Hi! I just found this website and am so happy there are so many others doing Cohens! I'm going to read the whole thread over the weekend. I've just started my 6th week of Cohens and it's going ok, but not as good as my first few weeks! I was very strict with what I was consuming and now I've become a little slack.

I'm 22 years old (23 in 2 weeks!) and my starting weight was 120.9kg. I'm now down to 109.4kg and really looking forward to get back on the bangwagon and get rid of the kg's! My Cohen's set goal weight is 62-65kg, but I really don't see that happening! My personal goal weight would be around 75-80kg. I hope to achieve that by the end of June when I go off to the US for 5 weeks.

I've read a few other posts about people asking for their re-feed early -- is that possible? Can you request it at 10kg early? I get the impression that my clinic doesn't offer that. Everytime I ask them about it, they say 'Oh you say that now but you'll get there' and tell me their own stories. I really don't want to be 65kg - I'd be very comfortable at 75kg!

Anyhow better get back to work!

Hi Gals and a BIG welcome to all our newbies! There are so many if you I'm having trouble keeping up!!!

Kaseysmum- good to see you on the forum again! I thought you'd been a bit quiet lately...

Blula- Congrats on hitting double digits!! :D You must be very happy!

Sammy- I know your clinic has given you the impression that once you break thats it, but if we think rationally for a minute, MOST of us on the forum have broken at some point, and probably most people on the diet have too. (My praises to those who dont) What IS important is that you do your best not to break because once you break its very hard to get back on. Forgive yourself and do your best to stay on track. When I want to break I tell myself, its another week I'll have to be on this diet-how long do I want to be on Cohens for???

PinkVirgo- your 500g loss, if I read right was in the morning after finishing a night shift at work? Have you considered that you've probably been eating and drinking water like most do in the day and effectively you have done the equivalent of weighing yourself at night? I have on occasion tested my weight at night and it is always more than in the morning by anything from 400g to 2kg. So maybe you lost more than you thought you did it was just an unfortunate weighing time? Also there are definitely some weeks that the scales dont move but you visibly shrink and others where you dont think you look different but the scales drop. Your body does sometimes need time to catch up. See what next week brings ;)

News from me- I have ordered my refeed this week. I'm not sure if I will start it next week or if i will wait and see what news the scales bring. I'd like to hang out till 53kg before starting it, but my scales are NOT moving and I will have to go away for a week or two with work soon and I dont want to be attempting refeed while away from my kitchen.

Have a great night all!
Nat :)

Just checking in ...

Hi everyone,
Haven't posted in last few days because things have been pretty busy. But thought I'd better now because I am going to be away from my computer for 2 days.
So glad to see that so many are doing so well. Good on ya! It's good to hear from all the new ones as well. You will be so pleased you are doing this. And keep posting.
myshy: thanks for letting us know about the refeed. It sounds like something I will look forward to. however I can't imagine ever not being able to finish eating those quantities, even after all this time, although I am sure I would feel full at the end. Can i ask how long your refeed is, because I know they are all different? It is so interesting in that each one is that bit different. I guess we are all allowed the same foods by the end of it. Must say I am curious about foods that are not on any list I have seen: my favourite things like avocado for instance - and yea, the vegemite! Also does yours say no smoked fish, cos I love smoked salmon? And you must be stoked by the extra weight loss after you tried so hard to lose it.
Nat: Glad you have ordered your refeed. I also hope for you that you lose some more during the refeed. Sounds like it is possible.
cryss: can I wish you an early Happy Birthday!!! What ever you do, make it a good one. Enjoy it heaps - with pressies too I hope.
tash: thought I'd let you know what I do to make gravy. When I have cooked something with yummy flavours, whether it is my protein or my vegetables, and I have used a non-stick pan, I like to take it out, then put a bit of water in the pan, not too much, ust enough to get the flavours soaked into it, and then simmer it for a few seconds until there is just the right amount and pour it over the protein. If you have used herbs, it gives it a great flavour and a bit of moisture to the chicken, meat, or whatever. I like it.
Sometimes I put my teaspoon of mayonaise in as well. Sometimes I put the mayonnaise on the food on the plate, and then pour the gravy over it.
It may not be thick gravy, but it can be very tasty.
Also someone was asking about coffee. The last couple of mornings I have mixed some sugarine into my yoghut. (I hardly drink coffee on this plan because I miss the milk so I don't get too much caffeine. Then I have melted some coffee in hot water and poured it over the yoghurt.) It was a bit strong the first time. I got the balance just right the second time. And this morning I also put some cinnamon over it. Yummmmm. I was also wondering about making a yogurt coffee?? but I haven't got around to it yet. Never the same as the latte or cappaccino, but who knows?
Keep going everyone, and I hope you are getting nice comments from the people around you as you lose weight.
Well, guess it's time to get my 2 days worth of meals organized because I am leaving early in the morning.
Catch you later,
Lizzi

