Day 1, week 3

Hey hey!

My ticker has moved in the right direction for the second week in a row, yahooey! I'm going to be so sad when it's stops moving so well :( Only two more weeks and I go for my clinic check-up after the requied 4 week blood test ( uuugh, am I the only person on this that seriously HATES needles?!? Truly, my family could not believe I was doing this when I told them I needed regular blood tests on this program! ) .

I'm sorry to hear about your clinic person giving you a hard time about your progress
SAMMY. Unfortunately I can't offer you advice with regard to 'falling off the wagon' so to speak, as I've only been on the program for two weeks... but I can say that no clinic consultant should make any of us feel bad for slipping here and there. Their job after all is to be supportive and help us in those particular times of need. Geez louise, if the whole diet flops and fails with just one slip up, they should clarify that in the first place. What I was told is that one slip up meant one more week on the program, not complete failure or decrease in weight loss.

KIM_J01 - Welcome aboard!! All the best for starting your program. If you need advice and tid bits of help and information this is the place to be. The people on this forum are fantastic, supportive and willing to give out advice at any time. I've survived my first two weeks by reading all of their stories, whether of success or otherwise. Good luck!

PINKCANDY - Good luck with the Sushi restaurant. I hope your friends realise you're doing the right thing being on this program and begin to respect you for your decision. And good on you too for getting out there and socialising - I've refrained from doing any socialising ( which could possibly include food ) just cause I don't trust myself!!

LIZZI - I might try your recipe for 'fried rice' - sounds like it could be delish!!

Speaking of recipes I must try to find a nice prawn one - I bought prawns for my dinner for the first time since being on the program.... yummo, so looking forward to them.

 Aaagh, biggest loser is almost on - I missed it last night and don't want to miss it again.

Take care all, let's see those tickers moving the right way ---> :p

support and wagons

Sammy, I'm going to address this as best I can and as calmly as I can in two sections ...

Hi Everyone,

I haven't written in a very long time, but I have been reading through all of your posts and gaining lots of inspiration.

I have been on the program for 17 weeks now and have lost a total of 18kgs and still have about 35kgs to go. I was doing extremely well at the start and didn't break for about 12 weeks and then fell off the wagon. Last week I only lost 300g for the fortnight and prior to that I had put on 700g during the fortnight. I was too scared to go and get weighed today because they gave me a bit of a dressing down last week at Cohen's. They basically told me that this is why they tell people not to break because if you do, you don’t get back on. I guess I was hoping to hear some words of encouragement and to know that this is normal for a lot of people and that you can get back on it and still lose weight. .

First of all do not let anyone 'dress you down', as mentioned earlier, not only are you a paying customer (and not some $33 WW joining fee either!) and secondly you are an adult NOT some pre schooler! Next time someone makes you feel like crap for being human, dress them down for being so insensitive and tactless. This is a hard enough journey for most of us, without the added pain and humiliation of some thoughtless and destructive comments from your consultant.

As you can tell I am VERY passionate about this subject, the lack of support and appropriate guidance we receive from some of the clinics is outrageous!

Sammy said:
Has this happened to anyone else? If so, were you able to get back on track? I've been having about 4-5 meals perfect, then having a meal off. I know it's not helping me and I am committed to getting back on track but I just have staff's voices in my head telling me that it’s all over now. Any words of advice would be appreciated.

Now about that wagon, I my dear am living proof that you can fall off, get run over, lose your wagon completely, hitch-hike for a while, finally get back on and not only stick to it, but find that wonderful place where, you know what you are 'missing out on', and it's not all it's cracked up to be, so now you can just get on with the job at hand, which is getting healthy and losing weight!

Make the decision, make your preparations, focus, and just start again, just because you have fallen off everyday for the past however many weeks DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU WILL TOMORROW. You do have control and you just need to see those scales moving again in the right direction to get your own internal motivation ticking over, we are all here to help, so ignore your consultants less that perfect communications style. We can give you more in a night that they will in a year!

Hi there all. I stumbled across this forum as I was doing a google search about Cohen's and you all seem like a great supportive bunch, so thought I might drop a post in. I have just finished day four of my program and so far am loving it!!! Is this normal??? I am finding that the structure for me is fantastic, although it has been a challenge to avoid eating out of pure habit -however on day two I managed to avoid eating any McDonalds when I was forced there with friends (who don't know I am doing this!)
Has anyone else encountered the problem of seriously skeptical friends? I know someone on an earlier post wrote that one of their friends think they are on a 'starvation' diet that couldn't possibly work. I find that whole notion ridiculous, the food is fresh, nutritional and in four days I've felt less bloated and ill than I have in months, with way more energy and frankly I'd pay any amount of money (well almost) for something this rapid and that makes me feel good! Any tips for convincing the irritating friends, or will the proof be in the 'pudding', or rather the lack of pudding?
Also, how much weight did everyone tend to lose in the first 4-7 days, according to my scales I've already lost four kilos, and have stuck to the program 100%, but am worried that this may plateau, as one of these 'skeptical friends' was quite adament that this was just my loss of fluids.
Anyway, sorry to babble in my first post, hope that you can give me some ideas. Have been enjoying reading the other posts so far.
Toodles :D

