

Maybe I'll think of shinking back fat at my birsthday dinner!

stay good, hey moni has the post man been yet?

The JLo Syndrome....

Hey everyone! Hope all is going well and we are all enjoying the ride on the wagon... please refrain from dangling any body parts over the sides and PLEASE do not attempt to alight from the wagon until it has come to a complete stop!! Hahaha :p

PINKCANDY - I am, like yourself, blessed with a larger bottom half than top half - yes, the JLo Syndrome as I like to call it. ( I often have to buy two sizes smaller for my top half than my bottom half, provided the size fits my boobs, as I was blessed with nicely sized ones of those too! ). In my first 2 weeks I've lost just over 5 kilos. Honestly, if it's dropped from anywhere it's been from my outter thighs and my hips. I can tell this not only visually but also by how my pants are now fitting me. Having said that though, I have still lost some from my arms, tummy, face, etc. I can tell you one thing for sure that my consultant told me ( and it wasn't just to me, it was in the presence of another lady who does not have JLo Syndrome, but was larger around the middle - so I know it wasn't just 'for my benefit' that she told us ) .. and that was that the Cohen's diet often ( or should ) corrects the 'pear' shaped body. Which is you and me. So from what I was told, and from my understanding, is that once the program is completed we should have pretty much proportionate bodies. No more larger stomachs for those who carry weight there, and no more big bums and thighs for those of us who carry it there (which it was the female body is designed to do, so I look at in the way that I am a healthy woman in that respect).

CRYSS - I hear your dilemma and cannot offer any meaningful advice, except for what I would do in your situation. And that would be as LIZZY put it. Stay strong, resist temptation and tell yourself the real birthday present would be to avoid going off track and save up the 'food' celebration for the years to come. I think it's lovely that you are being taken out to dinner... but can I ask who organised it for you? Were they people that know you are on the program, and know how rigid it is? If so, perhaps they could have been more creative and thought of something else to do to celebrate your birthday that didn't revolve around food. Having said that, if you decide to splurge and enjoy your birthday, just be prepared to put in another week or so on the program.

RAJAH - Thanks for the water calculator. I did it for myself and I've determined I need to drink about another 500 to 750 mls more everyday.

MYSHY - Congrats on your refeed status! All the best and keep us informed of your progress.

To all the
NEWBIES to the forum, welcome and good luck with your programs!

I'm off for now. Just another 10 days to go and I would have completed a MONTH on the program! I cannot believe I've stayed committed and 100% devoted to the program for this long. I've never been this committed to anything in my life!!! Three cheers for Dr Cohen!!! :D

Take care everyone.

Hey everyone
I went out to dinner last night, it was mexican and i was pretty good. didn't have what i should have but didn't have anything with cheese or cream or anything, just had something (can't remember waht it was called!) with lettuce and tomato and chicken but afterwards i was still hungry, it didn't fill me up like my food, and i knew i hadn't eaten enough! so i'm lucky with that though, because i was worried they'd give me this huge plate of food and i'd have to restrain myself from eating it!! but i pulled through, minus the sangria, too!! which i could have killed for, but i just smelt my friends' glasses!!! what a knob.

anyway, down to an even 84 today!! so stoked about that.
i can't believe how well everyone's doing! it's so exciting to read, and noone seems to be falling off at the moment, must be something about this time of year, maybe it's just this middle week of feb!!! which is great and inspiring me to keep at it, so that's 84 now, only about 14kg to go!! i know there's some larger women out there that have more to lose than me, but i think after starting at 100 and then when i get to 65, that'll be 35kg lost!!! good enough for me!! so a huuuuuuuge congrats to you ladies who have more to lose, you're amazing.

also, i'm one of those people with no hips, bum or boobs. and so i'm a 172cm ball of fat. and it's awful. i would love to have hips and boobs and a bum!!! hopefully when i finish cohens i'll look a little more in proportion. i remember at highschool, going back 8 years now, i overheard a guy 4 years older than me say "look - her boobs are smaller than her gut". that was pretty bad. but true - i have no boobs!!! and on cohens, guess what - the first thing to go for me is what boobs i had.

so i worked out my water, thanks to that calculation rajah and i'm drinking more than enough apparently, so that's good.

well i've got 2 days off after today, so that's my downfall. hopefully i'll keep it together and report in on tuesday!! (with a shrinking ticker!!!!)

lisa

OH NO ................. learnt a big lesson today

well after such a big win last night and losing that 3.5 kgs ... i completely and utterly stuffed it all up. i went out with my bestmate for lunch (whom is blessed w a skinny hot body) and we had ceaser salads and then ice cream while we watched a movie and for tea we had chinese. so i really went off the wagon - i got my period yesterday and was thinking maybe it explained my sever tiredness and stuff but its not an excuse really. So i told her tonight how my diet worked and stuff and she seemed to understand ... so we are going to make sure we go places safe for me and when she cooks etc she'll make sure i can eat it first. so its all good.

however i feel toxic ... like i want to spew my entire stomach up. so i learnt a lesson about how bad junk food is for my system while doing this ... just imply comparing how i feel now to how i felt yesterday is a massive eye opener.

so back on the wagon tomorrow my friends and no more falling off for me.

My 'bigger' picture

July 2002 I began what will be my final weight loss journey. Lost 27 kilos using low-carb plan, but then had health problems. I kept off 17 of those 27, and it took until July last year before I felt I could begin Cohen's. In between, every thing I tried stopped working, so maybe that is why I am so determined to keep on track now.
It is encouraging that in the bigger scheme I have lost 51 kilos, and that is 2 kilos more than I intend to be at the end.
I am so looking forward to the rest of my life!
Moni. keep going, even if it slows down. Interested in your low blood pressure. I have been having a bit of that lately, which is the opposite to what was happening before. Has anyone else found this?
Also I get cold much more quickly. I always had warm hands before, but now they can get cold easily. I'm not used to feeling cold so often.
Well done Lisab for getting it right last night. Have some restful days off - the Cohen's way.
pinkcandy: So sorry you have had a bad day. It sort of wrecks you a bit doesn't it? Sounds like you have a good friend there who is going to support you well. I hope she also has a set of scales. So good when people understand. Tomorrow is a new opportunity to go forward. So with that in mind, sleep well.
