Hello All,

I've been absent for a while and have been trying to catch up on all the posts but just far too many to read through.

A big WELCOME to all the newbies!!!!

I hope everyone is doing well and staying strong.

I've had a tempting week but have managed to stay on track.
Met with my consultant on Friday and she ws impressed with my progress.

I had the best dinner tonight so I though I would share it with you all

I called it "cracker bolognaise"

Mince
mushroom - limited
onion- limited
zucchini - limited
lots of spices - garlic, chilli, coriander, paprika etc and a sprinkle of tobasco sauce
then I used tomato for half my vege allowance. I blended the tomato with a small amount of sprite and used this as my tomato sauce.
Mix all together and serve with a crispbread.

MMMMMM - I really enjoyed it and hope it helps someone who is getting bored with the same old food.

Thanks for the catch up tonight BAM - you are a real treasure - stay strong!!

I am so excited I started off my 33rd year on this earth in the 60'sss that is right girls I weighed in at 69.5kg this morning. I went through 4 decades of hard work through the 100's, 90s, 80s, 70s and now the 60s have arrived. I shouldn't get to upmy self but it feels great. For the first time in my life I am not ashemed to tell people what I weigh. If I keep to my plan I can finish this program off by the end of Sep early Oct.

Thanks everyone for your support.

Devastating NEWS

My man and I were due to start the program this weekend but our consultant called yesterday to say that Dr Cohen couldn't write one for him due to problems with his liver reading in the blood results.

They've been sent to our doctor, who fortunately doesn't think it's a big issue - he just needs to cut back on refined foods, no alchohol etc etc. All the things he planned to do with Cohen's anyway. But its a huge setback because we wanted to start together and be each others support.

I'm now not sure what to do myself... my program is on the way. Should I start without him, should I wait till he is given the all clear and gets his own program or should I give him the same foods as I have on the diet, just bigger amounts?

Hmph.

No Clothes...

Well what a weekend i had last week... i think i got the cleaning bug... Hubby and i rearranged our bedroom plus while at it we spent sunday morning going throu all of our draws wardrobes and everywhere and gave a hell off a lot of clothes to the Good Sammy's. It looks like we have no clothes left at all... A good thing i spose... but an expensive one!!! :)

Well it's thursday and it's officially my last day of work for 4 weeks... YAY!!!
I have tomorrow to prepare for our drive to melbourne on Saturday morning.... I am sooooooo looking forward to it... Hubby and i will be celebrating 7 years together on the 2nd october so might have to plan something while we are over that way... and then when we get back we celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary (however you spell it) on the 21st november... must plan something special again... then a couple weeks later my brother and sister-in-law are expecting their first baby due 16th december... they got married in feb this yea... I am soo looking forward to the next couple of months.... and by the time i have photos with my first niece or nephew i should be at a weight i will be able to look at the photos over and over again...

OHHH i went into rockmans and for the first time in 10 years i actually fitted into size 18 pants.... I couldn't keep the grim of my face... it was extrodinary when i went thru my wardrove because on our honeymoon i bought size 26 pants to fit my thighs... now i can put those on over all my other clothes.... totally excited i can tell you... so hubby and i have kept a set of our biggest things so when we get to our goals we can put them on take some photos prolly with us both in some items and the sit back and be proud of what we have achieved!!!

Well this is all from me!!! hopefully on my return from 4 weeks holidays i can change my ticker to the lower end of the 90's scale!!! :)

Come on everyone stand up and be counted as a winner!!! We can all achieve this!!!

Hey Tasm and karol you girls must be over the moon. And you both have every reason to be (and your hubby too Tasm). Revel in it girls. You'll be able to look in the mirror and say "Yeah, I am ALL that"
::dubschic: it may be a good idea to cook your hubby the same, but just more. That will make it easier for you, and he will be in the swing of it when he is able to start. Eating healthier well get him off to a good start anyway. He'll see your weightloss and when he is able to get his own program, he'll have living proof it works and I reckon thats one of the biggest motivations. All the best whatever you decide hun.
joanne I used to love Kangaroo, but once I had some and it was too strong and that put me off. I'll try it again one day. Your recipe sounds delish.
Princessoz well done for staying on track, its certainly paying off:)
Things are going well for me. I'm trying hard to keep off the scales.

I think Hubby should start with you right now!

Clearly bigger amounts of the same Cohens foods you will be eating is not going to do any harm in comparision to his "normal" diet.
Just to give you idea I'm a man of 186cm (6'2") my idea weight range is 76~88KG, my program calls for around 130gm steak 100gms veg; or 140 fish; 100gm veg; 125gm chicken 125gm veg, yogurt of 175gms. I believe that if he starts with you and follows along basically to your plan but with more total grams of food it will be OK. Everyone has the same foods , only the amounts and frequency are different . At the very least he can just go "cold turkey" on all starchy carbs, alcohol and just eat as much as he likes of just the Cohen specific food types.
-- Of course when his personal plan arrives just switch to follow that exactly and take the day he switches as the first day of the program.