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Okay so this just isnt going well...at all. But first just want to welcome the new comers (SAMMY AND TASH) ... OMG cannot believe they did that to you .... you do not deserve a dressing down whatsever, your human we are pre-disposed to fail sometimes but boy it boils my blood when people pay out to others over this type of thing ... i am so mad that they did this - they should be sacked. The thing is as i am sure anyone here will agree - changing your life, your lifestyle etc is HARD, it is a constant battle and we all slip ... but me sweet do not despair or feel disheartened and lose sight of the big picture ... keep going, get back up on the wagon and start again...and hey as silly as it is, perhaps this little fiasco will give you some inspiration to get back on that wagon and show them who is BOSS ... still i reckon between us all on here we could get a Cohens Gang together and go sort em out hehehe.

I am really stuggling ... i went fine all day. I worked late and was feeling really horrid, shaky and light headed and in dire need of a boost ... which is bad coz i drove past red Roster on my way home and there i was ordering the stuff I CANNOT HAVE. I didint realise i had a severe sugar problem ... arrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh ... so i decided that when i have to do the same shift thursday I am going to take my tea with me.

So back on the wagon tomorrow ... will check in later. Night all sweet dreams from HOT OLE PERTH xoxox

Just Checking In

Hi everyone x

Well, I've been very much on the wagon for over a week, and I've been drinking 3L of water a day. So I'm nearly up to the 10kg mark! It's been a long five weeks but I'm pretty sure I can make it from here on in (hopefully!).

Sammy - that's awful what happened to you. As if we don't feel bad enough ourselves when we struggle. We give ourselves a dressing down; we don't need it from others. Especially people that are supposed to be helping. Even though it's hard, try not to let it get to you. You haven't ruined your whole diet. This is supposed to be teaching us a healthier life - and life has ups and downs. Anyone that will tell you otherwise hasn't been living it to the full.

Good luck girls with everything, keep losing and inspiring

x Hollygolightly

Hi Girls,
I spoke to the clinic today and there was a problem with the money being transferred so now she is telling me that I am "hopefully" getting it tomorrow and then she will post it. Quite disappointed to tell you the truth :(

Also, do they tell you what weight you should be? And do I have to go to the clinic for regular visits? I live almost an hour from mine unfortunately.

Hi Kim,
Welcome aboard! Your clinic should have given you an idea of your suggested 'ideal' weight, but this will be covered in your plan. If you would like a sneak preview go onto the Cohens site . and click on the weight calculator. You should alos take a peek at a few recipes to get your mind ticking over - some of the people doing the diet are very creative!

Sammy - in an ideal world none of us would ever deviate from the plan. Of course its prefereable not to slip up, but most of us do. Don't lose focus and never look back. Keep your eye on the big goal and do your best - nobody can take that away from you! (oh my god...I am turning into my mum)

Hope everyone has had a good day - my scales are stuck AGAIN......argh.

hey!

auughgh!! i'm having a bad time trying to post here!!! last night the comp crashed out on me (again) and today i tried changing the ticker and it didn't save my post!!!
anyway, i'm going well today. i have a new housemate and i think he's keeping me on the straight and narrow (subconsciously) !! i mean, now i'm not eating any kind of crap at home, and he doesn't really have any food to eat any way!!! but now it's hard to stay away from bad stuff at work, which didn't used to be a problem. Yesterday i had extra yogurt and a muesli bar. but today's all good but mannn i'm hungry!! i bought some new vitamins today so they should be good.
also talking about diet sabotage - last year when i was doing this diet, i went to the gym to put my membership on hold because i was working out and getting sooo hungry and then crashing the wagon!! so they told me off, said how it's not going to work, it's bad for you etc, etc, wanted to see the plan, wanted cohen's phone number, all this stuff, and i cried and cried right then and there!! and then they signed me up for personal training sessions!!! so it went from bad to worse. then i stopped going altogether, because they wouldnt let me put it on hold and then my memberhsip ran out. so that's my bad story :(
anway, damn that was long!!! hope everyone's going good, like me today!!! wooohoooooo

Legal Advice

Hi there,

Hoping someone out there can help me. My friend recently purchased a COHENS LIFESTYLE diet program off a lady on ebay - she paid $80 for it assuming it was an original but never recived it ... emailed lady and questioned if she had sent it and she said she had etc and that she'd send another one just in case - which never arrived. She claims its Renees fault as they got lost in transit and that it is renees problem she didnt use postage insurance etc - yet the lady clearly states on her site that it isnt offered. Seems weird that neither arrived.

My question is. Isnt COHENS copyrighted? So isnt tha lady breaking the law by sending a copy (as i doubt she'd have to originals) and more so isnt it illegal to sell this on ebay - thought it would be breaking some sort of COHENS guidelines.

