M2M, Why do women always think it their husband, its all of us men. What can I say.

Well, I hate making suge HUGE generalizations - but I would have to agree with you ;) I was being polite!

My husband will come home with 5 cans of pringles (why? because they were on sale for a buck each) and devour each can in one sitting.

Same with ice cream.

I think for awhile, I felt compelled to eat "my share" because it wouldn't be there when I wanted it.

I now don't want any ;)

I would be ok with a container of ice cream in my fridge for a good month - and have to scrape the 'protective ice crystals' off of it ;) But breads, sandwiches, cheese, there lies my obsessive weaknesses!

Also, I've given up all diet soda, I have maybe one regular soda a week, and in the last two weeks, I've given up my coffee (with sugar & cream) completely.

My husband has noticed that we don't compete for the last cup anymore ;)

6.4 km on my bicycle and 1 km walking to cool down afterwards brings us to...

Have you tried to make some sour-cream dip (5-10% fat) with vegetables. Then you just put your favorite spice in some sour-cream and cut down vegetables in dip shapes (carrots, cucumbers, peppers etc.) and dip the vegetables in the sauce. Sour-cream with some all-round spice, some fresh herbs and garlic tastes so good its nearly a sin :)

Another idea would be cutting an apple in half, clean the center end drizzle some cinnamon powder on the apple and put it in the microwave for 2-5 min. Believe me you dont have to put sugar on the apple, it gets so sweet when you cook it like this, and the taste is so close to a juicy apple cake. If you want to treat yourself extra good, then try having some good vanilla icecream (without sugar and with little fat of course) with the apple, you could also use sour-cream. Just be careful of letting the apple cool a little after the microwave because it gets really hot. There are also some other fruits that are great cooked in a microwave. If you put some cacao powder on a banana and eat it with sour-cream or youghurt then it is very similar to a banana split.
Hope you can use some of those ideas :)

M2M, Your were being polite. If your husband likes german chocolate cake, tell him he has to try german chocolate frosting in his vanilla ice cream. You would not belive how great it is. Don't tell anyone one I said that.

You guys were all talking about ice cream earlier and I wanted to throw another great snack idea in for you...There are these little ice cream personal serving size containers, they come in low-fat and sugar free also, and each serving has around 100-150 cals and there are two servings in the container. I get these when I'm craving ice cream (happens often in the summer), because even if I find myself eating the WHOLE CONTAINER, it's still only 200-300 cals.

Troutman is going to get us there all on his own! You're really doing great :D

And speaking of that german chocolate, well that is *my* all time favorite cake - care to share the recipe, I'm bound to save up a few extra calories to spend ;)

ice cream

Lines - I didn't know those little personal size containers were 2 servings! Do you mean the tiny little bowls that sometimes come with a little wooden spoon? The ones that basically fit in the palm of your hand?

Hi Heidrun,
I almost missed your post - I must have been reading too quickly - Troutman talking about German Chocolate got me flustered ;)

I have never thought about microwaving some fruit, but it sounds wonderful and EASY!

I'll definitely give it a try :)

The thing I have found to be helpful when I hit a plateau is to change something in my nutrition, make a variation. It is a fact that if you eat the same things in the same amount for some time, the body adjusts to the nutrition and stops losing weight.

The thing that I think works the best to get that weightloss starting again is to increase my fat portion. I know this sounds absurd, but I am convinced that fat has a much greater role in weightloss then most people think. In my foodplan I eat the same amounts of the same category food (veggies, fruits, meat etc.) and that means I weigh everything!! so it is pretty much the same calorie intake day after day (1200 min -1700 max kalories). Soon I noticed that if I was not careful to include my fat portion (0.6 - 0.7 oz pr. day) then I didnt lose weight, even though I was eating the same amounts in the same category. The people on this foodplan have also noticed that if they dont eat the fat portion they dont lose weight, and it is even recommended to those on plateaus to increase their fat portion. I also noticed in the weeks were I ate a lot of fat fish then I lost the most weight. It seems that the bodies reaction of not getting enough fat is to save on the body fat supplies, because for him the lack of fat means a period with hunger, so it starts to save energy.

I know this sounds outrageous but the food I think is most helpful to get past a plateau period is sardines in oil (not drained), those really start the whole system and gets you off that plateau.
Hope this helps

check it out

I found this really neat little food and activity tracker you can print.

http://www.ndep.nih.gov/diabetes/pubs/GP_FoodActTracker.pdf

This site - http://www.ndep.nih.gov - also has lots of great info for anyone looking to prevent or control diabetes. Did you know a loss of just 5 to 7% of your body weight, along with 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week will prevent or delay the onset of Type II Diabetes? Imagine how much more effective losing to our healthy weight range would be! I apologize in advance if you see this post more than once. I am putting it in a few spots. :)

Thanx Lee. About 3-4 weeks now. It's very frustrating. My clothes aren't getting looser. They got loose and then I've been maintaining ever since. I have been slowly upping my anaerobic and aerobic routine too. I am counting my calories, fat & nutrition with Fitday.com. Gah. So I dunno.
:(

Thanks for the sites too. :) I'll take a look at them. :)

and um... increasing fat... o__o?!? umm... *is weary* you sure?!?!
