Nervous

Hi everyone,
I am yet to start the program, but have been keeping a regular eye on this forum for the past couple of weeks.....

I went to an info session 2 weeks ago and I am pretty sure that I am going to join. I off off on a holiday at the end of nxt week for 2 weeks, so it was recommended I join when I get back, so that's the plan at this stage. Reading your posts has been great and has me motivated, I must admit when I read some of them about how hard it is or loss of motivation I get a bit dis heartened, but am realistic and know that's what it is going to be like.
I think that I have supposed to get down to about 60KG (dont even know what I am now - prob 90 or so) and that seems sooo much. I feel that I would be happy with say 70, but as I understand it, you have to reach the goal set for you before you can go on re-feed, is that correct.

I also know that I have some things coming up where I will deviate - I am being realistic here - it is for a wedding and during the same week I have friends coming from interstate and we are doing a road trip. I will try my best, but I know that there will be alcohol consumed. I guess, the way I look at it, that if I choose to do it, then I will lose the weight more slowly and have to accept that.

I have a friend who has lost 20KG on weight watchers but she has been dieting for most of the year - she looks great! but I just feel that I need the results to be a bit quicker (albeit a more restrictive diet) to keep motivated and I know that that christmas/new year period is going to be a tough time too....

I am very nervous about starting, but with all of you doing so well - how bad can it be :)

Anyway, that's it from me. I enjoy reading your posts and will let you know once I start.

Apologies

I think it should be a forum rule that nobody has to apologise for whinging!

We are all making amazing accomplishments.... diets and otherwise.... and sometimes its nice to vent our frailties. Just like its great to swim in our successes.

So I make NO appologies for saying that I am STARVING!!!

I started Cohen's today and its only 3pm. Slightly cranky, feeling very frail but hanging in there... JUST.

Wish me luck.

  • It will be worse tomorrow :(
  • It will be the same the next day :(
  • And the next :(
  • But then it will get better :)

Pace your fruits , crackers , drink lots of water. I suggest drink water a room temp as it is hard to drink lots of very cold water.

Its fantastic to have so many posts to catch up. Everyone is buzzing. Welcome back the Old Me.

more2go I was told that I could continue on my old program, and I feel perhaps the reason I am not as dedicated, is that after 5 months of strictness, and all the emotional upheaval its just damn hard. Everytime I seem to get my act together, major emotional garbage comes up. This year I've had big hassles from other people, which I inadvertantly get dragged into. I have been able to resolve things and new things keep coming up. It's bordering on the ridiculous. The other thing is health. I've had one thing after another over the last few months - colds, gastro, bronchitis, a sinus virus vomiting thing which I have at the mo. I'm not having a pity party, just stating the facts. I have always been a shocking sleeper, often only averaging 4-5 hours a night. I'm just thankful I dont work shift work, I couldnt cope. Having said all that, I need to find a way to stick this out when my back is to the wall. I know there are plenty of people who suffer worse and succeed, so it can be done, I just have to keep my teeth gritted. BTW I support ::dubschic::'s comment about no apologies 100%

Hi Cocobrandy, I was previously on the interim program due to my sugar level.. but i think the disappointment is the same... I was thinking why other ppl can go on the actual program and not me... But think about it.. if you go on the interim program and get your health back on track and than you start the actual program healthily, wouldnt that be better?? I have also taken 2 months to get my sugar level within acceptable level and now i am on the actual program!!! :D Dun be disappointed just becos you are on interim.. you will lost weight just like anyone on the Cohen program... if you wan can add me on msn and we can chat from there... Take care!!

yah initially i was so disappointed and kept blaming myself why my liver so weak lol.. but i guess i need to get back to my pink health before i can start anything.

but i am so envy of u all coz u all manage to slim down so much... i guess i am the heaviest here to lose weight *shrugs*:(

gal, go on the interim, wat matters most is the state of ur health, hehe, let's all go thru it together :D

im still kinda worried... serious... Wait i got liver failure how?!

cocobrandy

cocobrandy, rather than keep bother yourself thinking about it.. do what should be done and get your health back!! :) agree? I know its difficult cos i am also like that when i know about my sugar level.. but dun worry if i can reduce the sugar level and fornight can have healthy liver after the interim program, you would be able to... Something that Peter told me when I visited him "dun be upset, at least you are doing something to it" which i think its really true... Stay happy gal.. Lets get through this together!!! Let me know if I can do anything to help... ;)

