Hello All,
I started my weight loss mid May 2007 after having visited the doctor. I had borderline high cholesterol, and I guess up for consideration for meds. I asked if it would matter if we waited a year to see if I could do something about it during that time. Considering my age of 35, he did not think it would be of much harm and wait a year. I much rather not have to take any meds at all, especially at my age.
My weight at that time was 369.7. At 5' 10", the charts showed my maximum weight should be 174...Wow. I figured for the goal weight, I should have a little play room in there, so I just set it to 170. Not sure how realistic this is.
The way I am, I despise pointless exercise(Gym type stuff, whether in home or not). I figured my best bet would be to attack this from the food/intake perspective. I read up on Weight Watchers to see how the plan works, and started doing things the way outlined in the book. I went the pure points route, so I would not be limited to any foods. After a couple of months of this, I just stopped counting, having gotten used to the system.
Things went really well until about the holiday season, as expected. Slowly I must have started eating more, as my weight loss slowed and stagnated. I just recently cut back again, and seem to be making progress.
The one thing I really noticed was you do not have to starve yourself, but you have to be smart about it. I looked at those lean cuisine meals, and all that...but the thing I noticed was they do not fully take advantage of good food. Example, they do not use the high fiber / whole wheat pastas...Some sauces are fatty where they need not be. I can have what looks to be a generous serving, but be really good for you. I think the market has a lot of room to grow here.
In any case, I am down to 261.3 today, a loss of over 108 pounds. Will be interesting to see what I get to by mid May, and how my results will turn out. The doctor may be a little shocked!
Thanks, and I look forward to reading up on this community
