Weightloss Table

Woo Hoo!

I just updated this week's weightloss on the Weightloss Table, and at the bottom of the page this is what it said:

Best Total Weight Loss: 24 (M2M)

I know it's only because not everyone uses that table - but it was VERY cool to see!

congrats M2M!

Hey, M2M, that's great! You should be really proud of yourself. And your husband will notice before long. He won't be able to keep from it. :)

The Value of Support

That is a great idea. The key here is not to give up and to understand that in order to keep the weight off and give time for your body to adjust to the changes, yor goal should be a slow 1.5 to 2 lbs loss per week. I know it doesn't sound as much but multiply that by 6months.
When you hit a plateau, and you will, increase your metabolism by exercising
(at least 5 minutes 3 times per week to start) and try to eat multiple small meals in a day (5 to 6).

Good Luck!!

I think thats the reason most of us quit. We start a diet and it 10-30 pounds gone in one to two weeks. you think wow ill be done in 6 months. Then is slows and then stops. The only bad part about our weight loss stopping is that normally our diet stops as well. So i guess all we can do is kick our self in the butt and keep going. I dont look at it as short term anyhow. I have a weird metabolism. If im not working out like a marine in boot camp im gaining weight. so for me i guess its gonna be long term.

I totally understand what you are saying. I have in the last year decided that I can't just diet I have to completely revamp my way of eating and exercising permanently. I have taken since the The end of February to lose 16lbs but I have been keeping it off. If I had lost the 16 in like 6-8 weeks of really hard work I would probably have already gained it back with a couple of extra lbs to further pad my bottom. I have really been struggling with this new concept but it is starting to stick.

My weight loss goal is reallly long term. I unfortunately have not been making my mini goals which I hope is going to change tomorrow. My out of town guest is now gone and I can get things back to normal. Back to drinking my water, walking and eating well.

someone that dosent have a weight problem will just tell you "Eat less and move more." yea thats a good idea. All the nutrition courses I have taken way back when i was getting involved in sports medicine and nutrition told me the same thing. The only problem is most of us have eaten this way since we were kids. As a kid our metabs were like rocketfuel they could burn anything. then at 8 or 10 or 14 something happened and we started to gain. The onlyb thing is we didnt alter our eating habits and now we are paying for it. So all we can do is keep fighting and not give up....

Am I too late?

I just joined this forum, I have a bunch of weight to lose, and I was looking around for a group to join and this one caught my eye...am I too late to join in? I'll be nice, I promise! ;)

lines84, Sorry but there is one thing you have to do to join this group. That is you have to make posts. So your in. Glad to have you.

This is the way it should be, although most of us loose sight of it. We have realized that some people gaine weight easier than other because of the differnces in metabolism, etc.. and just like patients with diabetes and/or high cholesterol they also need to watch what they eat ALL the TIME, it is a lifestyle!!!;) and they need to follow it for ever or they get sick.
don't lose tract of the reason you want to loose the weight.

I think that is one of the reasons I backslide the way I do. I have so much weight to lose, and it's going to take a long time, and I don't want it to take that long! I want it off now! Then I get discouraged and start thinking negatively. And then I eat to feel better, but I don't feel better, I just get more depressed. And the circle just keeps going. That's why I'm loving this forum. It helps me to know that others are at the same place I am, and we're all in this for the long term. If others can accept that it's long term and a lifestyle change, then so can I!

yep

Yeah, I feel the same way. It is hard sometimes to keep chugging along when you don't have a lot of evidence that your efforts are paying off. I can look at the scale and know how many pounds I have lost, and I can put on my jeans and feel that they are not so tight. But, I haven't gone down a size, and I still can't really see a difference in my appearance.

That can get discouraging, but journaling and having support has made all the difference. I can look at my journal and know I have only been going at this since May 11. That's not so long. And I can read the encouraging words of new friends, and that helps. too. Jloredo is right - this is forever, and we just have to do it right! I believe our internal systems are already reaping the benefits of the changes we are making, and it won't be long until we all see major changes on the outside, too!

Oh yeah, 4 km for me...

278.9 km

Congrats on the 3 lbs!! It feels so good to be able to watch those numbers come down, doesn't it?!

I was originally setting my mini goals for every 20 pounds - now I'm setting them for every 10 so that I can get in to the next tens column - so right now, I'm in the 230's, heading for the 220's and then to the 2teens. From there, to the 205 bracket where for my height, I won't be considered OBESE anymore. It's a bunch of little steps!

I was a little demoralized this week. I was looking at pictures that were taken of me during the BBQ weekend before last that I talked about. On that Saturday, I had lost 21 pounds total, and was really feeling like I was looking better. Until I saw the pictures! YIKES!

So now I'm close to 4 pounds less then I was in those pictures. It's not much. Not enough for the camera to notice - but sooner or later, the camera WILL notice.

Maybe I'll stay *behind* the camera and not in front of it until then ;)

good job

Good job, Lines!

Welcome, Idohair - which for some reason I keep reading as Idolhair, and thinking you are a punk rocker! LOL

M2M - do you weigh once a week? I was thinking, with us being neck and neck, I might start weighing when you weigh and see how we do the rest of the summer. I could use the extra kick in the butt of a friendly rivalry!

Well...ok...yes, I weigh every day...I can't help it ;)

However, I only post my weight loss for the week on Saturday. That's my "official" weigh in day, I update my ticker and add the info to the weightloss table.

For me, the scale seems to help keep me focused. I had it buried in the closet all the years I was gaining weight, so avoiding the scale never helped ;) Now, I get on in the morning, and it reminds me where I want to be come Saturday.

This Saturday, I *want* to be at 230-231. This morning, I'm at 232 (unofficially speaking).

So - do you want in on the Saturday morning weigh in?
I can use whatever kick in the pants you want to give me!!
:)