I've read a few other posts about people asking for their re-feed early -- is that possible? Can you request it at 10kg early? I get the impression that my clinic doesn't offer that. Hi Fiorella,

I ordered my re-feed when I was still about 15kg off the goal weight that Cohen's had set for me as we were going on a family holiday, and I didn't want to be doing Cohen's while away.I had no problems doing this. I completed the re-feed in November last year and finished it weighing 75 kg ( I started at 112kg, and my goal weight was 57-60kg). The only problem was that I did want to go back on the program early this year to lose another 10kg, but I have not been able to achieve this. I have, however, not re-gained any weight, and I am happy with myself as a size 12. I managed to stick to the program for 1 week when I tried to get back on, but was so hungry that I just couldn't stick to it, so I went off the program without doing the re-feed again ( they say you only have to do the re-feed if you have gone back on the program for more than 2 weeks). This was a big mistake as I started to get the dreaded cravings again, and almost lost control of my eating. I am determined to NEVER go back to where I have come from, and I got some Chromium which has worked wonders and helped me get my eating back under control. I have just upped my exercise, and hopefully might lose a bit more weight by doing this, but if I don't , I really don't care.
Talk to your clinic and ask them what their policy is on ordering the re-feed, and make them give you an answer. I asked my consultant before I paid them any money, and she said you can finish the program at whatever weight you want. The only thing I can say is you MUST complete the re-feed, I think it is the most important part of the whole program as everyone who finishes the program without doing re-feed seems to put the weight back on.
Hope this is of some help.
Talk to you soon

Thanks for your detailed reply! We sound like we have similar goals. I didn't think to ask because I honestly didn't think they would recommend my weight to be so low! Next time I have my appointment I'm going to ask them to give me my re-feed early. Can I ask what clinic you go to? Or what state? I'm in WA.

So in theory, if I pay for the programme for one year, can I go on the refeed when I get to 75kg, then go on my holiday, then come back and go back on the program to lose the additional 10kg, and then do the re-feed again, all within the year?

Thanks :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY 40TH CRYSS YEEHA HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY AM GLAD YOU LIKE YOUR PRESSIE, THANKS TO MEL FOR ORGANISING THAT. LOTS OF HUGS CHEZ XXXX

Happy B'day

Cryss - Happy Birthday!! Hope you have a lovely day & celebrate in style. - Say Bye-Bye to the chubby 30's & hello to the skinny 40's!

happy birthday cryss!!!! hope you had a fantastic day, and no temptations!!! (that's the best kind of day i think!!!)

i did okay today, i think i'm going to start again, pay another $680 because i really do want to get to my goal weight.

as far as choosing when you want to finish the program, and order refeeding at any weight, i think that each clinic must be different! because there was no way my clinic was going to allow me to do refeeding more than 5kg off my goal weight. so yeah, best bet is to ask clinic when you start what their deal is.

as for the weight, it's stopped moving on the scales, but i'm not too worried because i'm still going well and eating and drinking cohens-style!
i guess by reordering a new program, it will be a little different, maybe more foood!!

anyway, i'm trying to get hold of a friend who might be able to give me some cohen-related answers as she is a consultant.

happy bday again, cryss!!