Hi all. My comments about positive posts are a reaction to what appeared to be many people having good days and cm and kg losses. My starting point is to look for the positives. I totally agree that this is the place to find support and information when you need it including and especially bad days/weeks etc. We all have them. No apologies needed for venting etc. I am sorry if my posts were interpreted that way. We all learn from each others positive and not so positive experiences.:)

Hey beebee I don't think the comments about no apologies were in reference to yours or anyones posts, just a general statement. Don't worry:)
Particularly getting over the first 4 days was really hard for me...food did occupy my thoughts 27/7.-less fatty how do you fit an extra 3 hours into your day? I found your comments very helpful.
Poppy great to hear from you. If you get started, get over the worst of it ( few days maximum) and do it 100%, honestly it will be all good. Don't be disheartened when you read of difficulties experienced. It's like anything in life. Grab it with both hands and run with it. Don't look back. Many of us did extremely well without this forum, and now because of different circumstances, we gain a lot of encouragement and give a lot here. That's what this forum is about. You will get a wealth of information, and support from some beautiful people. Hearing the hard times of others is reassuring that we are not alone in our feelings, and obstacles. The fact of the matter is - we can all do this. What stops us is our doubting our ability, and turning to what seems to be the easier option, but in the long run, it makes it all harder. Human nature is to take the easy way out. You will be fine;)
8-2much congrats on the 3 week mark, soon to be a month. Well Done. Big thumbs up!!!
momma pajama 13 kids  - what a woman. I take my hat off to you girl.
Sunshine you are nearly there - woo hoo. Get your nails done as a treat maybe.

rewards program

Good morning everyone, I was just having my breakfast with you all (melted mozzarella, tomato, shallot and crispbread), and I had a thought, even though it IS a bit early in the morning for one of them LOL

so I was wondering, for all those of you that have been on the program for a while, and lost some good numbers, how did you reward yourself? Have you rewarded yourself yet, or are you saving it all up for the one last special treat when you're at goal and have done your refeed.

I was thinking about a $100 shopping spree (on anything except food) when I've lost 10kg, $200 spree when 20kg is done, etc, until I've lost it all (39 more to go). So I guess I'm paying myself $10 per kilo lost. I'm dying to go and get a new wardrobe of slim summer clothes, and of course, a gorgeous dress to wear to my wedding, which is just looming in the not to distant future.

I did myself up a spreadsheet and worked out if i can maintain a loss of 1.6kg a week I should be at my goal by Valentines day next year. And more importantly I'll only weigh about 75kg on the wedding day.

My darling hubby2b is on a fitness program himself and it allows him one free day per week. That was yesterday, and when I asked what he wanted for his free dinner, he asked if I was having a free day. "no sweety, I'm not allowed free days, but I have saved my whole fruit allowance for dessert tonight", so I got to eat 360g of pawpaw. Which I'm very happy to see that pawpaw is coming back into season, now if I could just find a ripe honeydewmelon.

Momma Pajama
Here's hoping that you can get your liver enzymes under control and you can start the program soon, it's good to see that you believe in miracles, cos this diet is like a miracle, especially when you compare it to some other diets out there. And a mother of 13, that's incredible, you must be an amazing woman, I can barely mother my 1yo dog. :)

asyoz
great work, 22.6kg in 9 weeks, that's a heroic effort, but don't discount that other 6kg you lost, so really it's 28.6.

more2go
I can totally relate to you, I'd promised myself so many weeks in row that I would restart MOnday, restart Monday, but I would always find an excuse to restart Tuesday, then Wednesday, then the next monday. As ashamed as I am to admit this I used to have on my signature Started Cohen's 23 August, but even then things blew up, and I took it off, and had my last ever restart on Wed 30 Aug. That was 11 days ago, and I haven't deviated once, except for accidentally having 2 meal 2s yesterday. I hope you're back on the wagon, and then you can dump those 8 kilos off, and enjoy the new slim you.

lessfatty
You are like the wise old man on this forum, but not so much on the old :)
It's good to see that you question things, and can answer other peoples questions so well, and with such great advice.