Renee is quite pissed which is understandable. She paid for the item a month ago and 2 went missing. I was just curious as to if the whole transaction would be legal ... i was under the impression we were not allowed to copy them nor sell them. Any advice here?

Pinkcandy,
This should be referred to Ebay as they have strict guidelines on selling products that infringe copyright/patents/trademarks etc. They also have a section where you can report that goods were never recieved.

???

Hello everyone seems to be alot of new people.

Mel and Moni - haven't heard from you for ages, hope your both doing great.

Had 5lt yesterday but I might confess there was a reason and I loved it too.

Seriously I didn't lose anything this morning and i didn't expect to.

Ok about the Ebay scam, tell your friend to report it, although if she is successful she will lose $25.00, that is ebay charges for investigating.

It is a long drawn out process. I know- I've been through it.

On a lighter note, I know alot of people are taking craving tablets to stop over eating,I can't stomach big tablets and I rather not be stick trying to take them so - I have just received in the mail a packet of "slimist" its a spray and smelly sticks.

It's meant to do the same sort of thing stop the cravings and suppress appetite and help with weight loss, so I'll see how it goes.

Keep you all posted.

Hi Everyone,
I am aiming to start my refeed on Monday. I am 63kg (new scales) and can't picture myself sticking to the diet for another few months just to achieve another 1-2 kilos. I've struggled with every kilo I've lost so far and I would like a little bit of normality back in my life. I am hoping that the refeed will help me maintain what I have lost with a view to maybe going on the diet later in the year to lose a few more kilos if I feel I need it. I've lost over 65cm from my body and am currently a size 8 - 10.

Anyway, thats it for me - have a great day everyone, talk soon.

Newbie

Hi Everyone
Well, I came across this forum in a google search, and am so glad I did! I am due to get my program on Wednesday next week, and I'm so excited to be starting! Even more excited to have found you guys! I hope you don't mind me gatecrashing - but I know I will need support during this time, and after reading through all of your posts - i know this is where to get it! I am so inspired by how far you have all come - and how well all the new starters are going!
Bit of background info on me: I'm 24, live in Perth and have a 13month old daughter. Currently weighing in at about 88/89kgs. I need to shift the leftover pregnancy weight, plus the extra 10kg i was carrying in the first place! We want to try for another child later this year, but not until I am happy with my weight, as I couldn't bare the thought of getting even heavier.
My Cohen's Ideal Weight is 65-68kg.
I going over east to see family at the end of May, and I'd really love to be close to my goal - is this realistic?

Anyways, that's enoug from me - hope you are all having a great evening!

Bye

lou

Welcome Princesslou :)
I am sure if you aren't at your goal weight by May you will be pretty close to it providing you stick with the program. Congratulations on making the decision to do it. Lots of support here - I couldn't have done it without the help of these ladies.

Myshy

p.s I love your ticker! I went and had a peek to see if I could get one with Cats on it but they didn't have one! :p

Firstly hello Tash and Welcome!

Now let's all not kid ourselves, we all are aware of the amount of fluid that we lose during the first phase of our weight loss, however, after the first month on Cohens I lost nearly 12kg, I can tell you right now, that unless my size 24 pants were being held up by water! thats not all I lost!

For me the only way to shut negtive friends is to lose weight! Remain healthy by drinking your water and taking vitamins! and DO NOT BREAK in front of them!! The negative ones will endeavour to use it against you in some way, believe me, I know from experience. I'm not condoning breaking, but for gods sake if you have to, do it in private. Another good distraction for you is to not always bew talking about your new way of eating around them. Thats more so when they try to pick the eyes out of it!

Tash, stick to your guns and believe in yourself, you won't have to do much to shut them up when you are at goal and they are standing there with their jaws dropped!

How much do you have to lose? the ammount you have to lose will dictate when you should start to experience a plateau.

good luck and stay good!:)

Hi Everyone,
I have heard from Joysey who is overseas and wants me to post a hello to you all on her behalf.
It's snowing where she is!

Hi Everyone!

Still more new people. Welcome. You can achieve your weight loss goal. I look forward to your progress and you will get support from this forum.
Myshy: I was re-reading some of your posts and thinking how hard the last weeks have been for you. It is amazing you are up to refeed, and you never know what you might lose on it. Can't believe you are wearing size 8-10 already. I can't imagine myself in an 8 at all. I have been into some not too tight 12's before, but it was a long time ago. 8 sounds so small. Well done. So pleased for you. And tell us all about your refeed experience, won't you? Happy eating!! And I am so so envious.
I am only 1.53 cm or 5 ft, and my goal is 49-51. I expect to be at 49. I am sure I will need it.
Cryss: you sound like you are still going strong. Well done, and keep it going.
divinemissnat: How you doing? Refeed must be so close.
Glad to hear Joysey is doing OK. And where are you up to rjm? Back on before doing the refeed again?
Everyone give it your best shot. That's all you can do.
Have a good Cohen's day,
Lizzi