Happy birthday Cryss

Happy 40th Cryss. They say Life begins at 40 so you have everything to look forward to. Lots of happiness today and always. :D

One more sleep!

:) Only a sleep & a few hours between now & my program!! I am nearly busting!!

I have been away for business & have missed reading your postings guys! :(

I am so proud of you all, your so inspiring.... down to earth & encouraging. I have also been trialing taking water with me everywhere.

I was at a conference for the past 2 days & drank 2 and a half (1 Litre) Jugs which were set out on the table. I could see the looks of bewilderment everytime I reached out to pour another glass full...... :D I felt heaps fresher for doing that - didn't even drink the usual copious amounts of coffee!! :)

I'm almost nervous about tomorrow....... XOX

MEL - you are such a sweetie!! SO happy & excited for you - I bet you look fantastic in your new clothes!!!!!!:)

The Biggest Loser - what a powerful show. My daughter is just rivetted to the screen every night (as I am!!) I am totally in awe of Harry - what a guy, my heart broke for him on the first ever weigh-in. Can't wait to see the end result for all the red & blue's!!

I'll finish this post with a quote from Ralph Marston: "Your goals, minus your doubts, equal your reality" :)

Stay strong & focused guys, your worth it!

catching up

I am so impressed with the way you girls are supporting each other. Its so important. Today I told two friends about this program and they were both a bit disparaging. I guess its not surprising as I have done every diet known to man and I have lost and gained more times than I care to remember but .. what happened to support? Anyway I have decided not to tell many people until the results start to speak for themselves. What do others usually do? meantime I have just completed day 9 and the ticker is coming down. I am not really having trouble sticking to it. the hardest thing for me is the 5 hour rule. If I want a sleep in... I can't! That's a bit of a pain but I think its worth doing it to lose my weight. One strange thing I noticed, as I am a scales junkie, I weighed this morning after a wee and before eating and was 91.3 and then a little later ,I had my yoghurt and a drink ( or two) of water and weighed again and I was 91.1. What's the story with that? Weird eh? Keep it up everyone, we are ALL doing a great job!
Jen

Life after Cohen's

Question: After the refeed can I eat anything I like or will there be certain foos i have to avoid forever? If there is anyone out there who has done it and knows the answer to this I'd appreciate your input. I read in one post that you have to eat everything you are going to wanto eat again in the refeed. Ican't imagine doing this as I probably don't even KNOW what i'll want to eat again. Bing a bit of a foodie, there are so many choices!
Hope someone can answer. Thanks Jen

Hip Hip Hooray!!!HAPPY 40TH B'DAY CRYSS

Cryss - wishing you a very Happy 40th B'day, hope you enjoyed your pressie!!! Thanks to Mel for organising it...
Well girls been away on a short business trip, can't say I've been good but wasn't that bad either.

Anyhow I am really tired and need to crash.. Cryss hope you had a lovely day, sorry I am late- as they say better late than never...

Stay strong...

Kaseysmum ... missed hearing from you..

Hi Gals

Well, its here in my hot little hands.... My REFEED!!! Fresh from the clinic tonight. And I cant wait! I will be starting Monday. :)

My scales hit 54.0kg this morning. Admittedly it is the higher end of the goal weight spectrum (GW 51-54kg)and I am aiming for 51kg but I feel justified in starting refeed now that my scales have finally moved. (Also I need to make sure refeed is over before I go away for work.)

Jen/the old me- I pretty much kept Cohen's a secret at first, because I was afraid people might be unsupportive. Even my closest friends are sot told the complete story, I have been very hazy with details. Surprisingly though, the people I have told have actually been very supportive! But I have been very choosy as to who I have told the whole story ;)

Gals, I'm quite exhausted tonight so I'm keeping it short.
Goodnight!
Nat x