Poppy
welcome to the forum and to Cohen's. Just a tip when you need to deviate, don't go all out, just eat what you need to give your body some food, and as hard as it may be, try to keep them within the vegetables and meats allowed on the diet. I am the former queen of deviation, and after one small deviation I was usually diving into pizza and chips and chocolate. Also, you'd better prepare your friend on WWs that you'll soon be overtaking her in the weight loss game, cos it won't take you 9 months to lose 20kg.

well that's enough from me for one morning, I have to go and vote today, and then we're going to go car shopping.

don't go there

Phew! This is quite a read. I had never heard of Cohens before, but I am going to check this out!

Is this a diet pill, if it is don't go there. I was adicted to Duramine years ago which does the same thing. Once you get off it, watch out you feel tired you want to eat and it is really hard getting off them as you feel that you can not maintain your weight without pills.

Once you get through a week of dieting on Cohens you are not hungry as the hormones trick your mind into thinking that you are not hungry.

One thing that doesn't seem to change - this forum is filled with people who are all doing their best to achieve their goal - and happy to encourage others along the way. Well done to each of you!! You will get there if you stick with it. Just believe in the possibility and stick it out. If you have hiccups along the way, just let it pass and continue on. The day will come when you are celebrating your goal, and a new healthier life. Good on you all!!!

My refeed is ordered. And then all I have to do is decide when to start it. Can't wait for it to arrive. But I expect after this one, I will only have 3 weekends to go before I am on refeed. And 2 refeed weekends before I am finished. No matter what, I have my cut off point and I can't wait!!

Began 9th July 2005 … To end 20th October, 2006

Checking In

Hi Y'all!

Nothing new to report for me... haven't weighed myself in a few days so I'm not sure if there's been any ticker movement... I'm trying to stay off the scales so that my losses look bigger! Oh well, whatever works I guess....

To answer your question BAM about how long it has taken me... I started on 18 Feb 2006... so that means it has taken me one week shy of 7 freakin' months to get here!! (can you sense the frustration?) BUT, i'm far too close to go givin' up now. The losses have been MUCH slower now that I'm down at the business end of the diet. And also, I don't have a thyroid, therefore I don't have the capacity to increase my metabolism like other people do - my metabolism is in a pill that I take every day. And often times when people start losing weight, it kick starts their metabolism and they have a rapid loss. So i'm one of the slower ones like Netski and Lizzi...

Speaking of which, Lizzi, do you have to pay to get your refeed because it has taken you more than 12 months to lose the weight? I don't think it's going to take me quite 12 months (feels like it!) but I was just curious...

And L-Jay, I'll definately go get myself a manicure... I just have to grow back the ones that I gnawed off! I'm glad you're back on the wagon and getting yourself ready for summer!

Hang in there ::dubschic::... the first week is CRAP... but I can't wait to go clothes shopping with you! And eat one of those life changing brownies in front of you like you did to me :p (hopefully it won't change my life and put me back to where I was on 18 Feb this year!)

Ready To Lose... WHERE ARE YOU? Probably on your Queensland holiday? I just wanted to check up and see if you're still going to beat me to goal!

Right, there's vacuuming to be done.... See y'all when the ticker moves.

Feeling Good Today

Hello there! I am feeling SO MUCH BETTER today, and its all thanks to you guys (and my fantastic hubby). I was feeling very frustrated yesterday - thanks for letting me vent.

Thank you so much for all your words of encouragement and advice, it really, truly has helped me. You guys are just the greatest. I have had a really great Cohen's day. Day 1 is down!! Weight loss, here I come!

Wow, lots of posts to read. Welcome to all the new people.

Poppy - Please don't be disheartened about my comments. I was having a really down day. This Cohen's program is just fantastic and really works - I have no doubt that you will do superbly. You have joined a great forum - all these guys are so encouraging and they offer lots of inspiration and good advice.

::dubschic:: - Hello. You'll do great, I am sure of this.

8-2 much! Thanks for your encouragement, you are very kind. 3 weeks down - good on you!

Lessfatty - I agree with whoever said it - you are very wise and always offer lots of good and practical advice. BTW, how do you manage to do 27/7!?! Please tell us. To answer your question, yes, I do remember what originally motivated me to start Cohen's first time around - it was a health scare. I was really quite worried about my health and because of this I started and followed my plan to the letter with no problems (apart from couple of deviations over Christmas/New Year period). This time around, I feel like I just want to lose those last 9 kgs that I didn't lose previously for vanity reasons. Basically, just to look a bit better. Very vain, I know! So I guess I am not quite as motivated as the first time round.

beebee - Keep up the great work!

