What's everybody's diet plan?
Cool
so whats everyones diet plans?
mine is to use weight watchers points system i am currently on 28 points and it seems to me working fine. I hope to lose 2lb a week, I am also currently taking a vitamin/mineral suppliment and drinking 2lts of water a day. Iam hoping to be at my 4th goal weight in august!
my exercise is using my exercise bike
For me the single most important thing is keeping up a consistent level of exercise year round. I never lose weight through exercise alone, but when my exercise level goes down (as it usually does in the winter) I
gain weight really fast. So exercise is the first and most important part of my diet plan. For the last few years my primary exercise has been biking and I've struggled to find something to replace it during the winter. Last winter I started ice skating, and finally made it through a winter without significant weight gain.
As far as actual DIET goes... the method that's worked best for me is a modified version of Martin Kataahn's Rotation Diet.
I start in the spring with a one-month "rotation" that ends up about halfway between the Men's and Women's Diet Plan (the Women's Plan is just too low calorie for me). I actually follow the women's meal plans in the book pretty closely, but with as much fresh fruit as I feel like eating, larger servings of meat and one or two additional servings of whole-grain carbs per day.
Week 1: 900-1200 calories/day for 3 days, then 1200-1400 for 4 days.
Week 2: 1500-1600 per day
Week 3: repeat week 1
Week 4: start at 900 calories the first day, then gradually add 300 calories per day until you reach maintenance level.
I must admit that I have never followed it PERFECTLY, but close enough so I usually lose about 10 pounds in the first month.
After that, I switch to a "sensible" calorie-based diet calculated to lose one pound per week. This is pretty much the maintenance diet that Kataahn recommends, but with 500 fewer calories per day. I try to keep carbs as low as I comfortably can, but I can't tolerate a truly low-carb diet like South Beach or Atkins. I eat lots and lots and LOTS of fresh fruit. I avoid deep-fried food, butter and dessert food but I do eat quite a bit of meat. If I bike 50 miles per week (or equivalent) I can eat close to 1800 calories per day and lose weight. At that level I'm hungry all the time, but not ravenous.
Sometimes I do a second one-month rotation later in the summer. It's usually not as successful as the first rotation, but it gets me off the plateau.
My goal is to lose 20 pounds per year. It's been pretty much working except for the winter gainback.
