Weight-Loss Children of the Candy Corn

Weight-Loss
Alright ladies and gents....

I havent been as active in this forum like I had been for years, seems as tho life picked up and my dedication to health slowed down.

I've always wanted to run, and with fall being in full swing [almost] I'd LOVE to get out there and run! But....I dont knw how to start? How to mentaly prepare myself to say "forget what others think!".

Ive always loved running, I even have DREAMS about running [how lame right?] and have had them for years.

But maybe on you can suggest or give support? I REALLY wanna do this challange and stick with it, but I think in a few ways I need some support and ideas and to knw I'm not alone!!

=)

paperairplanes: i say... JUST DO IT!!! i used to jog, and then slow to a walk whenever a car would come, for fear that they would laugh at the fatty trying to get some exercise. but ya know what?? who gives a sh!+??? you'll more than likely never see any of those people again, and when and if you do, you'll be smaller! and besides, most people are encouraging and nice, and they're probably thinking guilty thoughts like "man, i really should be exercising, too". of course, there are the few teenage boys who can be cruel, but take comfort in the fact that they're probably just insecure about their acne and small weenies and looking for some self-esteem, lol. i assume that's what you meant by getting over what other people think... sorry if i'm wrong :)

i played softball for years, and i have dreams about it all the time!! i say, if you're missing it enough for it to visit you at night, you have a sacred obligation to get it back in your life!!

everyone have a great thursday, woot woot!!!!

PaperAirPlanes,

I also say do it! Running is my favorite activity. I love it, I love how it feels doing it, and I love how I feel afterwards. I started running months ago, when I was even bigger than I am now. I used to care what people would think of me, so I started out finding quieter streets and areas to start. But now I could care less. I know that I am doing something that is good for me, and that I should not feel ashamed or embarassed. And I have to say that the walkers, joggers, and bikers I pass along the way are some of the friendliest people! So if it is something you'd like to try, I encourage you to do so. I lived life too long holding myself back and not doing things that others did (both because of my high weight and because of how I may be perceived), and I refuse to live like that anymore. Go for it, girl!

I saw go for it too!!

There are programs you can look into called "couch to 5k". The main premise is that you begin slowly which is important. For example, walking 5 minutes, jogging one and so on until you're able to run 5k.

You'd be soooo surprised at how short a time it takes to get into and become good at running/jogging. The main thing to keep in mind is that the first little while will be difficult but if you can push through that and keep going, you'll be doing great in no time :)

goodluck!!!!!!!!!

Well it's officially weigh in day for me and I am 91.6!!! That's a loss of 1.2kg! I am ecstatic! My week started to trail off at the end but I have been drinking lots of water and exercising every day!

Hope everyone is as happy with their week 1 results as me!

Oh and paperairplanes

i think you should definitely go for it. Are there any places like a park where you could run without too many people so that you feel more comfortable? I have to admit I see plenty of people of every size running, both at the gym and on the street and I always just think good on them. Forget what other people think and just go for it!

Weigh in

Well i'm down 1.5pounds now weighing in at 139.5
I'm happy with that number.

Should be lower next week.

UGH I am only down 1 lb. I know it's because of my swell performance this weekend, because Monday thru yesterday I have been kickin butt and takin names, trying to make up for my weekend binge. OH WELL, that just means if i want to lose more, i will actually have to watch what i eat on the weekends!

hope everyone is happier with their results... and has a grrreat FRIDAY!!!!!!

Cazza and Ltbustle,

Those are great numbers because they are LOSSES!!!!!!! :-D. You're doing awesome!! Keep up the great work :)

I'm down 1.6 and I'm THRILLED!!! I thought I was going to gain this week haha

Good morning, everyone!

Congrats to all who have posted so far (and even those who haven't yet because I know we all did great)! Negative numbers are good in my book. >_0

I weighed in the morning and I am so happy! I'm down 3.75 lbs (I never trust my scale, so I weigh myself a few times and then do the average...it kept switching between 226.5 and 226, so I went in the middle :D )...it's great, but I'm not sure I can keep that up, though, lol.

Happy second week! :)

Hey guys!

It sounds like everyone is doing pretty well. Keep it up!

I sort of went into a slum in the middle of the week, but I pulled myself out of it and managed to lose a pound (my scale keeps saying different weights, but no matter what it has shown so far I've lost at least 1 lb!)!

But today I went to the doctors' and got bloodwork done. They took a couple of vials (not much) and told me to take it easy. I really want to get in my exercise for the day, though, but my arm is really sore. I can hardly type with the hand on that arm. Do you have any suggestions of some low-intensity workouts? If not, I guess I'll just do my normal thing but not use weights for the arms or maybe I'll just do abs today.

On Tuesday I'm donating blood, too, but I'd still really like to work out!

Thanks for any help, guys :) Keep up the great work, team. We're doing so well!

Hi Cheiri

You could go for a walk or just do some yoga or ab work - that's what I usually do when I want a low impact workout. After you give blood though I would pretty much rest that day - try and do some extra exercises on the other days or before you give blood.

AFM - didn't do any real exercise yesterday and haven't been eating that well but ill get back into it today!

Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

Ooooh my gosh!!!! I didnt realize Friday passed until I was at work this morning!! I'm gonna weigh in on Sunday morning!!

I got the water challange part down tho!!

Hahaha, PaperAirPlanes, your post made me laugh for some reason. Life moves too fast sometimes! Glad to hear you're doing okay :)

Thanks for all the tips, guys! I did abs yesterday, and when I donate blood I might just do that again or swim or walk, depending on how I feel.

I tried drinking water yesterday, and only drank 30 oz and THAT was a lot for me! Goodness gracious - I must only drink 10 oz a day normally. Yikes! Who knew drinking would be so difficult?

Hi guys

Bad news for me - I'm sick. Yesterday my ears were popping all day and last night i had an excrutiating headache and lots of pain in my cheeks. This morning I woke up and my whole body hurts - sounds like it might be sinus infection. So no gym for me today. I might try and do some walking to get some exercise in and I'll drink heaps of water.

Hope everyone else is feeling better than me!

update

hey caro.

sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. I was unwell last week which stalled my weight loss.

go team. we still have a few weeks to win.

Ugh! I'm sick too. Boo for sickness!!

How's the water going ladies and gents? [are there any dudes here? btw]

I've downed about 80oz of water since Friday. Not that great, but I'm trying to be more concious of it. With being sick here and wanting to be tip top shape for work Wednesday I'll be drinking plenty of water!! And eating lots of chicken noodle soup [or other soups].

Hi everyone,

Sorry to hear about those of you who are not feeling well. Hoping you feel better soon. I haven't been doing too well with drinking enough water since I started losing weight and know I should be, but have been trying to drink one 1/2 litre bottle of water before each meal, and it does make me feel full. Anyway, hopefully everyone else is doing well, and wishing everybody a good and hopefully successful rest of the week. ;)