Slinkee - Loved the idea of your rewards program. You are doing so well - and are going to look awesome on your Wedding Day. I bet your hubby-to-be is so proud of you - as we are of you!

Momma Pajama - Welcome, you have come to the right place for support. Mum to 13 children - wow, what an achievement!!!

asyoz - Great work. Keep it up!

Karol - You're nearly there! Excellent job! I have very similiar weight to lose (approx. 9 kgs) as you, although this is my second time doing the program (not because I put all weight back on again).

Lizzi - I love to read your posts, very positive, inspiring and uplifting! What an amazing woman you are. I'll bet you are looking just fabulous!!!! Enjoy your re-feed when you come to it.

Sunshine - Fantastic result - you're almost there!!! Keep up the great work.

L-Jay - You are such a sweetheart. Always offering lots of encouragement and positive vibes even though your journey has been very difficult at times. I think of you often and hope things become a whole lot easier for you.

dede - how are you going? We haven't heard from you in a while. Are you ok? Would love to hear how you are going.

Well, I must be off. Enjoy your evening and the rest of your weekend. I have had a great day, made even more enjoyable by watching my favourite footy team win!!

With love,

Julie :D xx

checking in

hello all,

just checking in with you all and letting you all know how proud i am of you all for doing the best you can with these testing times!

my re-feed is going well, mostly. Much to my disappointment the day i introduced bread wasn't particularly successful but i think we all know that bread isn't great for us anyway so no big deal. Blue berries went down a treat and i am looking forward to trying some pineapple tomorrow!

I am still losing weight too. Sue my consultant said most people still lose about a kilo or two while re-feeding. Much to my amazement i'm still shrinking quite a bit and i expect there will be some more shrinking to be done.

As my reward - i have signed myself up for a 100km charity bike race from brisbane to the gold coast to raise money for diabetes australia. i have some big training weeks ahead of me but i cant wait to give it my best!

have a great weekend- thinking of you all ( especially byebyeblubber) would love a coffee together soon even if it is just over the phone

Evening all, so many posts, has taken me about 1 1/2 hrs just to quickly scan through them. Great to see so many newbies and that nearly all are going great guns. To those that aren't quite getting there join the club, maybe we should have a special forum for those of us who aren't doing it as fast as the rest:D Anyway I guess as long as it's a small LOSS it's better than nothing.
karenk Hi, I'm also doing it with the BSN clinic, Karen, but live in Gelorup. She is such a lovely, happy girl who doesn't really push you and make you feel silly. But then maybe she should and it would be a faster loss, oh well, it's not up to her I guess, just me) Sorry about the derby:p (I'm a dockers fan) but still barrack for the Eagles (damm, they both lost tonight)
heavelylamb If you were given the list by your consultant maybe you could post it and we could all share it. Am curious about what is and isn't allowed on this list.
Princessoz Apricot chicken and curry veges sounds delish. Please post us the recipe.
less fatty Where do you hail from:confused: Is it Japan? Must grow some awesome fruit there:D Did you join your Cohen's clinic there or somewhere else? Are you Japanese or an ex-pat? Sorry for all the questions.;)
the old me Great to hear from you. I'm so like you. Still hanging in there and going no where fast. But WE WILL GET THERE. Just had 4 days off the programme but am determined to get back on it tomorrow.
lizzie Well done and keep it up. I see you have ordered your refeed with 6.6kg to go. I still have 3.5kg and haven't even thought about ordering it nor has the consultant mentioned it yet. Why do we need to order it so early or does it take awhile for it to arrive. I'm totally confused.

I am going for my next blood test on Monday and I know it won't be good results. Have just returned from my country week golfing trip to Perth and really although I tried my best not to over indulge and had the correct breakfast and snacks over that time the lunches and dinners were way off the beaten track. I did only have small portions and didn't have things like fried foods (did drink my fair share of alcohol though) so will definately be getting back to it first thing in the morning and loose that last bit. While we were there some of the girls went clothes shopping and they wanted to take me for a complete makeover :D but I resisted and said they could do that when I had lost all my weight. Don't see the sense in spending money on new clothes if I can drop another size, although I did have to buy new slacks to play golf in as I had to keep hitching my old ones up all the time.;)
That's all from me as it's getting quite late so to all "Keep up the good work"
Cheers.
