Good luck with your Job Interview.....and knowing you (as limited as the internet allows), I believe you will appropriately deal with the financial differences, and make the appropriate decision that best suites your personal circumstances.

All the best to you, young man

Welcome back Nae, I haven't seen you in a while, I might start posting a little more if you're going to hang around ;)

lol.. yeah, i got a little caught up in work and school. I finally realized I wasn't happy. my workouts were going to crap, as well as my eating habbits. so, i realized money isn't everything (hint hint) and quit my second job.. i'll be around a bit.. but maybe not as much as I was. I am usually only on at work and I got a little heads up from one of the IT guys that they were monitoring us because of my coworker streaming her live gospel stuff and taking up too much bandwith!

Ya at my old job the guy told me they were monitoring because too many people were using the internet and probably not wroking very hard. I only went on this site daily and nothing ever happened. This was back in 05.

I don't have the time to post my whole session today but I need some help on something

With the DB hang snatches, is my arm supposed to bend when the weight goes up?
I've been keeping my arm straight but if I were to bend it I'd be able to get more weight up.

I'm definately getting the hang of doing them now, it wasn't until the last set that I managed to get the explosive 'jolt' or 'jerk' needed to get lots of weight up, when I get that right the DB flew up rather than being pulled the whole way

Oh yeah, I also ripped another pair of shorts doing the snatches

EDIT: Please read previous post too if you know anything about correct form on DB hang snatches :)

If you didn't already know, I'm going for a job interview next week. The second part of the process is an on-line Psycometric test where you need to rank answers to establish a profile of the candidate's mental state

Here is what mine threw up, anyone think it's accurate?

Personal Style
Richard Daniels strives to make things better rather than simply accepting them as they are. He enjoys getting things done - sometimes at the expense of others! He tends to be disinterested in subjects for which he sees no practical application. Richard Daniels is seen by others as pragmatic, dependable and able to get things done. He is responsible and faithful to his commitments and obligations.

Hard work, busy schedules and merit-based remuneration are hallmarks of the way Richard Daniels prefers to work. He likes structure and systematic processes. He constructs a code of rules embodying his own judgements about the world. He then acts upon the basis of his judgement, whether or not this appears well-founded to others. He tends to appreciate tradition and is interested in maintaining established rules and procedures. He is quick to spot opportunities and see how they can be turned to his advantage.

Strengths
Richard’s key strengths:

Knows the importance of detail within the process.

Competitive and wants to win at all costs.

Action oriented - rises to the challenge.

Displays certainty and self-confidence.

Effective and efficient time manager.

Forward looking, quick thinker.

Possible Weaknesses
Richard’s possible weaknesses:

Blaming and judgmental, particularly when challenged on shortcomings.

Sometimes unaware of others' feelings.

May pay lip service to “team” issues.

Tends to over-control the situation.

Fears loss of face in any situation.

Inflexible, stubborn, blunt and impersonal.

as with all oly pulls, you're suppose to keep your arms straight until the top of the explosive pull (tripple extension + shrug) then the weight is suppose to follow a pretty straight line up, which will require you to bend at the elbow, then catch it with elbows locked (catching with elbow bent and then pressing out is cheating)
I believe this is the general way to do it, I dunno if Tony has something else in mind though.
It sounds like what you're doing is more of a single arm DB swing to overhead..

job interviews.. on your weaknesses always say/write something like:

Priorities:
I always prioritize work before anything else.
I do a lot of overtime and work a lot at home which leaves less time for myself
I work too much
Sometimes I don't take the vacation I'm entitled

Good sides
I can handle all my bad sides without becoming mentally ill.

hahahahaha

as long as the interview isin't in person, so they can't see him, this will work great!

:11doh:

IO love my smiley selection.

hejheheh

Make sure and tell them you SWEAT DAILY! then look right at them and say it "so watcha think of that beeeeeeeyatch? how about a raise!" "I knew you would agree." and smile!

Ah, OK, I think I'm almost there, I probably need more of a bend in my arm though

Good news! I was off yesterday to go have the 20 week baby scan with my pregnant girlfriend (she actually 22 weeks though) and it's a very healthy looking baby boy.

He's also hung like a horse!

My girlfriend says he takes after Daddy

Now I just need to work out who she's talking about so I can go beat him up ;)

I've decided that next week I'll remain in my calorie deficit which should bring me down to about 224lbs and if it all goes OK and my BF looks to have dropped I might return to my surplus for the following week

Karky - Using these standard "weaknesses" only works on prospective employers who are really dumb or have never actually interviewed people before. Everyone uses the "Ooooh. I work too hard" crap and most employers would see it for the cop-out it is.

Think there is no danger in that? A great response from the employer is "Oh, interesting. Please give me an example of a time when you worked too hard, but shouldn't have." There is pretty much nothing you can reply that doesn't make you sound like a jack-ass. If you say "I stayed up all night working on a project that was due," the employer WANTS that behavior. If you say you got too much done that wasn't due yet, they'll think you can't manage time or you won't want to go beyond specific 'assignments' you are given. If you say you worked 100 hours a week and missed your kid's birthday party, you're an insensitive prick. Like I said...there is pretty much no comeback on that, and you've invited the question with the 'weakness' proposed.

The best way to handle the "what are your weaknesses" question, IMHO, is to:

(1) address something that genuinely was a weakness of yours, explain how you are working on it, and provide an example showing where you made a change in your behavior for the positive in that context; and/or

(2) speak to some SKILL or EXPERIENCE that you are weaker in, but is NOT the primary requirement or skill set needed for this job. With this one, you point out that you are not as strong at "x" as you'd like to be, but you do hope that your strengths at y & z (which are the primary part of the job) combined with your potential to grow in area x will serve the company well.

Of course, this doesn't work if your chosen weakness is something like "I used to kill a bunch of pepole, but I've been able to remain murder-free for 4 months now!" <creepy stare>

Good luck, dude! I'm sure you'll do great. Just be yourself...

Congrats. So Ill guess he'll be squatting by 2 then...