I think if you start together and "get though" the tough first few days (depletion of glycogen, and then the body switches from sugars to fat metabolism) it will make life easier.

Thanks guys for the advice..... its much appreciated.

I think we will start together tomorrow based on Cohen's foods and I'll give him a bit more than what you are having lessfatty so that the detox isnt too much of a strain on his liver. Our consultant seems to think this is OK to do too.

Our doctor seems to think it will all be back to normal in a couple of weeks and has advised him to go and get blood redone then.
Fingers crossed.

ps. Oh and speaking of fingers, ....*Sunshine*.... get your digits out of your mouth! Now that I have my very own Cohen's program, I dont seem to see fingernails anywhere on the food allowance lists!!

Ticker Update

Hi Guys

Quick ticker update - only 600gm loss but sheesh, it's better than a 600gm gain, right? And with only 4.8kg to.... my god... I remember when my loss was only 4.8 and that felt good...

Hey, glad to see you back L-Jay... I have no doubt you will be near your goal by summer!

Great to hear you've had a loss ~BAM~... it's really hard being patient on this program, I know. Wait until you wake up one day and you can feel your ribs! Actually, the turning point for me was when one day, about half way through the program, i was doing a yoga class and i lifted my arms above my head and I couldn't feel my shirt touching my skin around my abdomen anymore... i'd NEVER felt that before.. everything had always been tight... and if you think a Size 12 is gonna feel good... wait until you feel how awesome a Size 10 feels! And believe me, it's not far away! When you get to the point where I'm at, you'll look back and think "sheesh, that wasn't so hard".

And ::dubschic::.. I guarantee you that my digits are well and truly out of my mouth! They look shocking and am repulsed each time I look at the ones I have gnawed and it is incentive enough to keep them out of my gob! Good luck with starting the program, let us know how you go with feeding the boy. Only suggestion I can give you is if he's going to eat the same food as you, make sure he eats only that and doesn't sneak any carbohydrates in because they'll make him really hungry.

How are you going Ready to Lose?? At this rate, I think you're going to beat me to refeed!

*Sunshine*

Thanks for your little message, it made alot of sense :)

Just a quick question... How long did it take you to reach the 30kg mark??..

PS- TICKER UPDATE!!!!!

Hi all. Great to see so many positive posts. It feels like everyone is excited with anticipation for each other. Really good vibes. Bam good to see the drop on the scales Tamz82 great to hear about the size drop. L-Jay thanks for the back ground- glad to see you are travelling so well. Welcome to all the newbies- AS I ALWAYS SAY - IT REALLY DOES WORK !!!!:)
Today is three calendar months on Cohens and I am feeling buzzed. I weighed myself this morning and have hit my target of 27 kgs lost. Unusuall target but this now leaves less than 40kg (39 infact) to go to reach goal. I will update ticker after official weighin next wednesday.
The wardrobe situation is getting desperate, went to kmart and katies today looking for some casual and yoga clothes. I could not believe the quality and styling I found for the price. It was almost fun and I was in the regular ie not big sizes area, very wierd. My head is still catching up with the relatively smaller body.
Over the weekend I had 4 meals out (fri sat sun and monday dinner). I stayed within the rules almost obviously weight would have been out, but protien and vegies were correct, except for one meal i had salmon-I dont know why but I did not ask what fish was on the seafood plate, it had mussells and chips (which I did not have) calamari prawns and fish and salad. I think what happened was I was a little anxious trying to find anything that did not have carbs, it was an Italian restraunt, when I spotted the seafood plate I just ordered it out of relief. It was also an unplanned meal out. Any way to cut the story short over the 4 days I was 700gms up in weight this has not happened before, so I got the tuna and brussell sprouts out for most meals since and pushed extra water down. It made a dramatic difference on both mornings I had a 600gms loss. Sometimes it may pay to go back to basics to get going again. The whole experience reminded me how finely balanced this programme is and that I need to work on strategies to deal with unplanned events. Still so much to learn.
Good Night all.

babyegg~

baby.. ask u something... previously u were on the interim cos of ur liver problem rite? my frenz juz went for her blood test...and found out her liver was very weak.. is it the same problem that u faced?

Weak Liver

Actually I went for the blood test and I got the results today. Peter told me that I cant start my Cohen's prog because my liver is weak...

He suggested me to go for a 2mths diet which is different frm the usual one and see how, meanwhile i gotta see doc to see wat went wrong...

Kinda sad abt it... wonder if there is any one who failed on the liver test part... motivate me abit :p

snail's pace at present

Hi to all my old friends and the many new people who have joined the forum while I lay low. I am still here. I am still doing the program but am struggling to maintain my enthusiasm despite wonderful results so far. So if I don't come onto the forum much , I am just battling my inner saboteur. I am planning to defeat her though and have every intention of re entering the race, so Gayegel, I am still in the running and it may be a case of the tortoise and the snail but we'll make it eventually. Race you to the finish anyway. Lizzi, I see you are there... almost. Brilliant, fabulous work. I always knew you'd beat me and you certainly deserve to. Take care, all.
